  1. A cut-scene of the rocket moving along those tracks from the VAB to the launch pad.
  2. This is not much of a challenge, but wow: what a shuttle. It practically flies itself. Having tried to build a shuttle of my own that never flew very well, I was amazed at how well this STS-4 handles. I tried it in stock KSP, and it remained nicely balanced all the way to delivering the fuel pod to a perfectly circular 150x150 orbit. I ditched the tank with fuel to spare, so could easily have gone higher. I like the way the fuel tank empties from the bottom and the boosters empty from the top - keeping everything nicely balanced. Why didn't I think of that? Reentry and landing was also a breeze. I was a bit short of the runway, but as I still had half my monoprop left I used that to push me through. The empty craft glides amazingly well with a nice 10:1 glideslope at an insanely slow 32m/s. It literally lands itself. The STS-4 Dauntless is now definitely part of my fleet. Thanks. P.S. Sorry, but I didn't take any pictures.
  3. Deutherius: Ditto. I'm running the 64-bit Linux version with every mod I could lay my hands on. It still crashes every few days or so, but it is more than stable enough. Any improvements are simply cherries on top. I love FAR and can't wait to see the improved stock aero, but I would also like to see conservation of rotation in the stock version - or at least a resumption of rotation when switching back to 1x time-scale.
  4. When pareidolia makes you see see kerbals everywhere. What's Jeb doing in my cheese sandwich!?
  5. Here's the hardware info, build version, log and screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/sqb28bjf5veo3jy/AABzcx82BT8YIAV72S56mT0aa?dl=0 It was installed from the .zip downloaded from Squad. The sha1sum is: c25c32df4dc4b263b56bb38b3246312c054852a0 ksp-linux-0-25-0.zip Any new ideas? -- update: I've installed the proprietary NVidia drivers and that fixed the problem. It doesn't explain why the latest update stopped working with the Noveau drivers though.
  6. I've installed a fresh new 0.25 version and started a new career. The space center is rendered as floating in the sea, and all of Kerbin is missing, but kerbals can still walk on the water where the ground is supposed to be. I've tried various graphics settings and both the 32-bit and 64-bit Linux versions. 0.24 worked fine, just not 0.25. Any ideas?
  7. I once built a real beaut of a Duna lander. It could crew three, and was driven by two nuclear rockets. It could land on Duna without parachutes and had enough dV left to SSTO and return to Kerbin. I had just recently discovered and started using mods, in particular the nice streamline fairings from KW. Now to fit those long nuclear rockets inside the fairing they would have to go under the lander, but to do a stable landing, they had to go on the sides. Infernal Robotics provided some nice hinges that allowed those rockets to stow under the lander for launching and fold out to the sides for landing. It was simply stunning to see the launch and deployment of this lander - ballet in action. So when Jeb, Bill and Bob arrived at Duna - some two years after launch - those nuclear rockets wouldn't fire. I'd forgotten the #@@#! fuel hose! The poor crew had to circle Duna for another year before they could return to Kerbin. I immediately added and tested the offending fuel hoses, and also made a few other minor changes. I immediately sent Jeb, Bill and Bob on their way again. So, they arrive back at Duna. They fire up the rockets, and - NOTHING! Those minor changes ended up cutting off the fuel hoses during the complicated unfolding of the rockets. I eventually did get a crew to Duna and back using this lander, but it wasn't Jeb, Bill and Bob. In fact, the crew that finally made the landing passed Jeb and co. returning to Kerbin on the next launch window to Duna. I still feel guilty for making Jeb and friends sit in a capsule for years and never actually getting them to Duna; but at least I got them home alive.
