Yeah, I love the rescue missions. You can just impress kerbals into your space program like the frickin' British Navy in the 1700s.

I never use MJ, but I don't look down on people who do. From everything I've heard, it just doesn't sound very fun to me. Also, I don't know why some people think the stock UI is broken or unusable; I've never had any problems with it.

Can't return capsule because of new chute mechanics

Okay, I'll try that next time and see if it works. - - - Updated - - - I tried your suggestion and it did the trick. Thanks! -
Can't return capsule because of new chute mechanics
Skylab replied to Skylab's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I'm not reentering too steep. I set my periapsis to about 20-30 km before entering the atmosphere on each one of the attempts. Same result every time. -
The game is unplayable for me now because of the new chute mechanics. I've made 5 attempts to return a Mk1 capsule (with a heat shield and a Mk16 parachute, nothing complicated) from LKO to the surface. Each one failed. I deployed the chute the second it said that it was safe, but it wouldn't open in time. I have no idea how I'm going to work with this problem. If anyone has managed to get around this, please tell me how you did it. I'll be very grateful.

Heat shields for Duna landing?
Skylab replied to Skylab's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Thanks everyone, that answered my question. -
I'm planning a manned mission to Duna. Does my lander need a heat shield in order to avoid damage to the engine and landing legs, or is the atmosphere so thin that I won't need one?

This is, in my opinion, one of the best space-related movies ever made. Its attention to realism and character development is simply extraordinary.

Have any of you people watched the animated miniseries "Over the Garden Wall"? It's really fantastic.
-
I'm watching it right now; I love it so far
-
I would have liked it more if it wasn't full of libertarian bull****.
-
Okay, now I understand how to do it. Thanks, guys

Does anyone know how to stage a Korolev cross? I'm not sure how to place and angle the sepratrons in the right way.

Music to Launch Rockets To - KSP Music Thread
Skylab replied to Steambirds's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Flying Lotus definitely sets the right mood for me EDIT: Oh, and also the album Demon Days by Gorillaz is great to listen to while playing KSP as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcTNloetz_8 -
I built my very first spaceplane. Unfortunately, pretty much all it can do is get to space. I can't get into a stable orbit or land it where I want. Also, this isn't related to KSP, but I had a really funny dream last night where I bought a used space shuttle orbiter at a garage sale, and was using it to drive around town instead of a car. I was going to drive it to work but realized that it was a bit too flashy, so instead I walked there, because I had sold my car to buy the shuttle.
