  1. OK, Kerolev FS-17 won the first round against current champ GG HRF-12 (gun kill). I'll post the video link in the morning (9h from now). EDIT GG HRF-12 won the next two rounds and stays on top!
  2. First fight FS-17*) vs GG HRF-12: - - - Updated - - - OK, I'll run the Swallow vs. the Champ. After that we probably need a neutral person to do the fight between presumably Swallow and K-191... but let's see. EzBro *) EDIT: I goofed. I ran Faukker Dr-4a vs GG HRF-12... So this is just for your entertainment and confusion. The fight that I shall run is Kerolev FS-17 vs GG HRF-12. Doing that now.
  3. So I'm running Kerolev FS-17 vs GG HRF-12 now. --- First round goes to GG HRF-12 (gun kill). Video upload finishes in 2h. Second and third also. The champion is therefore still GG HRF-12. The next fight involves my own plane. I would prefer not to run it myself. Cheers, EzBro
  4. Once there is a queue / challenger list, how do we make sure to not have two volunteers running the same fight simultaneously? A post by the volunteer before he gets to work would solve this. Cheers, EzBro
  5. I volunteer to run fights and upload vids if something like what I linked in post #188 is OK for everyone. Cheers, Ezbro
  6. I played a bit with basic jet engine'd planes and found that they can be competitive even against our latest contestants. Not using the Whiplash doesn't really hurt the performance enough if we intend something like a junior league. My opinion: let's get over with the battles in the pipeline and see where that leaves us. Once the stream of new submissions diminishes we can still vote for changed rules / new mods / whatever. Cheers, EzBro
  7. With in-game I meant recording any game at all. It didn't even occur to me tat there might be something built into KSP or Steam. Instead, I downloaded LoiLo Game Recorder. It makes the game crash every time I go back to the hangar, but it does it's job once everything is ready on the runway. Cheers, Ezbro
  8. Hi all, Testing the next thing after K-191, I ran some fights against Kerolev FS-17 and GG HRF-12 yesterday. I also played with in-game video recording (never did that before). So here are two vids:
  9. Never happened in my tests - but I never tried running two craft without radar against each other. I do buy the argument, though, that it is unfair to rely on the opponent to take care of initiating the fight with his radar while saving the weight yourself. So I change my vote to A. Here is my submission, with radar: The K-191. Yes, I made 168 models since the K-22 until I had something that can beat d-10 and Swallow... let's hope it doesn't break up. https://www.dropbox.com/s/z6mz825w34hbgjw/K-191.craft?dl=0 Cheers, Ezbro EDIT: I just uploaded the right version - the one on DropBox until now had wrong DD settings. Sorry for that.
  10. I vote B as I don't believe in the current implementation of rockets and I never saw the advantage of having a radome for gunfights.
  11. 3 examples for planes of mine pulling 30G: http://i.imgur.com/MyfkpHw.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Uz8Gyoe.jpg http://i.imgur.com/3BLlYSr.jpg At some point I will submit one of them... but with the K-22 in mind, which was super-stable on my installation but kept breaking up on VanDisaster's, I am still hesitant. Cheers, Ezbro
  12. Outwards from the fuselage. Breaking up is an issue for me, too, especially with the light plane/huge wings designs that are so successful right now. I aim for G-tolerance of 30. Keeping Gs below that can be challenging at high speeds. I tweak Dynamic Deflection to achieve >10G turns at low speeds and <30G at high speeds. So far I always had to use the occasional strut and/or to increase wing strength. Ezbro
  13. Good that you mention this. Interesting topic. Some opponents really need a specific treatment. A winner against d-10 might suck against the Skua. I test my planes against all previous chamoins and don't stop until I can reliably beat all of them. I didn't ever achieve that yet, but I would have had a chance with Skua, d-9 and Hawk Moth. I am quite sure that, if I am ever able to build one at all, my d-10 killer will loose against most of the previous champions. I would be really interested in a contest in which planes fly against the past three champions. Couldn't agree more. I noticed that I design crafts more for tricking the autopilot than for anything else. You can build a plane that can corner with 9g at 100m/s (which is in my opinion the way to go for defeating the d-10), but the AI will probably not be able to handle it. After >100 hours of testing it is still unclear to me which features of planes trigger which behavioral patterns of the AI. Cheers, Ezbro
  14. Yeah, the d-10 is a monster... I built like 100 planes during the last 2 weeks and tested them against d-9 and d-10 - finally I got something done yesterday evening that can take care off d-9 and also the Hawk Moth. But the d-10? No way... sitll trying, though. Ezbro
  15. Don't bother with the K-22 - It totally doesn#t break up on my installation, but it is still hopeless against the Moth... Ezbro
  16. I installed dynamic deflection and never configured anything (where would I?). On my system the craft is super stable, can pull 30 (!) g. I think I know what that could be ;-) - - - Updated - - - Right, I thought of the F-22. Unfortunately, being forced to optimize for performance rather than design, it doesn't look much like the real thing.
  17. Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce the K-22. In prelimiary tests, it fireballed the current champion, the Arctic Skua, in 4 out of 7. K-22 was never shot down. (Twice the aricraft collided, once the Skua ran out of fuel, which I generously count as a draw.) Here's the craft file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bxx7olwtuFoIc1M0MWhoTnRXRUk/view?usp=sharing Cheers, Ezbro EDIT: just saw that the Skua has been beaten by others, too, just the leader-board wasn't updated. So my tests were probably useless... now downloading D-10 etc. in preparation of the Mk2. EDIT2: OK, K-22 is useless against D-10, as it can't go slow at all... :-(
  18. Hey, I did it: http://imgur.com/a/uItJ5 Sequence was Kerbin Jool Laythe Tylo Vall Pol Bop Kerbin The mother ship stayed at Pol while the lander went to Bop. Everything else should be self explanatory from the images. Cheers, EzBro

  20. I achieved orbit around Kerbin, Duna, and Ike, and landed on Mun and Minmus. Pod was recovered, but scarcely. Touchdown speed on Kerbin was around 100m/s, so everything but the pod was destroyed. I used 4 Struts, no other non-Rockomax parts. 21. Thanks for the challenge! I made it on the thrid try. Idea was a fuel units glider design that would achieve >1200m/s at less than 1/ throttle. Stupid plane wanted to climb all the time because of high center of drag, so I had to fly without acceleration all the time... I guess this makes it to the list, right!?
