  1. So here is was my problem step by step. 1. I used a fuselage fuel tank as base part then tried to attach one more fuel tank to each side, like so: http://i.imgur.com/HSxxH2H.jpg That doesnt work and no matter how i turn it, it wont attach to the both outer sides. No mirror modes works, it will only ever attach to the same side with two tanks. Like INSULINt mentioned earlier tho, theres a way how to do it proper, if you take a capsule as base part, then strut, then fuselage and then add the side tanks it will work: http://i.imgur.com/rs4c5Y9.jpg You also need to use the right mirror function (toggle with r) I am still pretty new to all this, so i learned a few things while trying this design. But what i use the octagonal strut for in the end is utility, i find it much easier to add the strut and cubic struts to it i can use as points to add a whole bunch of things. In the end i mounted the solar panel, 2 tanks, an reaction wheel and 2 engines. I might also do the same for the wheels, havent not decided yet. As you can see from my earlier post you get an whole bunch of attachment points close and symetrical together.
  2. Yeah I dont even...echo? what does that part do? heavy lifting? I tried with part order, but somehow along the way i always mess things up, so its easier for me to do each side, then grab the whole thing and alt rotate it into place for the other side... clearly not the fastest way... I managed to balance the complete thing with 2 reaction wheels, i also put them on the cubic struts, i just added one more cubic behind the back fuel fuselage and it was sufficient http://i.imgur.com/0TWxw5G.jpg Bob isnt to amused with my flying tho... I am really good at hitting the main rocket building Hes always a bit afraid... Tomorrow i need to pretty up the landing gear, should work the same way. Also, sorry admins and thanks, managed to put in the wrong email while making my account, fixed now
  3. Woh thank you INSULINt , i was going slightly mad trying to build that ship and not getting symmetry to work at all! I could approximate it somewhat but then it flys weird. I now use the octagonal thingy and a few other cubic octagonal struts like this: I attache the engines to it too! and added the solar panel in there. Its also easy to do fuel lines in there, i snap the tanks to the other points with alt, make the fuelline while i have room, then move the part to the middle point and it works! so happy now. looks like this, without ther other side: Lets see if she flys well! Also want to say thanks to cupcake for the great videos and part files, i enjoy them very much as a newbie to ksp!
