  1. The last couple of days I have been playing around getting myself warm and fuzzy with planes and eventually space planes, well given the available parts in my career save. Today I unlocked the turbo jet engine and ram intakes and decided to check the launch profile. I certainly I was shocked at the results. Managed to get myself into space at 115k and coasted back down to KSC. During the landing I fully realized something needs to be adjusted because attempting to land on the runway was very difficult as I was producing too much lift and it was a challenged keeping a gentle descent. Perhaps my CoL is too far from my CoM will have to further refine when I make the adjustments for rocket engines. Anyways here's a couple pictures. Quite proud of myself. [Apologize in advance is this is too long] 63km and that single TurboJet is still pushing. Around 70k lost all thrust and ended up with 115k Apoapsis Surprised myself that I was able to land safely at the KSC, still trying to get the hang of landing.
  2. I've been lurking for quite sometime. I think I started playing KSP a couple months prior .24 releasing. I just recently decided to come of the shadows. I have always enjoyed the forums and how helpful the community is even from the sidelines. I have been playing video games for quite some time and Taken part in many communities. KSP's however is by far the best out there. Great game and great community.
  3. Working as a contract I would assume once you meet longitude and latitude parameters of a given body perhaps the altitude as well (but wouldn't that just be surface) you'd qualify for the completion of the contract. In my mind that's how I figure fine print and other mods handle specific orbit type contracts using those relative variables could be completely wrong though. I would love to help any way I could but I'm rather helpless on that sort of subject considering have just started learning visual studio programming for class. As for the modeling and texture I recently downloaded blender and would like to learn that. I have photoshop but lack the artistic ability to create my own textures or images I mainly do photo manipulation. I wanna try and create my own suit textures using the default as a template. Most this post was rather useless I must admit but just wanted to say glad to hear you are working diligently on this concept. Hope it works out.
  4. Thanks for picking this up for the time being beafysalad gonna test your patch version tonight. Hopefully this will fulfill my OCD completionist tendencies. Having to constantly switch to space center to check and with it only display already acquired types of science is really annoying.
  5. Fingers crossed hoping that Bodrick updates this. I really enjoy this UI over the stock research archives.
  6. What kind of bizarre parts you thinking? What would they do? Further thinking on the idea, perhaps you could have the "hotspots" be a general location to get you started digging but have two different types. Say dirt and crystal. You have to keep searching for the crystal but end up with more junk you'll have to sift through. So it's not just land click take surface sample and leave. You'll have to maybe take what the kerbal can carry to your vessel process it then clear it out if you failed to find the target sample. Rinse repeat. I admit though if the percentage is far to low it will become rather tedious and too grindy. You could have the regular common dirt be worth for example 1 fund and 1 science so it's not entirely worthless but raise the values for the "rare" sample. If you bring a container than can only hold 20 samples maybe have the rare sample take up more space given it's preciousness. So you choose to bring home 20 mün dirt or 10 mün dirt and 1 mün crystal and have filled the box. Again hope I'm able to convey my idea well enough to make sense.
  7. This concept sounds really appealing to me. I feel like it could work like Kethan and Karbonite, you could have Scansat search for the "Koins", Although perhaps having them as form of geological surface sample would be more appropriate, Then set out on a mission to go recover this type of "resource" Thus giving more use for rovers or general EVA exploration also making "collect surface sample" less mute. Of course you could also just practice your targeted landing. Just like with other resource mods, you could have specific cargo bins to store the koins, i do like the idea of only having a limited amount to carry as EVA. And then once you recover you must take it back to KSC in order to sell them. This idea could also be incorporated into contract, but might defeat the original purpose, where you are assigned to collect X amount of "koins" from eastern crater of mun. I think it would be pretty nifty to include some sort of catalog GUI to keep track of where you have collected from and prices and such, make it playable for sandbox. I know the RnD archives does something similar but for some reason I am not a fan of that system. I honestly would not be too concerned with the actual value of the "koins" whether be funds or science, I would be more interested in actually going out and recovering them, I suppose very similar to the survey reports but with a little more added game play. In my opinion, this could extend the game play of setting up bases. Hope all this makes some sense, my thoughts kinda were running way too quickly.
