  1. I was coasting to apoapsis, when suddenly, every separate piece of the ship became separated, without any G forces or even the engines burning
  2. I was wondering the same thing. I play in sandbox, and I spotted it today and didn't think it had been there before. I think I would have noticed. I was using spaceplane fins before because I didn't see anything like that.
  3. I launched Bob in a service bay. He exploded... Sorry, Bob.
  4. I've been building what I've been calling the "family spacecraft", because I was planning to have some fun renaming Kerbals and doing fun things. After watching the video streams, I can't wait to watch flaming chunks of metal rain down on KSC! Seriously though, the number of new features and amount of little details you've put into each one completely blew me away. This was already the best game I've ever played. Now it's even better than I could have imagined. Thank you for all of the time and effort you put into this.
  5. I downloaded Distant Object Enhancement and confirmed that it is Minmus. That's a really cool mod. I had no idea you could actually see distant planets like that.
  6. Ah, thanks for the replies. That's interesting.
  7. Has anyone else noticed the bright twinkling star on a 90 degree heading that seems to show up on launch right about when it's a good time to do a gravity turn? Was that put there intentionally? http://imgur.com/fsSQQ4v
  8. How about defaulting the parachute to the last stage? Not that I forget and accidentally deploy the parachute on launch. Every. Freaking. Time.
  9. If that were the case, Neil Armstrong would have fallen on his face after stepping off the ladder. Although, one of the Apollo astronauts was named Gene Cernan, and that is getting dangerously close to Kerman.
  10. I never use math in KSP, either. It seems like things like delta V change depending on the specific spacecraft you're building, and I may be wrong, but it seems like the game doesn't tell you the delta V of your spacecraft. So, amount of fuel and which engines to use seem to be just winging it, maybe with some educated guesses based on previous experience thrown in. I have two "sins" to confess, although I have some justification for them in my mind. I get the basic concepts for how orbits and transfer burns work, but I use MechJeb for everything. I can go to the Mun with just SAS (and have done it) but I figure that NASA has flight computers and automated modes for various stages of flight. Yes, they know how to do things if the computers die (Apollo 13), but they have the computers. Second sin: I use Impossible Innovations deuterium tanks. I'm not sure, but it kind of feels like it could be a sin. Slap the largest deuterium tank on there, and you can get anywhere and back....twice.
  11. I think that I've seen recently that Squad announced that 1.0 will have an increased "memory bubble" (I think that's the term someone used for it). They said that would increase the area of space loaded into active memory and that it means space debris could de-orbit and crash into Kerbin. Does this also apply to potentially hazardous asteroids? That could be kind of cool, and could have some implications...like getting science from an asteroid by literally walking over to it on Kerbin.
  12. Played with Impossible Innovations, which I got yesterday. I built a very basic spacecraft with the deuterium fuel tank command pod, and nuclear engine. The fuel surprised me and lasted so long, that what was supposed to be a quick atmospheric flight turned into a Mun landing. Encouraged by that, I built a craft with four deuterium tanks and four engines....and burned through all the fuel because I'm paranoid on Munar descent, and slammed Rayster Kerman into the surface from about 4000 meters
  13. Mun (Because I've always been a huge fan of the Apollo missions, and it reminds me of Earth's moon), followed pretty closely by Duna, because Mars is cool.
