  1. Hey! In order for the gimbal to work properly you have to stage the engines using the space bar. That is a known bug as far as I know. If you use action groups or right click to activate them for example, they won't gimbal at all. It might also be a visual option in the options menue but I'm not sure on that one. My engines and also the exhaust gimbal very obvious. You can see it in the video here right at the beginning:
  2. Thank you Blazerunga for the nomination and bringing this thread to my attention. I think it is an awesome idea! I find it kinda weird to nominate myself so I just point to my on going series "KNews" and if somebody finds it is worthy enough to be nominated he or she is free to nominate it It's still far from there were I'd like it to be quality wise but I try to improve with each episode! Link: (Please excuse my not so good english, I try to improve on that one too) --- Not sure if I am "allowed" to reply here so I simply edit my post. Hey Yukon, I wasn't able to get an account until recently because having some trouble with my username on registration. Awesome Kasper fixed it However, I am not super active here but I try to change that. I used to be a lurker :>
  3. I plan to put this out regulary and get also more self made animations in the video. I'm currently busy learning how to use blender properly for that matter. Just so you know: I slowly transistion from KerbalNews to KNews because I saw a guy who is allready called KerbalNews and I don't want to steal his name! The logo still says KerbalNews however, sorry about that. Please feel free to criticise and thanks for your time!
  4. To give you a very scientific answer: Well.. it depends. Giving a general answer to this would be just wrong in my opinion. It obviously depends on the weight, size of the fairings and also on the speed you are going. Using FAR you can switch on the aerodynamic pressure colors I believe. It will show you whether your fairings are exposed to high aerodynamic pressure or not. You can also use the temperature (wich deadly reentry) as an indicator.
  5. I don't know if its allready answered but the "push" comes from the hot accelerated plasma which strikes at the plate. An atom bomb consist of nuclear active material which has a certain mass. The explosion occurs if you go beyond a certain critical mass. A bomb consists of multiple masses which are spatially split. If you want to make it detonate you fire up little bombs which smash all the masses together. The matter does not annihilate like when using antimatter. Only a small fraction of the mass is converted to energy. This energy heats up the "reaction mass" which reaches the hottest state of matter. A plasma! You may know that heat is nothing but movement of the particles. This insane plasma heat creates an enourmous pressure on the plasma which expands in all directions. You can shape the nuclear bomb (shape charge) in a way so the plasma does not expand in all direction but mostly two. To the front and to the back. 50% of the plasma smashes into your absorber while the other 50% are gone. The stresses of the sudden acceleration would be too much I guess on a plane. A plane looks sturdy but it's really just paper. It has to be as light as possible! A full turn using their joystick would allready be too much at high speeds. This means they can't turn more quickly than they allready can due to structural limitations.
  6. It's kind of stupid to introduce myself (self plug?!) but I'd do it in reality face to face too Hi, I'm KerbalEssences and I am the biggest KSP YouTuber I know... in person Some of my videos went off because Squad featured them on their facebook page and since then I try not to dissappoint my newly gained subscribers. I study information technology in germany and applied for an internship at a german satellite company because of KSP! It's not like I was successful with that but the try counts too right? I used to make all sorts of random videos but now I focus on somewhat entertaining remakes of real rockets and news shorts. I'm not yet sure about the name but I call them KNews or Kerbal News for now! I basically present upcoming launches and explain what their payload is used for using KSP so I can throw them people in the face who complain about rockets being wasted money! I'm still far from being good but I think I'm heading in the right direction. I'm also always looking for constructive criticism too! I'm currently working on my website to better showcase my videos so it's still really buggy and probably won't run on IE < v10. If you want to see what I do it would be best to check it out (http://www.kerbalessences.com/). YouTube is kind of messy but you'll find me there too! I think that's it about me. I'm still not sure if that even meets the topic. I hope it does! *Best regards Lukas aka. KerbalEssences
  7. And I've done another render. Slowy getting the hang of it!
  8. The camera is really annoying to set up right. That might just fix it! Thanks!!
