read in sequence from your -22. XB-70a looks out of turn again. so I think we're waiting for -24? I claim my -23 is the last valid, so let's organize this in sequence: XB-70A, micha, Hotel26... waiting for -24. @XB-70A !

Which one of you is Star Theory?
Hotel26 replied to SpaceFace545's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Is that what "they" told you at the interview...? (Phone interview or in person?) (I, myself, phoned 'them' for an interview but 'they' hung up: "sorry, wrong number".) -
Trumans' Trailer Park expands... We've brought an Aquila VIII (left) to dock and thus it provides a total of 9 docks out-facing for residents. Meanwhile, the Mosquito miner (center) produces fuel for everybody. Completing the picture is an Escort (above) attached to the Mosquito. I couldn't stand the rigors of 'near space' (i.e. the Mun) any more, so went on R&R in my 'Import' world this morning (before 'work' IRL): Truman parked his latest 'mystery' acquisition on the roof at Truman Airport. (Then promptly chuted down, leaving this equipment stranded as a permanent ornament and testament to his extravagance[*].) * Sometimes... I find myself truly despising the man, you know..?.

Venom V Craftyard Description 1: engines A stock resupply rocket called Venom V. Built with 84 of the finest parts, its root part is probeStackLarge. I will use this ship to keep my LKO space station(s) supplied with monopropellant (3,750 kals). Includes a Sparrow and a recoverable Spunk lifter. Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.7.3.
-
Xenon III Craftyard Description A stock supply rocket called Xenon III. Built with 212 of the finest parts, its root part is ServiceBay.250. Take a look at the flag in the background for a clue why anyone might want to ship 103,320 units of Xenon to LKO. Nuts!! But have you ever asked yourself how you refuel an Ion Cruiser? Put one on your LKO space station… Ship a bunch to the Jolian system… Or just pack one with your ion drive. Who knows? Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.7.3.

How to describe what is going on here? I'm not sure I know how... It looks like it's going to be some kind of "trailer park"... Gives new meaning to "heaviest part" auto-strutting. I'll park spent boosters here and the Mosquito ('roid miner, pictured right-side) can gradually fuel them up for another launch? Or just sit outside and watch the fuel flow...

Landing is a nightmare.. Mods to fix it?
Hotel26 replied to LadyAthena's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I routinely set landing gear suspension to spring strength 1.0 and dampening 1.5 and get good results for 90% of craft. Others require some individual tuning (like one I just performed for lunar gravity). Having gear perfectly aligned with the nose and also perpendicular to the ground wards off many undesirable flaws as well. (Just my experience up to 1.7.3) In your particular circumstance here, you are carrying a lot of kinetic energy into this landing, still aimed at the ground. I'd suggest testing its stall speed close to the ground[*] by levelling off and flying as long as you can hold the nose up. Find out just how slow it will go. If it's a spaceplane, we can assume you're landing back at KSC with 3kms of runway? Try holding off the landing until your speed is only 5-10 m/s above the stall? This is one thing I like about tail-draggers: you will never land them reliably unless you attempt something resembling a three-pointer and, if the aircraft has been designed carefully, that angle of attack will be approaching a full-flare landing -- at which point, the machine is losing its will to continue flying. I converted my Mink quadcycle gear to a tail-dragger for this reason and the touch-down accidents ceased instantly. * by which I mean at something like 1km AGL (comparable air density) -
The Polaris II is a lunar executive "spacejet" meaning rocket engines and lo-grav lunar operating regime. It comes on a Zephyr launcher to get you into LKO from whence you proceed to your theater of operations. The Dart is almost completely superflous, but it does feel nice to "get going" quickly and ditto for arrival. (Passengers appreciate the level flight profile keeps their drink trays horizontal.) Grand also to make a "conventional" landing on a lunar runway and the fuddy-duddy Top Brass passengers prefer it that way. Use RCS for taxi operations.
