Why should i use spaceplanes?
Korizan replied to Gooru's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
What is the benefit of spaceplanes in KSP? Well I use them the get Kerbals up and down from the local station. It really is the cheapest option for moving Kerbals and the least amount of hassle. You feel great the first time you get it to work and thats it. It takes much more time to reach LKO. Yes it takes a little more time, but just like a rocket each one has a different flight profile for the best fuel efficiency and tweaking it is part of the fun. Let alone landing back on the runway is just as much fun. It has got very limited payload. As stated above I use them to move Kerbals. And for the mechjebbers - you can´t use MJ to launch. Sure you can I use it all the time. How you use it is just different from launching a rocket. So why would i use spaceplanes? See above. Although I would state that if you don't have a joystick I wouldn't bother. I am sure there are players that don't use a joystick and are perfectly happy. For me I just find it is too awkward to fly without the joystick. -
Does anyone else feel dirty when using Mobile Research Labs?
Korizan replied to More Boosters's topic in KSP1 Discussion
In my current career game Tech Tree Completed except 1 or 2 items I skipped just collecting science from Mun & Minmus. I haven't gone anywhere else as I am still awaiting the Duna Window. So now I am looking at using the Research labs for those last items. Not feeling the least bit guilty about it either. -
$40 for a game... lets put this into perspective. How much do you pay for; Your cable bill Your Internet Connection Your cell phone bill Going out for dinner Going to the movies An evening at the pub A 6 pack of beer for that matter The price fine, $40 is what you should expect to pay. Now 50 60 70 and up, now you are getting into the realm of, "Is it really worth buying"

Actually if the game uses a random function the odds will actually be heavy to one gender or the other the odds of having equal or close to equal genders less then 10 % The only way to have genders even is to take the random function out.

Is it bad for me to say I have know idea how many male or female Kerbals I have (never bothered to look or even count for that matter)
-
My Standard Station I have one around Mun & Kerbin & Minmus... Why simply because I could. The station was launched fully fueled so well options...

I use mods but I stay away from part mods. Why because I played Minecraft (well still do occasionally) and I don't want to be in a situation where I am stuck on version .90 (for instance) because my favorite modder stopped updating the mod. This is always a danger when it comes to games that rely heavily on Mods. Mods should enhance a game not make the game.

Want a laugh try this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883281629 A 64 Bit machine with 4 gig of RAM, WHY ????? 8 gig should be the minimum specs on any 64 bit machine.

Here is a link about the windows page file. http://lifehacker.com/5426041/understanding-the-windows-pagefile-and-why-you-shouldnt-disable-it Everyone really should read it and you will understand why people choose to add more RAM to their system. A whole lot of computer Issues and crashes revolve around lack of RAM. But Microsoft and computer retailers continue to sell computers with only 4 gig of RAM and it is complete nonsense.

While I agree a game should be bug free the way games are being released has changed a lot in regards to perceptions of what a complete game is. KSP is one of many new titles that you can purchase in BETA and play it, and with that you open up a whole new list of issues to include players who liked a beta version better because they could do such and such but it was later removed as it didn't fit with the Dev's vision of the game. And of the course what this thread is entirely about, is the game complete. Well it is complete when squad says it is complete. Then as others have stated bugs are removed AFTER the final version is released. OR perhaps this is all about the confusion that gets created when there are no standards and communication between developers and players fails.
-
What I think doesn't mean a thing. For example Squad could have called it quits at 1.0. They could say, we might fix a few major bugs but we are moving on to the next project. Or they could say, we might consider making an expansion that would be released in 6 months or a year. The point is you purchase a game as is with no guarantee it will be patched or even expanded upon. Which brings me back to my original statement in that I am more interested in what the squad thinks.
-
Define Finished. Personally I am more interested in what squad thinks of their game. Does it match the vision or is the vision still evolving.

Used to play the game at 6144 x 1152 but I lost a monitor so sadly I am now down to 2048 x 1152

Well my first question is how are you building outside the VAB ? My second is simply. There are no rules in KSP except the ones you place upon yourself. So you decide if you are cheating in your game and I decide if I am cheating in my game.
-
KSP is definitely a game that gaps the generations. What it also means is telling your significant other that they need a PC of their own to play the game. And all things considered it would be cheaper for you to build a new system and you will give your current PC to the little one.

What brand of GPU do you use to play KSP?
Korizan replied to Red Iron Crown's topic in KSP1 Discussion
After reading some replies I start hearing...... True story, back in the day ....... I remember when in you could add more Video RAM by adding more CHIPS to your motherboard you purchased from a local electronics store. I remember when you used to have one floppy for the OS and one for your program as computers didn't have hard drives. I remember when there was discussions about emm386 and himem as to which one worked better with which game I remember when ENG 150 class was on Fortran 77 and Pascal I remember when loading a game required you to work your way through 15 1.44 Floppy Drives I remember when Lord British (Still have the clothe maps by the way) was a household name. And 2 ATI 6850's will run KSP on 2048x1152 with Zero Issues. -
Pretty much the same. Orbital Stations really should be a progression like the altitude and speed starter missions. First one should be build a station then it should be add this then this so forth and so on. I never do the Base Missions as the stock game really isn't set up for it. Now if you could say land 3 ships with all the items required for the base within a certain radius and have it count then I would say yes. Explore body can be fun on minmus a good waste of time driving around to complete and other planets not so much when the site ends up on a vertical wall. And the recover part, forget it I refuse to use the claw , to many issues with it breaking the physics engine to trust it anymore. And rescue absolutely as that is the only way I get more crew

Hi my name is Bruce and Mechjeb is a friend not cheating.... And that is the very reason why I use Mechjeb. It is not that I can't be done manually but sometimes it just isn't worth it. Besides more time enjoying the view and playing with the Camera Tools Mod.

It also doesn't hurt when you get to set the standards. Intel and Nvidia are the standard when it comes to testing so by default they will always be more stable and of course this also means you will pay for it as well. -
Well I did state gamers when I was talking about upgrading computers. And at one time gamers where a VERY small percentage of people and yes we tended to upgrade computers long before the other 99 % as the games required it. Now a days there are games that will run on just about every computer out there and as such KSP has apparently drawn in the casual crowd as well. Which is a VERY good thing, but at the same time also creates a question for the Squad as to how far they can take KSP before it pushes the limits of the casual gamer rig (or those on a budget).

I think you are going to lose that battle. Even though I don't use Nvidia they do own the lions share of the market. There used to be an old rule (it had to do with mother boards and south bridge issues) Basically if you used AMD you put in an ATI video card and if you where using an Intel you used Nvidia. So as most gamers where/are power hungry, they went for the INTEL CPU and as such Nvidia. For those of us on a budget we went to AMD and ATI. -
Well it goes something like this. When Vista came out most gamers installed x64 versions and put in 8 gig on the spot (the whole reason to update to x64 to begin with). When windows 7 came out the price of RAM had dropped again and as such most people doubled there RAM to 16 as most gaming motherboards are setup up to support 4 , 8 ,16 etc. There are still a fair amount of generic motherboards out there that support the odd numbers of 12 gig so you see some of those as well. What surprised me was the number of 4 gig computers. But then you have to ask how many are laptops and how many are still running 32 bit. For that matter I have to wonder if windows 10 will be the last 32 bit version.

I only upgrade when I need too and hold off as long as possible. But in the end ... Mission - Contracts Launch Pad - Liquid fueled rockets don't like the dirt pad. Tracking Station - Maneuver Nodes After that it really is as needed and funds allow.

As you are controlling the craft all you need to do is read the log when it pops up. It will say such and such items collided with or over heated. Use that as a starting point.
