  1. Okay, so over the last couple of days I have been drafting out different ideas in sketchup. I finally came up with a design I like so I started measuring and cutting parts out of 1/2" MDF and put everything together with drywall screws. And well this happened I'm really happy with how it turned out! More progress to come...
  2. Sorry for the late reply. Life got in the way of me doing any work on the simpit. But I now have the time to start working on it again The GPU situation has still not been resolved. But it is not a priority at the moment. As for the simpit I have stripped it down to just the base. I'm currently in the process of redesigning the entire simpit. The simpit is going to be mk3 / space shuttle-ish. I will be sure to post photos as soon as I have something to show you. Thanks, SpaceNavy.
  3. Hopefully the unity 5 update will fix that.
  4. Thanks man. I can't wait to see what your setup will look like when it is done It is for outputting data to the CRT. I just got a idea maybe I can use my motherboards onboard video chipset for the CRTs and a graphics card that supports 4 monitors, I will have to try and see it it works. I have a AMD HD 7850 it only has 3 outputs 1 dvi 1 hdmi and 1 displayport. The displayport can be daisy chained to 2 or 3 monitors. But the monitors have to be daisy chain capable. All my monitors are dvi so I will have to get a gpu with 4 outputs. As for cpu my AMD FX 8320 8-Core should have me covered.
  5. Actually, I got a little discouraged when I found out that I need a new graphics card (or two) to get the 4 to 6 outputs I need but anyway I did get 3 of the 4 monitor installed here is what the pit looks like so far. Still a lot of work to do.
  6. I will see what I can come up with Anyway, all four of my monitors arrived today so I can finally get the front of the cockpit closed off. I should have some pictures for you guy tonight.
  7. Okay, thank you I did not know that.
  8. You have a good point. I wonder if there is a way to change the camera fov.
  9. Wow, your control panel looks really good. I really like how you did the annunciator panel.
  10. All the side monitor would do is increase the field of view.
  11. I got the television mounted to the console. Now I need to get monitors for the windows, I'm planning to have four total two in front and two on the sides or just two in front. I'm not exactly sure, four would be more of a shuttle/aircraft and two would be a pod or capsule. Hmm what do you guy think i should do?
  12. I 100% agree with you, richfiles. I always try to re-use whenever possible, almost all the wood in the simpit is re-used lumber. Anyway.. Congratulations on that find, monochrome CRTs in amber or green are always real cool and it being wide format is even better.
  13. Hmm, why is that? liability or something like that?
  14. Yesterday I stopped at a thrift store and I picked up this cool 5" portable television from the 80's for $8, I was amazed to find that it has a composite input. So instead of having to use a RF modulator I can just plug it in I'm hoping to use it for a data monitor and maybe for viewing hull cams and docking port cams using a vga to composite converter and software to capture the feeds from the cameras maybe...
  15. Well.. the beer would have to be root beer but I guess a mini fridge and snack drawer could come in handy on long missions I may try to but the way its designed I do not think it will be possible.
  16. A door on the side or one in the back, I'm not sure yet. At the moment I have to slide my self under the control panel
  17. Update! I have finished the main control panel base. Hopefully i can start painting the interior and panels sometime this week.
  18. You have a good point, but sadly I would have to redesign the entire assembly. Which at the moment is not on top of my to-do list I will keep it in mind though.
  19. Thank you, that is a great idea. I will be sure to implement it into my project.
  20. The moving blanket idea was not for soundproofing, but instead was for the purpose of finishing the lower interior walls and floor not to mention my garage is unheated so blanket on the lower half of the pit would make it plush and keep my feet warm in the winter . But moving blankets do block sound to some degree. {Edit} And the blue color of moving blankets and the zigzag stitching is kind of space looking
  21. Finally i got to work on the simpit. I added this to the center console it will have the warning light panel and the SAS/RCS stuff. And i installed the rails for the overhead console. I'm still looking for ways to finish the interior, I was thinking about using moving blankets to cover the floor and walls. But I'm undecided, do you guys have any ideas how I should finish the interior?
  22. Wow, that is really impressive. If you don't mind me asking where did you get those leds for the warning lights?
