  1. An Apollo-style mission to Minmus has been planned with four Kerbal(s) on board. It's mission - to collect surface samples from 3 distinct Biomes using a rover. Return the science and Kerbal(s) to Kerbin. During the Kerbin-Minmus transition phase, one of the Kerbals is taken ill and needs to return to Kerbin at the earliest opportunity. Continue the mission using the following criteria:- The Command Module must swing directly around Minmus and return directly to Kerbin. The Lander must land a rover with Kerbal(s) on Minmus to continue the mission. A Rescue vehicle must launch to meet with the returning Command module, refuel it and take the sick Kerbal back to Kerbin. The command module should then return to Minmus to collect the lander crew. Conditions: 1) There must be a minimum of 3 sections to the vehicle, A launch vehicle/command module, a lander and a rover. 2) The rover itself must not use any method other than wheels to propel itself. So a separate lander is required to deliver the rover to the surface and return the science once the rover has completed its job. 3) The command module can only flyby Minmus, during this first approach though must pass within it's SOI. It is not allowed to enter orbit around Minmus at this time. It may enter orbit when it returns later. The lander may orbit Minmus. 4) The lander must deorbit and destroy itself on Minmus. 5) No lost or dead Kerbals. More science points is better. Lower DeltaV requirement is better. Landing the sick Kerbal quicker and closer to the space centre is better.
  2. Advice noted. I've had clipping in flight before, but never on the reload. Even switching to the craft didn't work. Two choices, dead Kerbals or load an earlier save. Chose the later.
  3. Yeah, the doors are still open. Might try that trick with 'switching to'. Might even try editing the save file to close the doors.
  4. Structural failure between Mobile processing LAB and Cupola module is the first Item in the list - The long list. Hmmm.
  5. The service bay doors did collide with the aero caps on top of the fuel tanks 'just', but nothing happened at that time. It's only when I go back to the Outpost from the tracking station that it explodes there and then in front of me. The landing is on a slight slope, I'm wondering if when the ship is spawned on that site something is over stressed. Maybe I built the lander wrong. I'm thinking maybe Land a mission nearby to rescue the two Kerbonauts. Though how I'll get close enough is another problem to solve. Don't have rovers or such unlocked yet.
  6. Built and successfully landed my first Munar outpost, consisting of a Cupola, Lab, 2 person Lander, some Science batteries solar panels and 4 LV-909 engines to land it all. It's on the Mun in the Farside Crater. On landing, the 2 Kerbals EVA'd, planted flags did some science and took samples back to the Lab for processing. Now though, every time I go back there from the tracking station, the Lander explodes killing them both and leaving a pile of junk . What to do?
  7. Attempting to gain some science by low polar-orbit Munar EVA. carefully circularised orbit and checked to see there was no clipping of the blue orbit track with the surface in map view. This was going to be close. God that surface is speeding past at some rate of knots. Does the Mun have some miniscule atmosphere or are my Kerbals obese? either way after a few succesful orbits - with in space near 'biome' science points, I'm thinking god that surface looks close. Board the ship; set the SAS on; line up prograde ready to burn and raise the orbit a little when 'BANG' ....
  8. Early doors for me. Only started playing a couple of weeks ago. Decided to do a rescue mission to Minmus as well as my first landing there. Built a craft with a mk1 cockpit and a lander cockpit to put the rescued Kerbal in (Gwenene). Saved the ship and quit the game before attempting the mission as I knew it would take me half an hour or so. No errors reported in the engineering assessment. Take off fine, Orbit Kerbin fine. Transition to Minmus fine. Orbital insertion fine. Orbital plane line up fine. Careful adjustment of orbit to line up with Gwenene's wreck fine - 8.9m separation. Gwenene EVA fine but couldn't board the lander cabin. Why? Bob Kerbin was already in there.... lol's. Damn stowaway. Anyway Bob ended up in Gwenene's craft for three weeks while I completed the rescue, landed and took all the science back to Kerbin. Just rescued Bob from orbit this morning.
