Hi everyone, During the mission anniversary, you can follow along in real time at http://apollo17.org (non-mobile). This website contains all of the available historical mission material, and presents it as it occurred, 46 years ago to-the-second. I'm the creator of the website. Apologies for the shameless promotion. I thought this community would enjoy it. Ben Feist

Hi everyone, Happy Apollo 17 anniversary everyone. I've updated apollo17.org with a ton of new features. The site has received a lot of attention this past year, and over the summer I've expanded it greatly. I worked with the LRO team to reconstruct the landing site in 3D and add animations of the LRV traverses. I also added new interfaces (like transcript search) plus hours of previously unavailable historical footage. The landing sequence will begin tomorrow, December 11th at 2:45PM EST if you'd like to watch it "live". Of course, if you're impatient you could just jump to that moment too: http://apollo17.org/?t=112:52:17 Thanks, Ben Feist Here are links to the LRO animated LRV traverses for those interested: http://apollo17.org?t=119:04:49 - Rover driving to Apollo Lunar Surface Experiments Package (ALSEP) site http://apollo17.org?t=121:36:13 - Rover driving to Station 1 (Steno Crater) http://apollo17.org?t=122:35:47 - Crew driving from Station 1 to Surface Electrical Properties site to end EVA1 http://apollo17.org?t=141:30:47 - Rover driving to Station 2 (South Massif - Nansen Crater) http://apollo17.org?t=143:45:51 - Rover driving to Station 3 (Lara Crater) http://apollo17.org?t=145:03:55 - Rover driving to Station 4 (Shorty Crater) http://apollo17.org?t=145:54:47 - Rover driving to Station 5 (Camelot Crater) http://apollo17.org?t=146:52:35 - Crew driving to from Station 5 back to Lunar Module to end EVA2 http://apollo17.org?t=164:21:27 - Rover driving to Station 6 (Tracy's Rock) http://apollo17.org?t=166:02:10 - Rover driving to Station 7 (North Massif) http://apollo17.org?t=167:32:28 - Rover driving to Station 8 (Sculptured Hills) http://apollo17.org?t=167:32:28 - Rover driving to Station 9 (Van Serg Crater) http://apollo17.org?t=168:47:07 - Rover driving back to Lunar Module to end EVA3 http://apollo17.org?t=169:52:48 - Cernan driving rover to its final resting place

Apollo 17 in Real-time is up for a Webby - please vote
bfeist replied to bfeist's topic in Science & Spaceflight
The Webby Awards results were announced today, and we fell behind Science Friday's well-deserved win (http://www.sciencefriday.com/). Thanks to everyone who supported Apollo17.org with a vote. Since its Webby nomination was announced, over 130,000 people visited the site resulting in thousands of hours of mission content being served to the general public. I consider that a win of its own. Thanks again, Ben -

If anyone's still interested, the crew has started their first EVA, and the mission's first television transmission from the moon will start at around 8:07pm EST. http://apollo17.org/?t=118:14:02

I'm really glad you like the site. If you know anyone else who might like it, please pass it along. I'm having trouble getting the word out. That series of numbers you posted is called a PAD, which is basically manoeuver instructions to get into a return trajectory in case they lose communications with Earth. There's a great book called How Apollo Flew to the Moon that goes into this level of detail to explain what everything is. It's a great book.
