The Aeromax Mobile Fuel Depot Challenge!
SR replied to Obsidian_mc's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Its basically a large manned refuelling craft. but perhaps it would be better to make it unmanned. -
Decaying Orbit Space Station
SR replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Of course the ISS and all other LEO objects will fall back in less than a year, unless station keeping manoeuvres are performed. -
How about not making me quit FIVE (5) times?
SR replied to Ptorq's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
There is no disadvantage (that I am aware of) and you can quit instantly. -

try not playing in full screen -
Why not use the nukes for the first part of the burn then the rapiers for the final descent.
-
Why didn't you land on Tylo, you could have refuelled before returning to orbit can you upload the .craft file.
-
no lots of rocket stages can do ssto - i.e. Falcon 9 upper stage. However this is with no payload. Plane spend a lot more time in the atmosphere than rockets so aero dynamics is less important.

Your ideal Interstellar vehicle/system (no FTL)
SR replied to jfull's topic in Science & Spaceflight
You do get mini black holes about the size of a proton. And a fleet of cubesats has been suggested for unmanned interstellar flight, then if some get destroyed the mission still succeeds. Probably wouldn't work for manned flight but the concept of lots of small ships is logical. (big ships are weaker) I think it will be antimatter engines or m-drive/ other propellantless drive. -
It would be nice but it is unlikely.

I started on 1.0.3.

The "You know you're playing a lot of KSP when..." thread

Well it's the Kennedy Space Centre so technically there is nothing wrong with calling it KSC. -
call them names that tell you what they are. for example call a Mun base, Mun base. or a kerbin space station Kerbin space station.

Build a rover plain. add rover wheels to a plain and retractable landing gear. When you want to take off lower the landing gear and then take off. Then raise the landing gear to drive.
-
The Falcon is 2 stage. What you are thinking is many rocket stages, including the falcon 9 upper stage could theoretically do SSTO. Nobody has ever tried it though. SSTO means single stage to orbit.
-
I may be wrong but scansat probably works by giving you a list of anomaly co ordinates for each body you scan, if so scansat would not discover unfound anomalies.

Can the "Skydiver" Submarine SSTO actually be built?
SR replied to Just Jim's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Use Tweakscale to build a large submarine, and maybe a 0.65 mere SSTO. -
Somebody should do a full exploration of the ocean floor, there may be an undiscovered Easter Egg.

From the look on there face I got the feeling they don't use an advanced simulator to design there missions. They use KSP+RO. Maybe the reason they don't build a reusable rocket is they always play in sandbox, so don't see the point.
