  1. Didn't know what could counter hazmat so here's a potato
  2. Hah. Nothing beats innovation. wait no wrong one
  3. To start, let me say that to USE a space station for something, one must HAVE a space station. Rendezvous/Docking, among other things, being a weak point for me in KSP really limits what I can do. If I did have a space station, I speculate that I would use said space station for refueling, looking out wondrously of that cupola module, or perhaps just for the sake of having one. They look pretty too! i want a space station
  4. Yes! I found it by chance on one of my old computers.... here's the link if anyone is interested! http://13375.de/KSPDeltaVMap/
  5. Hey everyone! For about the past year, I've been taking a break from KSP mainly because of work and interest in other games. Now that I'm playing again, I seem to remember an old Delta-v calculator website that fit all my needs. I remember it having an obscure and strange URL. On the site, you could click on a picture of one of the planets, and then another picture of a planet, indicate whether it was from the surface or low orbit, and then it would give you the Delta-v needed. There were also sliders. such as increasing the Delta-v needed by 15% to allow for error during a mission, etc... Does anyone know the URL? It would be incredibly useful. I know that there are other calculators out there, but for some reason, I really preferred this one. Thanks in advance, Snowstorm
  6. What about things like the New Horizons mission? Would you send it flying by Eeloo?
  7. I've thought about doing this too! I am, however, waaaaay too lazy to ever get anything done.
  8. The inflatable heat shield is not ablative, making it much less durable and tolerant than its ablative cousins- 20 km/s is just too fast, ESPECIALLY for the inflatable one. Nice idea though
  9. Here's a very comprehensive series of tutorials for beginners to Kerbal Space Program. I watched him and learned a lot. They should hopefully get you started on your KSP journey. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwnE0czz6mprmGRfrtaYcjg
  10. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Did you just post on a year old thread?
  11. As the title says, what thing in KSP gives you the best feeling? For me, it is zooming past a planet at high speeds at low altitudes. It gives me such a big rush! What gives you the best feeling in KSP?
  12. I have a large ring space station/fuel depot in LKO. I just built a huge launcher and blasted off.
  13. Hm! I think I will try this challenge on mun, going a polar route. Is it ok if I don't leave kerbals behind?
  14. Maybe the tracking station, with its "terminate" option?
  15. Ok, I'll try this out. For bonus points, I am going to bring my sub to Laythe. The water there is much deeper. Also, It would be much appreciated if you added scoreboards such as "Deepest depth", or "Fastest Speed", or something like that.
  16. You are all right. I have seen that this suggestion would be of no use, and would only cause annoyance. However, @Snark, thank you for reminding me that I an use Kopernicus to achieve this.
  17. Ok. I understand all this. If the game can't handle it, and it's not necessary, I'll back down. I don't have strong feelings for this. Just a thought I had.
  18. *EDIT* I now disagree with myself. The patiently persistent KSP community has explained to me why this would be an annoying pain in the rump. Also, I screwed up the math. (I blame Wikipedia) Alright, alright, before you say, "Moho doesn't need an atmosphere!", THIS WILL NOT BE GAME CHANGING. According to Wikipedia, the real life mercury has an atmosphere comprising of Hydrogen, Helium, Oxygen, Sodium, Calcium, Potassium, and water vapor. Now, don't think that you can fly planes there. This atmosphere would be incredibly wispy. The surface atmospheric pressure on Mercury is about 10-14 bar, or about 1 pascal. If the Mars-Duna atmospheres are equal, this would mean that Mercury's atmosphere would be 600 times as this as Duna's. I suppose it could support tiny, tiny, amounts of aerobraking, if any, but otherwise be nothing big. Just something I noticed. Feel free to debate this.
  19. Remember people, there is no shame in using standardized lifters. I personally use standardized lifters for my dres missions, and they got the trick done, because my payload never changed too much. I'll give an example of a standardized lifter: The Atlas V booster. NASA had used that for plenty of missions, haven't they(For example, New Horizons was launched on an Atlas V lifter)? People use these lifters because they are cheaper, less work, and more reliable(If they've seen it work before, there's a better chance it will work again over a new experimental lifter).
  20. Good news! I fixed the problem. I looked at the charger port, and it turned out the charger prong had bent when the laptop was dropped, causing it to not charge. This put it into low power mode and destroyed my performance. I unbent it, and now it's working fine. Thanks for the support!
  21. It is. I've noticed that the core usage jumps up to 100% if I open a game at all, and goes down to 8 or 9% if I put it into the background.
