  1. I loaded up the 1.8 Test 1 version in KSP 1.10, and the crew tank and J-series docking port were both there, which was great. I believe there was also a different I-series cockpit, though since I just closed KSP I'm not dead certain. It looks like the two main sources of incompatibility between Test 1 and Test 4 would be the different directory structure and that Test 1 had PNG textures instead of DDS. I'm pretty much going to try dropping the extra parts from Test 1 and the texture files into the "combined" directory and seeing what happens - wish me luck!
  2. Thank you so much! I downloaded a combined version that was listed on a previous page, it looks like it has the docking port part (j_3m_dock) but it doesn't show in the editor, or at least not on the manufacturer tab. My 1.05 install is not very stable right now (courtesy of having every mod from the CTT installed) and Steam stealth-updated my clean install to 1.10 so I'm going to need a new module manager and firespitter + a few other things to get everything running.
  3. So I was looking back through the thread and was thinking about how I'd like to try and collect all the best bits of the various versions into a somewhat workable "interim" pack, and I noticed that most of the stuff I felt was missing from the 1.8 Test 4 release looks like it was actually in the 1.8 Test 1 release - like the crew tank for Nu-K and the inline docking adapter for Nu-J. With the rest of the fuselage and wing parts that were in Test 4, and the Mk2 engine and the standard cross section cockpits (Mk2 and 2.5 m) in the previous releases, that *should* basically add up to a complete mod, if we can get all the parts working properly. The problem is, the download link that was given for 1.8 Test 1 is dead, and google isn't being very helpful. Does anyone happen to have a copy of 1.8 Test 1 laying around? Also, is there a tutorial somewhere for how to open KSP parts in Blender or something? I know a thing or two about 3D modeling, and while I can't texture worth a damn, I should be able to make at least some "Tweakscale adapters" - maybe not quite as fancy as the ones K.Yeon showed off with the cargo bay doors, but at least some smooth ones so we can use 1.5x J parts together with regular-scaled ones.
  4. I tried replying to this earlier, but my post appears to still be stuck in the moderation queue, possibly because it was a first post. Hopefully it won't happen again... The test release is incomplete possibly because K.Yeon hasn't gotten the new versions of the parts working yet. He did after all completely redo the form factor of the J and K series for 1.8 in order to allow bigger payloads. (Old J series wasn't big enough for 2.5 meter parts; old K series was not big enough for 3.75 meter parts. New J and K series *are* big enough.) I too would really like to see the return of the missing bits. Crew tank and lab in the K-series; inline docking ports; the Mk2 engine (which looks much nicer than any of the other available Mk2 engines I've found), etc. Hopefully most of this will be in the full 1.8 release when it gets here, and the rest will be in the announced "legacy parts pack". A short-ish wish list of stuff I'd also love to see include: * An intake-less K-series cockpit * Smooth J-to-K adapters without the Mk2 attachments, just like we got smooth I-to-J adapters * A K-series fuselage with the Mk2 profiles subtracted and a tricoupler so we could use Mk2 modules as the sides of the full-height K fuselage sections. There's a huge variety of Mk2 parts out there that would be really neat if they could be properly mounted on a K series plane. * More I-series parts in general, with OPT styling...
  5. Hi everyone! Complete noob here, still trying to figure out how to a: Get stuff into orbit without MechJeb and b: get things down again, with or without MechJeb. I can't seem to make it happen without setting the game to easy mode (50% re-entry effects)...
