  1. You figured it out. Anytime there are multiple networks, even virtual ones, the game throws up it's hands. Homegroups, home networks, anything apparently can confuse whatever is trying to communicate within Unity. Very, very strange, and I'd like to know what exactly it's communicating about.
  2. EDIT: No change and I may be confused as to what's in the store. the log reads KSP 1.1.1, but the installer is only half a gig and only includes KSP.exe. Regardless, admin run and different windowed and full screen settings do not fix this. I don't know what [WRN 11:38:08.816] [SpaceNavigatorWindows]: Could not initialize device. means, but it might be the culprit.
  3. I am having the same issue. It was previously a modded install, but it occurs without mods. Occurs with both 1.1 and 1.1.1. AMD compatibility, frameless, and all other graphic settings are not causing it. My graphics card settings have not changed. The problem is severe CPU usage during the loading of assets. KSP_x64 is doing -something-, but it appears to be stuck somewhere. I don't have a log because it does not generate one before I manually kill it, rather than wait 20-30m. If I figure it out, I'll be sure to post it here. Windows Version Windows 7 (Service Pack 1) (64 bit) CPU Type AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor System Memory 16 GB Memory Graphics Chipset AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series Radeon Software Edition Crimson
  4. If you push your luck, coming in fast enough will pop that heat-shield, just like any other part. The ablator doesn't even have a chance to work.
  5. Keep in mind, many, MANY games are released with debilitating bugs these days, and the support to fix them all before big name game reviewers verbally slice your genitals off is furious, usually. Additionally, the very nature of KSP lends itself to situations most games do not ever find themselves in, such as a ball of landing gear. Shooters usually are designed not to allow you to do anything outside a very narrow set of actions. That makes the actual coding somewhat simple. Building games are inherently difficult to create a rock solid platform that people because you are challenging the player that you've thought of all the situations and things that can be done. Given enough people, parts, and imagination, you will be startled what absurd thing someone will make. Very few current building games are 'bug-free', usually because you are pretty restricted. Robocraft is almost completely bug free, but what you can do is very limited. Space Engineers is a buggy mess because you can do so much, well, that and netcode..
  6. Tourist Contracts are also huge reputation bonuses. I consider them the least obnoxious contracts that you can routinely strap additional objectives onto. Flying around the globe to record temperatures for a decent paycheck can go blankity blank itself. Same with testing the Twin Boar on a sub orbital flight over the Mun. Who even DOES that?
  7. If you're using the store installer, the it DOES install both versions, and the launcher allows the option for 64 bit. HOWEVER, the icon it puts on your desktop targets KSP.exe, not KSP_x64.exe. Going into the properties of the icon and changing that ensures it launches 64 bit. A bug topic was made but it's very low priority.
  8. For tourist missions, do you give them a full up capsule with a qualified kerbalnaut to watch over them, or would it be better to send a probe core? I've tried both and it -seems- better to send the probe to ferry them to the Mun and whatnot. What do you all think?
  9. Huh, never thought of that, but that means a return burn from Mun orbit to re-entry... while holding another spacecraft with a big damn claw. Wow.
  10. I have a tourist boat out of fuel orbiting the Mun with no docking port. There is ONE tourist on board. A rescue vessel has arrived to save them, but he cannot EVA, is he doomed, or is there ANY way to save him? This isnt my first rodeo, but I literally cannot think of any method short of cheating, or getting out and pushing, which isnt going to get them home from the Mun orbit. IDEAS?
  11. Squad has smartly made it so re-entry is far more vicious than before. You can't just wing it in any vehicle anymore. You will likely end up using pods with the lowest weight possible and lots of chutes. A long object like that will naturally point the heavy end prograde and if its not ready to deal with the heat, you're toast (get it? hur hur). It will also open the chances that even if it tumbles slightly, it exposes large side sections to the airstream, which can wreck them in a hurry if you're already heated up. Not sure how this changes spaceplanes as I've not progressed that far in career. Using the Hitchhiker container with a command module seems to work better because you can shield it easier. Long story short, the days of riding any old ship down seem to be over. Dedicated re-entry vehicles are a must now if you want any sort of reliability and margin of error. Maybe John Houbolt was right all along...
  12. RCS Aid doesn't figure everything out for you, it just crunches numbers. It simply saves the time of running the a TWR equation every time I add things. It also teaches proper innate placement of engines, RCS thrusters, and just generally makes you appreciate CoM, DCoM, and CoL. KSPedia seems to be trying to take the edge off these sorts of things so RCS Aid would be an excellent addition. Mods for use. None. None of them are really required and I don't see their requirement in the game. They all make the game too easy or require additional learning. Poor poll design since you should always have a "NONE OF THE ABOVE" option.
  13. Drag on parts has been reduced. Good for planes, bad for capsules. You need a shield, drogues and mains to survive reliably. (Almost like real life)
  14. Skipper. Perfect for all your medium lifting needs.
  15. One thing that needs some attention are the terrain textures. They do not scale at distance so the tiles become painfully obvious. This occurs in the main game, regardless of mods. Most things have quite good textures and the map itself looks fine, but when you're landing, you see it, everytime. Also, we're playing a game with little green men, it's as looney toons rocketry as you can get and we wouldn't have it any other way.
  16. Oops. I'll upload the proper log. Yes, Scatterer does produce a lot of log spam sadly, likely because they are actively working on solutions to several issues. If required, I can remove it and see if this crops up.
  17. You cant run KSP on two monitors, you need the second one to have your Biome Map, your engine performance comparison chart, your delta V calculator, (and a regular calculator, for that matter) and the KSP forum up to report bugs and post about how your SSTO flips like a pancake.
  18. Windows Store Installer Install 64-bit Approx 25min into the game, switched from KSC to VAB. Windows APPCRASH window appears, KSP does not recover. 19. 1.1.0.1230 Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit KSP Installer from store defaults to "KSP.exe" (32bit) and not the launcher or 64bit. While not an issue for anyone who even remotely understands Windows, non tech savy folks will always run 32bit without any option to use 64bit. Very minor, just thought I'd throw it out there. Good work nonetheless, less explodium in them there wheels, tho.
  20. I retract all that, landing gear CLIPS into terrain, specifically the LY-05. May be why landings are so fraught with explosions. No idea if this is a known thing.
  21. I can fart loudly on the runway and it will ignite like a bomb. Not sure if that's gear or the runway itself being fragile. CPU never shudders though, it's a full 60 FPS explosion. Appreciate the hard work with everything but you just nuked planes hard.
  22. Performance is excellent. 1.0.5 spun my fan up like a lawnmower but it's quite nice currently. No bugs, no crashes. But the FONT, dear god it's bad. Easy fix but good grief, who chose that font?
  23. I'll be slightly more specific, having added it up, Option 1 is nearly 200 m/s less than Option 2, I assume due to Oberth and gravity assist. Just trying to make sure I am not missing an even superior technique. Also, why doesn't the tutorials just start with teaching you the best way to intercept? Are we suppose to smile with glee when we figure it out ourselves? vs
