  1. So, I get home from the graduation ceremony (I'm not graduating, I was just in the band) and I go onto YouTube, where I find this livestream by Keyboardplayer, who is known for doing improvised versions of songs. I didn't know he livestreamed, though. There were 29 people watching. I didn't have anything better to do, so I clicked on it. Easily the best decision I made this month. He's really great at playing, and he was taking song requests, so naturally I asked for "The Final Countdown," my favorite song. And - Yes. Link for those interested! I never expected for anyone to improvise that live.
  2. Out of likes, so you get a quote. "Our launch was delayed twelve hours because during the daytime our computers are too laggy to perform the launch."
  3. One of my friends had to do the infamous "Egg Drop" challenge in Physics class. The only catch? He was graded on his ability to safely drop an egg from one meter using nothing but eight tooth picks. Our education system at work!
  4. That would be the most epic thing ever. Also, going to Nebraska to see it. Going to be cutting it close - school starts just a few days after the eclipse.
  5. f f Samf ehere.f f Pressinf g F and entef r is taking ovf er all of thf e internef t brovef ers I usf e.
  6. School is out for me! And the summer weather is just wonderful! *eyes thunderstorm outside*
  7. @Cunjo Carl may or may not reply next. I was a bit late!
  8. It would also be nice if your most used parts floated to the top of the list.
  9. Have you tried hiring more pilots in the complex? If this doesn't work, you're out of money or your complex is full. If you're out of money, then (somehow) make more money or attempt to fly a rocket using a probe core or a scientist/engineer. If your complex is full, try upgrading it, or firing one astronaut so you can hire a pilot.
  10. Also, if I understand time zones correctly, then it should be launching in about three minutes (although they probably found another reason to postpone it). Also, there's been some weirdness going on with the NOTAMS according to the subreddit. Apparently there is now one for (mostly) every day for the next week or so. So, it may have been postponed. EDIT: Window is either 0:30 or 1:00, not 0:00 as I had thought. Carry on! Launch is either in half an hour or an hour! EDIT2: According to Reddit, there was a hold called. Reason unknown.
  11. I'm going to go downstairs right now and name one of my model rockets "Neutron" just to make you all happy. EDIT:
  12. The terrain detail setting is known to mess with terrain height significantly, so the peak height is probably different depending on if you are on low or high terrain quality. Also, Kerbalmaps hasn't been updated in forever, which is a shame. IIRC you can only access it through the way back machine now.
  13. HALF PORTAL SPACE PROGRAM THREE CONFIRMED!!!!!!! Jokes aside, can't wait to see what happens! I wonder if @HarvesteR still checks back here on occasion and is able to say anything... or is he NDA'd half to death?
  14. MineKerb. Basically the GalacticCraft mod but with KSP parts. Except KSP is square. Wait a second... Actually, I think the last game I played was "Spider Solitaire." *Brain cannot comprehend how to combine KSP and a card game* *Brain explodes*
  15. A lot of us are familiar with the Community Space Station (both versions) and/or the IYSS/IYMSS and other collaborations between members of the forum and Youtubers. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, watch these. I had an idea - what if, instead of doing a collaborative station building series, we arranged a collaborative cinematic series? The main purpose in of this post is to gauge interest in such an undertaking. {PRELIMINARY INFORMATION BELOW, SUBJECT TO CHANGE} In order to participate, you must: Have a YouTube channel (No minimums on subscriber count, don't want to exclude anyone) Be able to record KSP gameplay Be able to edit KSP gameplay into a decent video Be able to record voice-overs for the characters Be able to handle ships with around 300 parts THE STORY The story would start out with the first video (made by me) setting the scene. I would establish some sort of storyline that includes a location, a ship, and a main character. Then I would upload the video and share the save file with the next person on the list, who would do a bit of gameplay and edit another dramatic video and upload it, and so on. The series would conclude when the goal (set by me in the first video) is achieved. More on the actual storyline later, don't want to reveal it too early. On your turn you may: Introduce (teleport/HyperEdit) one ship with any intent (hostile, friendly, derelict, etc.) and use it in the video. Introduce one new major character or kill off one major character Introduce any number of minor characters (who would be gone after your turn ends) Damage the main ship (don't destroy it too soon, though) Move closer to the goal (but not achieve it until the last turn) On your turn you may NOT: Use mods other than informational ones (E.G. KAC, KER. Kaboom is also fine for visual effects, as are Camera Tools and Time Control. Let's try not to use visual mods so we can keep the videos consistent) Kill the main character Disclose any information on your turn until after the video is uploaded (As to not spoil the story, and to challenge the next person) Show your GUI at any time during the video. Think "Movie" when recording (Also try not to show your mouse too much either) Provide commentary other than what the characters say (Don't break the fourth wall) Also, use common sense. Problematic things: Consistent voice-overs. Everyone has a different voice, and consistency will by a problem, so try and mimic a character's voice the best you can. If need be, I can do the voice overs if you send the video and script to me beforehand. This post mostly serves as gauging interest. I want to complete the list of participants (Ideally ten-ish) before this actually starts to see if this will work. More rules to follow if enough people express their interest. TL;DR: I want to try to start a shared-savefile cinematic series. Participants: 1. @Ultimate Steve 2. @gio is the teo 3. @Spartwo 4. @Sorabh If you would like to participate, or have any questions about this, please say so.
  16. Unfortunately, the suitcase and the sticker are nowhere to be found. Can't find any pictures of it online, either...
  17. This is NOT my final entry. This is just testing. Here I present the "Tumbleweed" MK1: Here it is at the end of its first second fifth? test run. This is just testing, as it violates the "No reverts or quickloads" rule. I managed to build this in 1:45, leaving 4:15 for driving. Yes, the MET is 4:16, but technically I didn't start moving until 0:04. The design philosophy behind this is "Make something that can survive all crashes." A few wheels (and half of the fins) were broken in the making of this. The Vectors on the front are for either stopping or continuing on if the rear engine explodes. This plan was made null by the fact that it is insanely hard to control going backwards... I'll probably reduce it to one for stopping. I got 29KM, but it doesn't count. Also, it needs more fuel. I'm going to try a smaller Jet design like many people have posted above.
  18. I re-recorded a song I wrote! https://planetsteve.bandcamp.com/releases
  19. My odds projection, not counting postponement: 30% Explosion/RUD (Fuel tanks, pressurization gas, engines, batteries, or other.) 40% Success (Even partial. If it reaches orbit, it counts as success.) (Maybe slightly lower, I realize I'm being optimistic.) 20% Separation failure of some sort (Fairings, decoupler, ground clamps, etc.) 10% Other equipment failure (Communcation failure, Accelerometers installed upside-down, Ice on rocket leading to underperformance, etc.) That being said, I really hope they do pull this off!
  20. My family owned a suitcase with a mission sticker from an old NASA flight (50th Atlas Centaur) but it got moldy and we had to take it out to the garage. If it's still there I'm going to try and save that sticker!
  21. Hold my beer snacks. I got this! EDIT: I got this tomorrow! (How is it 11:30 already?)
  22. Assuming you only blow up four N1's before dying, I'd say only a few billion dollars.
  23. Last minute launch threads? But that's my job! I got up this morning and I'm like "Oh, there's a launch today! I should check if it will happen during school or not!" and then I looked and it had happened an hour ago... Yay for the successful launch!
  24. Just a quick update, things have been busy for me (finals, art shows, mother's day, tornados, etc.) and it may be a while before Chapter Eight. Mostly because at that point in the mission I didn't think it would be a mission report and I wasn't taking screenshots so I have to redo part of each launch. More coming soon-ish! It's not dead!
