  1. Hats off to you, this is probably one of the top 10 most impressive things done in KSP up to this point. Could you post the craft files by chance? I'd like to see the secret sauce on that Venus lander, and maybe apply it to my Eve stuff going forward. I know I expressed thoughts like this in the YouTube comments earlier, but I'm still very surprised that you got away without significant heat shielding. How does the RSS heat model work? It can't be the stock model, as stuff burns up at 3km/s or so. It can't be the RO model because everything except heat shields melt. Is it just a scaled up stock heat model?
  2. Oh, okay, looks like I misread it. I'm still gonna send Bob everywhere, though, he doesn't get out much.
  3. I considered that, but I was under the assumption that the large docking port would be too big for that. Oh well, too late now... Part 3 - The Odyssey Begins
  4. So! I've never done a grand tour. I've done a lot of other things, but, I've just never had the time and motivation to put together and fly an actual grand tour ship. Until now. I present to you: The Ultimate Space Ship Voyager! Powered by 8 NERV engines, capable of carrying six separate landers, and with a crew capacity of - ...Oh. Let's try that again, shall we... (temporary logo probably) Mod list: Part 1 - Mothership Assembly
  5. To be fair, that's just the space industry in general.
  6. In other areas of the internet I frequent, the reaction to this has been overwhelmingly negative. Normalization of deviance is part of what lead to the Challenger disaster. They have stopped short of saying that the entire system should be redesigned, so far at least, though. Thoughts?
  7. I can't say it for certain, but I think that HarvestR's (the guy who first made KSP) farewell to KSP is probably one of the top contenders, currently at a whopping 208 likes. I checked the top mission reports and fan works out there, and none of them come close, the ones I looked at were all below 100. It could also be an update announcement, but the KSP 2 announcement has less than 100 likes, so I can't imagine any single update surpassing the KSP 2 announcement. I think that's all of the obvious places to check, but without a way to check everything, I can't say for certain.
  8. >builds worlds first flight ready full flow staged combustion cycle engine >said engine has unparalelled ability to be mass produced relatively cheaply compared to other engines >builds over 50 of said engine >builds largest rocket ever >slaps 30+ engines on said rocket >scraps rocket and engine program >refuses to elaborate >leaves
  9. Probably a bit less if the deployment mechaimsm is counted in the payload.
  10. I don't have anything to add to this conversation, but I don't see this around much, and every time I do I have to point it out. This was one of the projects my grandpa worked on during his time at NASA. I can't tell you exactly what he did (didn't talk about his work much, got Alzheimer's, died), but you will find his name on several SP-100 PDFs.
  11. There just isn't much demand for a vehicle of that size in general, and what demand there is will lag behind availability significantly. With how much FH got delayed, not many people committed to it before it was real. Now that it is here and people can count on it, missions for it are springing up, but those missions take time to make. If you look at the manifest, there's like at least 5-10 flights planned through 2024 at this point.
  12. I hadn't checked that thread for a while, and yikes... This kind of reminds me of the back and forth people used to have with Kerbal7.
  13. Currently it is not widely believed that they will catch the ship with the arms. The booster, yes, but not the ship, at least not for a while.
  14. This actually happened the first time I went back to Eeloo, and it was before EVA parachutes! However, they did all survive the EVA fall into the water!
  15. So, uh, my desktop PC is broken and it is probably the motherboard or the graphics card, which probably means its gonna be expensive to replace. I don't know how long it is going to be.

That, combined with the fact that university just started up again, means that my regular content will not be happening for a while. I still have a laptop, but its KSP performance is dismal, and everything related to current projects is on the PC. So, for a while, there will be no Voyage, Intrepid, Space Battles, or anything else, pretty much.

However, I was about to start a text only story, working title "WIZARDS!" so be on the look out for that, as it is one of the few things I can do without the desktop.

  16. I think I have all the compatible ones, though. If you find more, though, let me know!
  17. Firework based weaponry has been considered, but for this whole thing is kind of a love letter to Macey Dean's old videos, I loved the style of his fights and I'm not currently using non standard weaponry or heavy armor to try to maintain that feel. However, I'll definitely check them out eventually.
  18. I installed Krita today and tried my hand at some art. Still not quite there, but I'm surprised it only took me four attempts to get that far.
