My two cents on the whole 'Female Kerbal' issue: I agree they should be as cute/funny looking as the men. Assuming they\'re mammal-esque, they may have a slight bust, but I do consider the hair would be the main differentiation. For example, I drew me as a Kerbal. I am woman, see me derp.

Upon first being introduced to Kerbal Space program, this was the first thing that came to mind... A couple of hours of high tech prototyping with old exercise paper and drawing in Photoshop later... Kerman in-flight finger puppets! They sit neatly on one hand.
