I'm not a huge fan of the idea either. -
Asimov I Launch Recap A thundering sonic boom was heard across the Gulf of Mexico, as Explore Aerospace's Asimov I sounding rocket plummeted through Earth's atmosphere, at approx. 16:13 this afternoon, just over an hour after its launch from LC20 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. Explores Asimov I sounding rocket shooting for the sky at T+00:22. Due to an unexpected power anomaly mission control lost signal with the craft at T+12:42. The craft reached a maximum recorded altitude of 2227.4 km and a projected apogee of 2500 ± 300 km. Its maximum velocity was 5163 m/s and its max acceleration was 24.1 g's. “Other than the power anomaly, the mission was a huge success.” Said an anonymous Explore employee. “We expect the cause of the power failure, to be a malfunction in the flight computer prior to launch, causing the craft to start draining electricity prematurely.” Said The Launch Operations Director for this flight. Although the failure, among others, has caused some doubt among RSP critics, they are still pushing forward to reach their ultimate goal of sending a man to the moon and back. ZooNamedGames, the head of RSP hopes for this launch to be a vital learning experience in its attempts to reach this goal. Let us hope that their dream comes true.
