  1. I would use the Rigid attachment and autostrut on that. I had a similar incident when testing a mk2 aircraft I built. One of the wings came off when I tried to turn around. Somehow I managed to land it and at least the cockpit and nose section survived the resulting crash.
  2. According to the patch notes it will be less likely to generate contracts that you decline now. If you read streetwinds post above he explains how the milestone contracts are generated now and how they work. Thats in the patch notes for 1.2 also. For example once I completed a flyby of the mun for the record keeping society they next wanted me to fly by minmus. after that they want me to dock to vessels together in Mun orbit.
  3. Yea not needing as much struts is great. I don't have the mining stuff yet but it's gonna be the next thing I research. Since we have containers for research now I have science equipment in a large storage bay in munar orbit atm. its got a docking bay for me to just snag it and land in another mun biome for more science farming. I was just trying to knock some more contracts out first. I want to get my final space center upgrade for my space plane hanger. back on topic though If I recall I think the contract system takes into account reputation so the more reputation you have the harder the contracts will be. I dump my reputation into an unpaid research program to convert rep to science so the contracts I get don't reach duna levels yet. Though it just offered me one for duna that I didn't take.
  4. That's what I was thinking of as well but I have only gotten my aircraft tech as far as high altitude flight and gotten the medium wheel and the research right before heavy aerodynamics. I have yet to figured out a design for a mk2 spaceplane in orbit.
  5. Very true. Right now I have 2 tourist contracts for 6 tourists total. I have too suborbital spaceflight and orbit Kerbin, fly by minmus and orbit minmus, fly by mun and orbit mun then land on the mun then get back to kerbin. I am trying to do both contracts in one launch because the 2 contracts together total 755,629. Issue is I am thinking a little too big on the rocket possibly. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=779972749 This rocket i made is 150,000 but the bottom and mid stages get the entire payload into orbit. Problem is the poodle on the payload can't handle the amount of weight in fuel I'm bringing. those radial tanks ran out when slowing down for mun orbit. My last attempt I landed on the mun. But I didn't have enough fuel to make orbit and crashed. I think maybe I should think smaller for this mission.
  6. I keep getting ones to expand a station in orbit which was one I threw together as cheaply as possible. It now supports up to 18 kerbals and is the most ugliest thing in the sky. Once I unlock a few more parts I think it's time to send it to a fiery death so I can build a proper station in orbit.
  7. Thank You Squad for all the awesome work you do. And a special thank you for all the guys that left, I wish you luck on your future!
  8. woot I managed to pull off a mun landing as well and several contracts I got my R & D maxed out and my vab as well. only upgrade left is the sph. Now I have to rendevous 2 vessel's in orbit of the mun. Should be easy peasy once I get some sleep. I also need to get a geostationary satellite network up at some point......
  9. Actually come to think of it I'm not sure why I threw the rcs on there in the first place. I drive an 18 wheeler so I am kinda tired. just got home earlier for hometime. Maybe i should actually do a proper mun landing this time. I have landed on the mun a few times but I blew up the engine and landing gear the few times I tried so I don't count them as succesfull.
  10. ok I pulled it off and got it after making more adjustments and changes to the rocket. Turns out you where right I had way more delta V than i needed for the trip. I flew by minmus first for the first contract then encountered and slowed down just enough to orbit the mun then immediatly sped up to escape then slow down to renter kerbin. http://imgur.com/a/kdfr6.
  11. Ok I got rid of the rcs all together and the terrier's. I also dropped the fl-t200's for the fl-t400. question though when I enable fuel crossfeed for the decouplers why is it feeding into one of the side tanks from the main tank on one of the radial tanks? http://imgur.com/a/Evkn3
  12. rcs has saved me in the past so i usually bring extra along in case I run out of fuel right as I need to slow down for a return. I will give these changes a shot.
  13. OK so I have 3 contract's 2 for vip's and 1 for 2 tourists. total value of the contracts all together is 188500. Anyways the 2 tourists and 1 vip want to go to the mun for a flyby and then orbit and back and the other vip wants to flyby minmus. problem without kerbal engineer I'm not sure exactly what delta V I need and If I have the parts unlocked to do this mission. I am playing the 1.2 prerelease. Here is the rocket design and the next image is the researched parts i have available. http://imgur.com/a/XqSim The idea was I could use the terrier's for orbital manuevers then when they where spent eject them and use the poodle. once in orbit I ended up activating the poodle early too make orbit and then I decided that the mission wouldn't work and reverted to the vab. The mainsail im using as the sustainer is at 75% thrust.
  14. I swapped tail fin out for another part and used 2 delta deluxe winglets its much more stable that way cant remember name of the part i used for the rudder. The reason why my plane has that much fuel is I had observational surveys over past where you find kerbins badlands. I managed to find a lake that was badlands for even more badlands science. I wonder if ther is water you can land in for a splashdown in the tundra and ice caps.
