  1. Still working on Kerbin orbit. I've been able to get a periapsis of 21,000 meters and a very large apoapsis. I think this is a product of my rocket being at about a fifty degree angle through the atmosphere. I'm figuring I need to be almost parallel to the ground when I get up to 70,000. Probably don't need full throttle on my engine either. Any tips? I want a circular orbit without having to maneuver after I'm in space.
  2. I've had this happen on the ps4. Just spin it like a top and keep checking. Sometimes you might have to reboot the tutorial. It's a little fidgety. Also make sure there wasn't an intermediate step that you may have missed. I was sitting around for 15 minutes before I figured I had to turn off CoM mode.
  3. When you say LKO are you implying I use a gravity turn to get there? I was playing around in career and built a rocket with level 3 parts that was capable of reaching ~94,000 m. I pretty much went up vertically and I did not have enough fuel to create a full orbit. But I suspect that if I tried angling it, my rocket would have cart-wheeled. I guess this is the challenge of the game. One of my issues is that I don't know how far a certain amount of fuel will take me under the ideal scenario. Let's say I was able to get 4 FLT100's into Kerbin's upper atmosphere with a nice gravity turn to top it off. Can I expect that to create an orbit that doesn't have a periapsis in the center of Kerbin?
  4. Thanks. I will try some of these tactics. I'm asking because I've been playing around with pre-made rockets in sandbox mode. Some of these rockets are described as having the ability to go to Minmus (at least i think) and I find a way to use up all of the liquid fuel just to get up to 170,000 m. I know, it's funny. Bear in mind, I've made it past the most basic of tutorials all with target assist on launch.
  5. Is the thrust-to-weight ratio displayed in-game? I thought I read somewhere that it's a mod on pc? I'm playing on console, so I only have the stock game. I'm sure I can still figure it out if not.
  6. Is there a rule of thumb for getting a rocket out of Kerbin's atmosphere? All that I've gathered thus far is that powerful rockets can get into space at shallower angles. Alternatively, a rocket solely designed for Kerbin orbit requires about a 45 degree angle when it's all said and done. Since target assist is not an option from launch, how do I know from rocket to rocket what the angle should be? Also, does career mode build off of the tutorials, or am I better off playing around in sandbox first?
  7. To circularize the orbit, should I use a retrograde burn or an anti-normal/normal maneuver?
  8. I've been working through the tutorials for ksp on ps4. I'm trying to get into Mun orbit. I understand the mechanics of maneuvers and I can get fairly close to the Mun. The tutorial wants me to have a relatively circular orbit under 200,000. My closest periapsis has been ~132,000 while my apoapsis has been ~240,000. My eccentricity has been 0.2. However, I run out of fuel to get any closer because the tutorial has me creating all these maneuvers and burning retrograde at least three times. Any suggestions. (Sometimes I get estimated burns to be 3-10 seconds. Is this a glitch or should I just roll with it?)
