I'm experiencing a significant performance hit with 0.5.7. I switched back and forth between 0.5.7 and 0.5.5 to confirm and it does seem to be 0.5.7 causing the problem. I didn't think to check the log but it could be due to the issue @symmeclept is reporting above.
