Disclaimer - I haven't actually played KSP on console

There should definitely be keyboard and mouse support, and many of the best mods should be unpaid DLC. Things like KER, RCS Build Aid, Vessel Mover, and Kerbal X all available for free. Other mods should also be available for free, but that would be WAYYYYYY too much stuff for an Xbox/Play Station store to hold, let alone have reviewed so they'd be downloaded from the internet like mods are for PC.

    Just my thoughts

In all honesty as a console player I wouldn’t mind if some version of these mods actual become some type of paid DLC as well as other things.(Such as more parts and planets).  It’s different than the modding community making mods for free as it’s a passion and hobby.  I’m more than willing to pay for additional content post release as it costs money for the devs to continue support to expand a game.  Sure free updates are always welcomed, but I’m a realist and understand not everything can always be free.(as long as pricing is appropriate).

I also realize mods are possible on consoles but usually not likely.  I think it’s more of a hassle for the devs to set the console version up to work with mods (just look at the trouble they are having getting the vanilla game to run) than it would be for them to just continue to make new content themselves and charge for it.

FYI they are not going to be releasing an updated version to the consoles anytime soon and if they do it won't be until 2020 at the latest. I'd suggest buying it for your PC/Mac guys. They basically have given up on the console builds, I mean the PC/Mac release is already at 1.3.1 going onto 1.3.2 here very soon. So its obvious that the console version will be one complete version behind the PC/Mac,  so Squad could care less about the consoles, their main focus is the PC/Mac

What is the point of this post?

I'm not saying you're wrong at all, and I am saying I don't remember specifics or timeframes, but I thought there was work that FTE and Squad released in an attempt to fix at least one of the console versions, if not both. The only reason I feel like I remember something about it is because I remember it didn't really fix much and it certainly didn't improve the issue of save game corruption which was one of the biggest issues affecting pretty much all users of the console versions. So, (if my memory isn't as bad as the save games on consoles) technically they did put out a patch that tried to fix things, and failed miserably. Hence the firing of FTE and a restart from scratch by Blitworks leading to a rather lengthy delay on the release date.

I might be wrong, and either way whatever frustration you've experienced is beyond justified. I sincerely hope that 3 months from now you and all console players will have finally had the chance to start having positive feelings about your time with KSP. It's been a heck of a wait and I really hope it finally feels worth it all.

I appreciate your  understanding for us console folk.   The PS4 version definitely was never patched.  I'm not entirely sure about the Xbox (it may have), and if it was I guess it didn't work which maybe the reason the PS4 never got it.  As disappointed I am that it is still three months out, I at least appreciate them finally telling us how far out we are (the only real gripe I have had with this process).  Yeah I'm frustrated, annoyed, maybe a bit bitter that for the last year I haven't been able to enjoy this game that has been sitting dormant on my system, but I'm sure when the update comes I can and will  get back to enjoying the game I really got hooked on.

  4. All the jokes that they really meant early 2018 when they originally stated early next year ended up actually true.

Note to squad/blitworks: I hope you realize the epic fecal downpour that will deluge these forums if we reach February 1st without a release.....no pressure

This is true and it’s not going to because they didn’t hit the time frame that they now have given us, rather because it will have been over a year since they announced the update and over a year and a half since they have released a broken game with out one patch to attempt to fix it.

Judging by the fewer and fewer people that seem to comment on this, it seems that the console fanbase for KSP is soon to be as dead as Venus. A shame really...

I'm still here, though I am losing interest in the game.  Haven't even tried to play in months and the longer it goes the less likely I will even care when the update does come out.  If they intend to wait to fix every bug then they will be waiting forever because no game is ever bug free.  They should have at the very least updated the game for people that have already bought the game months ago.   They could have waited until their hearts content to rerelease the game, but to leave us hanging with a broken game for well over a year is horse............    A playable game with the bugs they have mentioned for the time being would have been far better then where we are now, and they owed us that (a playable game, mind you the game never even received a patch for the PS4 to attempt to fix it).

  6. True, but back then they weren't telling us much let alone what ever bugs that are remaining are minor.  I guess I having a little glimmer of hope that it may be sooner than later at this point, but they have made it seem that way before.

Well, one of T2's biggest games, GTA V, is chock full of microtransactions, so I'm gonna say that this will be a bad thing.

Also, T2 is abhorrently against modding, as evidenced by the GTA V PC mods fiasco. I'm awaiting the day that we have to pay for LOx resources and F2P, play-to-win rocket parts. The allure of a quick buck is too great for T2 to ignore.

I would be surprised if this game ever came to that given how long the game has been out and it's  established mod support.  On the other hand if any new game was to be produced in the Kerbal Universe the possibility is definitely there.

    "Early next year

Its absolutely ridiculous that the end of September is upon us and still Squad has left their customers high and dry.  Some seriously shameful situation here.  They never should have attemped the console money grab.

As frustrated as I am that we are still stuck with the game in its currant state, they really haven't left us high and dry.  They are rebuilding it with a new developer.   Their biggest mistake was hiring a developer that was inept and couldn't handle the task given to them.  They could have thrown a few bandaid patches and been done with it, but they didn't and hopefully they will continue to support the game after 1.2 finally does drop.

My biggest gripe with this ordeal is their lack of being up front with us from the beginning.   As well as their refusal to put time frames on their progress leaving us pretty much in the dark to any remote idea as to when we will get the update.

Truthfully, I'm not sure that justifies the $499 price tag. Just for 4K gaming, slightly better visuals, and improved performance.

I already spent $500 on a Forza 6 Xbox One, so another $500 is a lot to ask for when I'm not getting too much more.

Yeah, I'm out on the mid gen console upgrade.  It's just not worth it unless I had to buy a new one for one reason or another, but my PS4 is just fine for now.

Whats the general consensus on current saves...do you think we will lose the current saves as the game is being started from scratch...id like to keep my save if possible but its a sacrifice i would make for a working game.

I honestly wouldn't not mind either way.  Hopefully we will find out soon enough.  It sounds like they have ironed out most of the bugs and are concentrating on getting the controls perfected.  Doesn't sound like there is much left for them to do to get it ready.   At least that is my impression, but it has seemed that way before and that was months ago so I'm not holding my breath.  Just trying to be optimistic.

  11. It's not unplayable, however when it's not worth it to try any mission farther than minmus because of the potential of losing the mission into oblivion after hours of invested time kind puts a damper on a desire to play.   I enjoy playing the career mode, and I just can not do what I'd like to without losing my data.   I have had one successful mission to Duna, which was my first, a probe to Duna and back to see if I could do it.  After that the next four missions I attempted to Duna crashed well into the mission and had the data corrupted.

From time to time I will mess around in sandbox just trying to come up with different types of ships, and maybe do a short mission in career,  but I can't bring myself to play for any extended period of time in career because of the likely hood of wasting my time from corrupted data.

  12. I appreciate the fact that they actually made a reference to time in this post.  I wish they did that quite a while back and more often.

Then they made a point to say this version is being built from the ground up.(though we figured that was the case on our own). Which leads me to ask what their initial intentions were when they gave the early part of the year time frame.  Shirley they didn't believe that they could hit that target if they were starting from the ground up.  So in all likely hood there was a change in plans there somewhere, and they decided to wipe the slate clean and start fresh.  I really wish they had come clean with us back then and just told us that and that it was going to take another year.

It is just concerning that we are this far into them working on it and we still have no idea when it will even be close to done. They make the weekly update sound positive, but with every passing week the longer it takes the more likely it seems they'll never get it to where they want it.  I'm not mad in anyway at this point, just worried it may never get resolved.

That would not be the end of the world TBH, 1.2 (assuming it's 1.2.2) is solid.

All 1.3 really adds is localisation, Asteroid Day and ambient lighting if I remember rightly.

It's not so much what 1.3 adds it's more of if we don't get 1.3 we most likely aren't getting the DLC. Which would be a bummer.

  14. 1 hour ago, LegendaryAce said:

Yeah, I know, I know. It's just the lack of any update towards ANY kind of time frame. The least they could do is say before 2018. That way I won't be debating on whether to permanently shelve KSP or not.

(I apologize for my mood. This week has not been nice.)

I'm with you,  it just seems like they are just kicking the can down the street when it comes to finding and fixing bugs.   I mean let's be realistic here, there is no chance that when ever they decide to release that the game will be bug free.  Have they had a completely bug free version for the PC since it's very first update until now? I'm going to guess no.  So at some point the game is going to have to be in a state that is stable enough to release and continue to fix bugs in an ongoing update practice as is done on PC.  The state the new version is in can't be any worse then the version we have now........

Do what I do. Don't delude yourself into thinking there will be an update, that way when there is, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Lol,  unfortunately it's too late for that. I keep trying to play the game and it constantly reminds me it's going to get better.................soon.

  16. Yeah, I appreciate the updates on the work they are doing, but we are in the dark as to any idea of when we might get it.  I do understand the repercussions of not hitting a target date and not knowing what bugs will pop up next.  I don't see the harm in an estimate at this point.  I mean after blowing past the early 2017 time frame now entering later 2017 they surely have have a much better idea.  Don't they?

I definitely agree, Do you think it would be too optimistic to think they might give people who bought the game over a year ago, something extra as a good will gesture? some free future DLC or something? :D

I'm just hoping we actually get the DLC.  There has been no reference to them even bringing it to the consoles as of yet.  However if they do bring it to console (most likely they will) it would be a nice gesture to at least give a discount on release for a short time.  Not that I expect that or even mind if they didn't it would still be nice and appreciated.

Im still glad and very happy they went with a new dev and a rebuild for 1.2, but with the light at the end of the tunnel almost invisible with only the comfort that eventually we will get it is growing stale.  I just wish they were more forthcoming with the progress.  As it is we are completely in the dark with no end in sight.  If it is soon, then how soon?  If it's still a way off, how far away.  If they owe us anything, it's at least that.  I get that Squad doesn't work that way and it's not their norm,  but the console situation has been anything but the norm and has special circumstances.

  18. I really hope the update is imminent,  Every other session I play ends in corrupted date losing hours of gameplay. I have been playing less and less because it is unbelievably frustrating.  I know they are trying to deliver an as bug free game as possible, but this crash and corrupt data issue we have been dealing with for over a year now is beyond ridiculous.  They need to update this game ASAP  to deal with this literally game braking issue and deal with other issues as they arise in future patches.   Everyone says to be patient,  well waiting over a year is going above and beyond patient as this point.

I have been eagerly awaiting the update not only for the fixes but the extra's that are added as well, but the more I try to play the the more resentful I get.  I have shelved the game numerous times, but always try to come back for my love of the game only to end in disappointed and frustration.  Sorry if I'm coming off a little whiney but I just need to vent a bit after this last session I attempted to play.  I realize a post on a forum isn't going to accomplish anything, but it's nice to get stuff off your chest.  Thanks for listening.

Ahh. So vague. Just what I'm used to.

Would it kill them to give an estimate on how much is done? Not even when they'll release, but how far percentage wise they'd guess.

Oh, on a side note, next Wednesday marks 400 days since release.

I'd settle for a solid date it won't be released by.  I mean if they know it won't be ready before November, then let us know. Then when they get closer to November and it still looks a few months off update it and say it won't be out before January and so on.  At least then we wouldn't be sitting in limbo waiting on a weekly update.

I don't believe there's been any mention on the control scheme besides the fact that it's being "improved".

As a 17 year veteran of the Ace Combat series, I'm most comfortable with the Left Stick controlling pitch and roll, the Triggers controlling throttle, and the Bumpers controlling yaw. So if that was an option for in-atmosphere craft, I'd be happy.

If not, at the very least, could it be like Fallout where I can edit the button bindings? IL-2 Sturmovik and Birds of Steel both had that option.

The problem with this is that they're not even in the Cert process. From what it's sounding like, it sounds like it's still in Alpha, maybe early Beta. I wouldn't count on seeing the RE-RELEASE until possibly October.

    Isn't Q A usually towards the end?

  21. 18 hours ago, Jeremiah said:

You know what they could've/should've done? Released the current build as an open beta for those who bought it for console. Not for testing, but so they can play a better version than what's currently available while they wait for the game to be re-released. AKA early access.

It is now July 12th and has officially been a full year. I will certainly not be recommending KSP to anyone ever again and I will never again buy a game from Squad.

While I'm certainly not happy that it has been a year without an update to fix a single issue on the PS4 version, the situation seems to be different than most other games.   I don't completely blame Squad, they simple just chose very poorly when finding a dev to handle the port.  The fact that they recognized that Flying Tiger completely butchered the port. Then they parted ways and chose a new dev to pick up the pieces shows they care.   They care enough to have someone redo what another dev completely [ruined].

Its been a painful wait,  I just hope that the new build was worth the wait and we get a much better experience when all is said and done.  After all it is a great game and I'd love to see continued support for the console versions.
