  1. Tried flying, saw a couple landers exploding when I got close, ran out of RCS during final approach, had to manually steer the ship with the main engines (which I\'m not used to), managed to land 150m from the rest of you, decided it wasn\'t close enough, lifted off again, tried to get closer, freak out, ship goes upside down, i save it from the skin of my teeth, one engine hits the ground, stuff explodes, i eject the command pod, it crashes on the ground, bounces once and then blows up, and the uncontrolled and asymmetrical engine block made it a good fifteen kilometers from the landing site before exploding. All in all not a bad experience. Back to the design board, and I\'ll try putting a new and updated version on the Mun tomorow. In the meantime here\'s a little teaser, the Hephaistos Class Heavy Mun Payload Carrier ! (Notice how the command pod can lift off and land on its own, provided there is still RCS fuel of course).
  2. I\'m downloading this file to check it out (the one Samonite posted), and I might send my new Mun Base design up there while I\'m at it. If someone flew in the mean time I\'ll just add my ship to his file.
  3. This is really getting messy, I think we should really take a decision regarding non-stock parts. I for one am against non-stock parts, what about you guys ?
  4. I\'d like that, can you upload the stock base too ? Since Gojira still hasn\'t posted links to the mods he used... EDIT: Just checked the Stock save, still only two ships standing! What happenned to the Lunacy Mk3 ? I couldn\'t even find the other parts of the lander.
  5. Lolwut How did you get that off the ground ?
  6. Lol what happened here exactly ? how did your landing gear end up flung out of the system ? I\'m pretty sure the game crashes. So I guess it would be nice if you could provide us with the link of the mod and the lists of the parts you used so we don\'t have to extract them all.
  7. I was checking out the latest version of the file and I noticed this lone small engine halfway through Kerbin and the Mun, it\'s from MoB 10 if I\'m not mistaken. So I was wondering, what\'s the story ? How did this part end up torn off the ship halfway through the Munar transfer ?
  8. I like Badlanding, it really captures the essence of how a lot of crafts got here ;D I\'ll probably fly again tomorrow if i see that the thread isn\'t active (GMT+1 here), and this time I won\'t use a ship that\'s designed to go back, to be able to bring more cargo to the base.
  9. I\'m guessing yours since God didn\'t actually do anything yet ? God for your next attempt use Trbinsc\'s link, and don\'t hit 'end flight' or it will delete everything you have done, just return to space center and exit the game. EDIT: just checked the latest file, you guys are being quite eco friendly (well besides MoB 10 which scattered crap all over the place ), there isn\'t a lot of debris.
  10. Just checked the file you uploaded, I can\'t see any difference. Did all your stages fall back on Kerbin ?
  11. Use G to open your gear And yes there is a way. The trick is to have your orbit pass straight above the target landing site, and kill your horizontal velocity. From there you just have to keep your speed in check for a smooth landing, while fine tuning along the way with the RCS. You\'ll get the hang of it, don\'t worry ! How far from the landing site did you crash ? You should upload your save anyway, and add to the various space debris and discarded equipement scattered on the moon and in space
  12. And as promised here it is ! The Prometheus Class Mun Lander Mark 3 (stock parts only) has joined the other two landers at the base site. I left the orbit insertion booster and the transmunar injection fuel tanks neatly in orbit around Kerbin and the mun, respectively. Protocol would dictate that the two auxiliary boosters be jettisoned before lift off, and that the return trip be made only with the return stage\'s small booster, but this requires pinpoint accuracy, so in case one of you wants to take her back home someday I suggest using what\'s left of the auxiliary boosters\' juice to make the first impulsion. So yeah that\'s pretty much it! And the ships has been cleared Beast-free by the Kith-Sa\'s engineers, so we should be good =P
  13. Hi everyone, I just downloaded the Save file from sal_vager\'s post and I\'m about to send another lander to your little party, I hope that\'s okay. I\'ll update this post with the new save files once i\'m done 8)
  14. Which is most return stages (that I\'m using, at least), and if the craft doesn\'t fit, you can always eject the command module and deorbit it alone.
  15. Hi, I\'d like to enter my HK/M O R&R (High Kerbin/Mun Orbit Rescue and Recovery) Craft in the competition. It\'s capable of reaching high orbits and even (according Kerbal Scientists, it has never actually been done) orbits around the Mun. Due to its odd shape it is highly advised that you do not disengage the ASAS under any circumstances during atmospheric flight. The HKMO is designed to catch a small return stage, or command pod within its docking bay and trap it by extending landing legs, as you can see in the attached pictures (Open, and then closed). I\'ll post an update when I manage to rendez-vous with a space craft that I placed in LKO for testing purposes with pictures of the retrieval attempt, but I\'m having troubles achieving it without a proper way to compute orbit synchronization. How do you guys do it by the way ? I know the theory (lower orbit to catch up, higher to wait up), but I can\'t get to pass close enough.
