  1. I don't think that would make it all the way to orbit, it's only 4140 vac ∆v. A 1m lander can, x200-16 fuel tank, and LV-T30 would do it quite easily, at 4797∆v.
  2. Just ran a Mun return mission with an approximation of your minmus ship, the biggest problem is the second stage TWR. I would suggest replacing that central engine with an LV-T30 if you're using a T45 there. Other options are cutting mass from the payload(lighter lander legs, and perhaps replacing the capsule with a 1man lander can) or replacing the FL-T400 fuel tanks in the bottommost stage with FL-T800s, so your low TWR stage is at a point of your ascent where it doesn't matter that it's low TWR. I'd also try removing some of the fins or nosecones if you aren't having problems with attitude control.
  3. The Mun ship has WAY too heavy a payload, but the Minmus ship should be able to get to the Mun. Maybe put the lighter landing legs on it instead of those heavy ones.
  4. I can't wait to see what the "recover vessel" button does for a landed asteroid.
  5. When someone says TMI and you think they're talking about a Mun mission.
  6. How hard would it be to re-do the biome map color legend based on how much science we've retrieved from each area? The map would start with everything the same color gray with just the white lines showing the boundaries, and as you collect science from each biome, it gets more saturated. When you've collected 100% of the possible science from a planet, it's fully saturated and the biomes have different colors.
  7. Ship going to Laythe: The Ferryman Ship going to Eve: Lilith Ship going to Duna and Ike: Dwight Ship going to Mun: Munophage (the lander looks like a bacteriophage) etc.
  8. What are your motivations? How is your understanding of physics different than my own? What other information would you like to share?
  9. I'm curious if we'll have to use a telescope in order to "detect" the asteroids
  10. VAB_ANGLE_SNAP_INCLUDE_VERTICAL = True CONIC_PATCH_LIMIT = 8 I've also moved the fuel line part to a different folder, so it shows up on the first page of propulsion Vertical snap is useful for keeping your asparagus lined up, and the parts that need to be attached somewhere other than the center(landing legs for example) are infrequent enough that I can get the angle right manually.
  11. Maybe the grapple won't let you time accelerate while it's attached, kind of like kerbals on ladders. To get around that they'd basically have to have the arm create a docking port on the surface of the asteroid.
  12. Make Jeb sit next to the launchpad and watch unmanned probes launch for exciting missions.
  13. Look at the time axis of the graphs, 6350 is slower than the i3 3250.
  14. Works for ports aligned with your center of mass and thrust, but when that's not the case it's much easier to use RCS and the docking port alignment mod.
  15. I hope "4ghz" means you're overclocking, instead of getting a CPU with that stock clock, because a 4670k is almost certainly a better buy for KSP http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/42877-CPU-Performance-Database
  16. I did it in I think .21 for a reddit challenge. There was some testing during the design phase and some quickloading during the mission, but I didn't have to go back to the drawing board. I used a thrust plate to get off of kerbin and to Eve, and it doubled as a platform I attached all my landing legs to(many many landing legs).
  17. High TWR launches that look slow because of a low max ∆t per frame. You know, something like 25 mainsails and a bunch of SRBs that takes about half an hour to make it into orbit.
  18. "Maybe I can land this boat back at KSC." http://imgur.com/a/Ryjqc
  19. I've only used them on a craft to map the sun with SCANsat where I needed something like 40~50 km/s ∆v. I would probably use them more if the mass was cut, but I don't think thrust should be increased or energy usage decreased.
  20. My first experience with KSP was the .13 demo, which included a mun landing+return with no landing legs, as well as dropping a rocket into the sun(which at the time lacked a surface), to be subsequently ripped apart by tidal forces, and flung into the abyss at insane velocities.
  21. That's really strange, because twitch still isn't working for me. I tried a fresh install and checked ksp.log but didn't see anything useful. Did you use an oauth token as the server password?
  22. I can't seem to get it to work with twitch chat. I can connect to twitch chat with xchat, and I can connect to esper.net with KSPIRC, but when I try to use the KSPIRC plugin with the twitch server password(oauth token), I get this: http://i.imgur.com/Qkwv9vc.png If I use the wrong, or no password, I get this: http://i.imgur.com/QRxuETt.png
  23. Does this support server passwords? I'd like to use it with twitch chat.
