Same for me. The game crashes before it even comes to the start menu. I think it's a very bad idea to do automatic updates in this manner. Out of nowhere the whole game is broken. True, using mods is always a risk, but once I start to fiddle with the installation, I don't want Steam or anybody else change anything without my knowledge! This is a real show-stopper.
