To avoid a new topic: What are some rules for fuel lines? I recently figured if two ships docked in space, resource transfers wouldn't be a problem. I could not refuel my lander simply by docking. It's made me a little nervous to build another mission just yet. Anyone mind giving me a nutshell breakdown of fuel lines? I'd appreciate it a lot. :3

My Minmus hopping mission was a partial success. The tanker was poorly designed, and could not transfer fuel to the returning lander. As a result, only one series of Minmus biome hops was undertaken. I had managed to get the Poles, Highlands, Midlands, Lowlands, Great Flats, and the Slopes, then dock with my tanker for the journey home. I'm very disappointed that my poor building knowledge crippled my mission's potential science return. Having learned a lesson, and returned with a modest amount of valuable science, I'm going to do an even better job next time, and finish using Minmus up for all the science it's worth, like the aging toothless whore it is.

EDIT: Included some satellites to set up a communications relay. Get two birds stoned at once or whatever. My new rocket flies beautifully. Rock solid! I got frustrated and brute-forced a Minmus encounter. Slingshots are hard. Once again I fired off spent boosters at the surface of the moon to avoid space junk. I circularized my AP and PE orbit within 100M difference of each other. Satisfying! Now I have a full orange tank of fuel for hopping, and 6 small pods-worth of propellant for docking. I'm not sure what to expect of such a tall narrow lander. I'm crossing my fingers.

EDIT: Rapid Unscheduled Dissassembly due to: Not enough boosters. Built a new rocket. The CM is essentially an orbital tanker for multiple landings. What do you think of my lander design? I'm not good at fuel planning, hence my tanker for a Minmus mission. Is it going to be adequate for a proper Minmus science ravaging?

I have a minmus landing trip and then a proper conquest of the mun, then I'll be focusing on a space station and a comprehensive communication network like yours I imagine. (3 Geosync sats on each Mun and Kerbin.) Lots to do for appetizers in KSP before doing scary stuff!

Making this post while I wait for my tourists to safely land. My most ambitious mission to date so far in my career. A trip to Munar orbit, Minmus orbit, and back to kerbin with 6 passengers. Not really a big deal but I'm really trying to make hay while the sun is shining. Easy lucrative contracts haven't exactly been falling into my lap this time around! I redesigned my ship to include 3 extra boosters with fuel lines feeding my upper stages. I try to avoid space junk, so I held onto the spent boosters until my Mun encounter. Sorry Mun! Like I said, my craft isn't anything special, but it's fairly reliable for how little I legitimately calculate things. (Essentially never.) I appreciate the good work it does. In the end I hauled in 22 contract notifications worth $810,000 not including the cost of the vehicle.

Welcome back home, money- I mean kerbals...

That's my favorite ship ever Edit: Also, just made this to test out my new IVA mods you suggested. Wish me luck! I'm not a coputer whiz. Double Edit: I have already encountered problems... The MK1-3 replaces the MK1-2 command pod, which was the one I planned to use the most. That will probably bug me too much to use the mod for what it's worth to me, but I appreciate the suggestions. It looks like I'll probably keep playing stock for now. The instruments are adequate enough for me to land planes and landers confidently. @kurgut

I just gave you your 1000th rep. ;3 Congratulations! Edit: I regret posting the image lol. This forum format was not designed for vertical mobile phone screenshots of posts!!

Bookmarked your post. Will check later! :3 Thanks man!

Definitely. Maybe it's time to be fully immersed. That first person EVA mod sounded really interesting as well. Performance drain?

Naw I play stock. I just meant action groups are the only way to interact with your ship in IVA. I haven't cared enough to bother with them; I just exit IVA to interact. And that still doesn't help with knowing how much fuel you have left or whether or not you've completed a burn for a maneuver. I'll break down and mod KSP one day...
-
Dicking around in IVA view for the most part. I really love the flight instruments, but I don't like how you can't check fuel levels or interact with the ship without using action groups among other small things. EDIT: Making maneuvers in space! 3:< Anyone else use IVA as much as possible? :3 I'm addicted; landing is so fun! (I have no fingernails left.)

That thing is so damn cool...

Rather than create a thread I'll derail this topic if that's okay! - - - - My strategy for re-entry/landing on Kerbin with capsules carrying the mission's payload of scientific data from the Mun/Minmus have been pretty brutal. I just generally dip into the atmosphere at about 35K at retrograde and burn off my remaining fuel in an attempt to slow myself down, then staging the spent engine to separate. The capsule always makes it down in one piece. I feel like accuracy basically isn't reasonably possible with this approach. The capsule itself makes it back in one piece, but for my own morbid OCD I would love to have some sort of elegant technique to actually touch down at KSC. Is there anything you guys do to mentally ballpark re-entry from an extreme inclinations? I'd love to have the chance to fine tune re-entry and trim altitude using nothing but the lift capabilities and reaction wheels of a command pod. It would really really make my day. <3

Just getting back into KSP again. I think I'll download the DLC since it's free and the command pods look insane. My space program was in pretty desperate need of funding for a while until I came back from a polar Mun orbit with observational data from high, low, and each and every biome with what I had available. (Crew/EVA Reports, Goo can, Thermometer, and Barometer, and Science Jr.) Afterwards contracts for Mun trips began to flood in at 100K a passenger. Trips to the Mun are no big deal so I designed this: It's overkill, but I can make half a mil with each trip.

SPACE STATIONS! Post your pictures here

I really like small simple stuff like this. It's probably something similar to what I would build.
