  1. I noticed that when constructing an external command seat as a 'part', an engineer can't pick it up in construction mode (I'm not using KIS/KAS), but when I move it out of a container - it does work.

When inspecting the save file I noticed that the 'type' of the VESSEL containing the part is "Rover". When editing it to "DroppedPart", it was 'pickable' again.

Is there a proper way to build the command seat so it can be picked?

  2. Another question, if you will -

I'm using K&K planetary bases but not KIS/KAS.

Apparently, the Planetary Hub part serves as an EL Launchpad, but after building is complete, I get a "No sites found. Explosions likely" message on the launchpad's dialog.
(If I do click "finalize build", the part/craft appears somewhere in the vicinity of the base).

Is it possible to add a "site" without a new launchpad?
I read the manual but couldn't find explanation for this.

  3. Hi, I just started using the mod, and so far it seems very useful.

However, something really krakeny happened when I tried to build a survey stake on launchpad (is there a reason not to, except for what happened next?)

When clicking "finalize", the game switched to the loading screen, expanded a few GB RAM, and when it came back, it was frozen, showing only the back ground "space", and every toolbar item was doubled. (I could nothing other than killing the process).

The log just showed a long list of NullReferenceExceptions.

    Seems ok to me.

    • If you have SystemHeat installed, do you have enough cooling? Enough electricity?
    • Sift-O-Tron is an atmospheric processor, not an exospheric processor

What do you mean by 'shuts down', really? I might need some reproduction steps, mod list, etc.

I do have SystemHeat, enough cooling and enough electricity (the Bussard seems to work fine while landed).

You can see it here - I'm turning it on, there are changes in the system heat panel, and it immediately turns off.

My mod list isn't very big. Basically - most NF mods, far future tech, DMagic orbital science, and Konstruction, but here is a full list anyway:

  5. I still can't find a way to make the exospheric harvesters (Bussard and Sift-o-Tron) to work.
I tried the Bussard particle scoop - It works on the ground (Kerbin), but as soon as I start the flight it shuts down immediately after I turn it on (just like the Sift-o-Tron). Same behavior in atmosphere and outside it (I checked the log, it doesn't show anything when I (try to) turn the harvester on).
When using the atmospheric ramscoop things did work and I was able to harvest oxidizer (In Kerbin) up to a very decent altitude.

So, what am I doing wrong? is there any guide or reference for using these parts?

    Hi,

I updated to space dust 0.4 (with all dependencies).

  8. Hi @Nertea,

I'm having a problem with atmospheric harvester (the "Sift-o-tron 250") and it kinda sucks, or rather - doesn't.

When on Kerbin - it works with no problem - connected a battery, harvester, radiators and an empty tank and it starts harvesting right away (surprisingly, even if the tank is full, but never mind that).

When around Jool (below/above 200KM, doesn't make a difference), it just shuts off a second after I turn it on. (Space Dust tool-menu shows there's LH in both atmosphere and exosphere).

The system-heat-loop has plenty of heat-rejection (17MW), and I have plenty of room, plenty of power, but still nothing.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Hmm, I can see from the code why that might happen, but not certain why I don't see it, Maybe linux thing. I'll see about a fix.

I'm with system heat 0.3.9, still getting the same NullReferenceException after returning from EVA to a craft. (also using heat control, far future technology and most of the near-future mods).

P.S. I worked around it by saving the game in EVA, quitting the game, relaunching and reloading.

Once again I suspect I am missing something obvious.

I am attempting a basic ISRU production to produce cryo H2 from hydrates. All was going well until I hit the step of trying to use the ISRU Refrigerator to convert my Hydrogen to liquid H2. Everything looks good. There is ample power, my H2 tank is empty while my Hydrogen tank is full. But I am getting no activity. The only buttons I see are to "toggle Refinery Window" and  "produce fusion pellets". Toggling the refinery window only brings up the options to use atmospheric extraction or solar wind. Atmospheric extraction when toggled does start producing H2 in small quantities, as I am testing on Earth (using RSS).

My understanding is that the Refrigerator should just automatically start producing the liquid version of the selected gas in question, right?

Using latest version of KSP-E with KSP 1.8.1 and RSS.

The refrigerator doesn't exactly "automatically" converts anything.
If you have both liquid H2 and (gaseous) H2 tanks, then the refrigerator would have a slider that determines the direction of the conversion.

Downloaded the mod and I have no clue what I need to create a basic and small warp vessel to get to another star system and never come back.

    This mod is crazy lol

If you have the Alcubierre drive and the Muon catalyzed fusion reactor or the plasma antimatter reactor (better) it's pretty easy. The trick is to overload the Alcubierre drive so anti-gravity kicks in, and once you're high enough - point to your target and engage warp. Make sure you have enough radiators because these reactors lose efficiency as they get hotter.
Landing can be trickier, because you need to either de-circularize using another engine (or engines), or carefully plan your warp exit point so you get low horizontal velocity.
If you're playing career mode, you'll probably want to get the ship back to KSC, so better add some strong RCS to zero down your horizontal velocity.
I have several designs that work pretty well. I haven't tested them on systems outside Kerbol (because Kopernicus doesn't work on KSP 1.9), but I've been using them to land pretty much everywhere in Kerbol.

  12. Is there a documentation somewhere for how the Alcubierre drive works in the game?
I got this problem - I'm using a Muon Catalised fusion reactor that can sustain 1.6GW, but starts at about 2.1GW.

The information the drive gives me is:
    Total warp power: 400t
    Warp to mass ratio: 10.3794
Max allowed throtle: 0.0025c (there's a typo there, should be "throttle")
    Current selected speed: 0.0130c
    Abs min power warp: 185.6453MW
    Current power for warp: 1628.2166MW
    Power at max speed: 3712.9050MW
Is there explanation to what all these numbers mean?

When I increase the selected speed, say, to 0.02c the only thing that changes is that the "Current power for warp" decreases to 1312.7012MW.
I noticed that if raise the speed up to 1c, the "current power for warp" equals to the "abs min power warp".

Anyway, even when the "current power for warp" is well below my reactor's capacity, I get a message "critical power supply at [X], deactivating warp drive".

  13. I finally started using the Alcubierre drive for "useful" things. I went to Dres, picked up a homesick Kerbal, when I charged the drive, targeted Kerbin and hit Engage, em, I mean "Activate Warp Drive" it started moving to Dres instead. I un-targeted Kerbin and targeted it again, and this time it went in the right direction.

    Any idea what's going on?

If you wish to install InterstellarFuelSwitch-Core 3.14.1.5 via the CKAN, then please manually uninstall the mod which owns:

Your GameData has been returned to its original state.
    Error during installation!

Is there something I can do or that I'm doing wrong?

    It happens sometimes.

Just delete the aforementioned MiniAVC.xml, and update the mods again.
