  1. And as I have a day off tomorrow and can stay up late, I have another one: My Minmus Science Lab got low on fuel. So...after it had given me tons of science already, I decided to launch it up to the space station above to refuel and rotate the crew, so it could go to some more biomes yet unvisited... ....realizing on approach that at the time I had launched this science lab, I didn't have a space station, didn't know how to dock (so it doesn't even have a docking port), ...and all that... Well, at least the two scientists and one brave captain were able to EVA over to the space station, drinking tea (or do they have k-beer up there???) with some old friends up there. Happy times! "Minmus Science Lab" got renamed to "Minmus Science Lab Memorial" and tagged as debris...not sure if it safe to keep it in that orbit so close to the space station. RIP
  2. Made my first ore miner&transport today, yay! On the occasion I had to built my biggest rocket so far, to get those 40++ tons to Mun. Which worked on the first try leaving me speechless hehe. (Only chose the mun because of a contract...would have gone to Minmus otherwise) But then, after landing it I found out about the many design flaws I built into it (please don't count them from what you can see....or well, do as you wish ;-) ) What I accidentally built here is actually a "moonwalker"...the ore drill wobbles the whole thing around slowly... ....
  3. Ahhhh, thx sometimes, when I rightclick on the image in imgur and choose "copy image location", and paste here in the forum...the pic shows right up. Sometimes it doesn't...I am a bit confused by this. There are several ways to copy links/locations/shares on imgur. And they seem to not behave consistent in this forum for me. I am fiddling every time. Any "bullet proof" way to integrate pics here? Thx again for letting me know the bracket way, worked on this one time. And I will remember it.
  4. The force is getting strong in my comm network in the local system. looking quite green this...i think the kerbals will like it!
  5. I enhanced my Minmus Space Station with an ore storing/processing module.... ...and then, just out of no reason at all, built a really ugly electric rover to meticulously pick up tiny bits of leftover science around KSC. Later I thought I'd try to see if it can climb mountains....it Ken't!
  6. Guys.... so sorry to have wasted your time... but still thankful for your help and input. I actually managed to "double turn" my one docking port on the second vessel in construction. So it was with the "bad end" out again on my second try. Took me one hour now to correct that, launch again, go to minmus again, rendevouz (again), and actually DOCK FOR THE FIRST TIME since I play this game So...sorry for my stupidity, but thx anyway...learned some new things from your answers none-the-less! And soooo happy now to have all these hours of mistakes corrected and feeling like I know a bit better what I am doing again lol.
  7. No attractive force at all.. Wow, it is 2,5 km for the physics range...! New knowledge for me there. Thx. Going to give it a try...monopropellant I have enough You tink it's no problem that it is the retrograde target marker there, instead of the prograde target marker?
  8. Thx for your input. @Rocket In My Pocket Please have a look at my updated question and note that I made it a bit difficult to read, as I edited the new information on top of the old, instead of below. Would be great though if you had an answer to the new/persisting problem.
  9. Hey, please check my updated post above. You were 100% right on your first answer, so I hope you might have the solution to the "updated problem" @Reactordrone
  10. Well, now I am officially going crazy... (This post is "upside down"...as I edited things on top of things. I hope it doesn't confuse too much) Sooo...I reloaded to before building my space station core, made sure all docking ports were now corrected to the way around so they can actually dock. Launched it and did the same to the next part which was supposed to dock with it. No "+" to be seen on any of the Sr. docking ports, viewed from the outside. According to the Wiki entry on the Sr. docking port these should now all be correctly placed. Still they don't dock. What seems to be obviously (according to the tutorials) wrong...is that I always get the retrograde target marker aligned, not the prograde target marker...see this picture: The picture is taken on purpose while still some distance away from the supposed docking, because when I get really close that retrograde target marker "slips away" on the navball. Please believe that I get those two docking ports on top of each other really close...many times already. So what is the (obvious??) mistake I must be making all the time, as it should be the prograde target marker showing up? Maybe it helps for the solution to note that upon contact, I get a distance measurement of 9.something meters. (where it says 11.5m in the pic). I guess it should go down to 0.0 meters? ((OMK, don't even bother reading, except you are having the same problem... just looking at the wiki-entryfor the docking ports, before building my first space station, would have saved me hours and hours. I simply attached the docking port the wrong way around to my vessel. (And two of those on the space station are wrong way around as well....) There is no "male/female" orientation...no...but there is one orientation it docks and one in which does not dock at all!! So easy to see in the Wiki, and so weird that in so many videos and so many "why is my docking not working"-threads in the forums...this is not mentioned. LOL and *sigh*...back to reconstruction. Sorry to bother...))) Hey there, after watching about an hour or so of different docking tutorial videos, I am trying it myself. Didn't work. Then I read forum entries like this for another hour or two, and used all the information on my next trials...still don't get it to work. - Space station is oriented and stabilised by SAS - vessel is using SAS and RCS, the docking port on the space station is set as target. The docking port on the vessel is set to "control from here". - I used up 460 (!) units of monopropellant "rubbing, pushing and rotating" the docking ports (The big Sr. ones...I thought bigger ones makes it easier...) against each other. From all the tips and tricks a read and viewed, I tried: - removing the only mod I am using (KER), didn't work with or without - moved the vessel away about 50+ meters and back in (to "reset" the ports), didn't help - all 4 different iterations of SAS on/off on the combination of both ships - saving/reloading and trying again - different port-orientations. The "space station" has 5 docking ports available, and due to the construction some of them have different sides of the docking ports facing outwards. There is some design on the middle of the docking ports, with a small "+" on the middle in one orientation, and no "+" if it was installed "flipped" over. Although I read that there is supposed to be no "male/female" sides of docking ports? - etc etc The thing I am wondering about most is: Even when very closely together, I cannot see any movement which looks like there is any magnet action going on. In videos I can clearly see how the magnetic forces pull stuff around...in my case the only movements are from RCS and from the two ships pushing each other on contact. I am running out of ideas here. This pic is not even one of the best alignements, but shouldn't this be close enough?: Hmmm, just having a thought: If my pilot (there is one on the space station) and my probe core (on the vessel) are not experienced enough to have the target nodes show up in SAS...can I even dock with them? Or do I need more experienced pilot and a better probe? Kaiptan is 2-star, probe is OKTO2.
  11. Ohhhkay....that's a lot to ingest, digest, and then try to get out haha. I'll give a few of those ideas a kerbal try! About Youtube...after watching tons of Scoot Manley...i just discovered Stratzenblitz yesterday evening...OMG Thx for your kinput!
  12. Well, I saw comments above about the stock career mode not being balanced.... I have not yet finished my tech tree completely, but only some stuff in the last two tiers left. (Stock career mode on normal difficutly....my first game in this game...started off directly with career mode). And after never being farther than Mun and Minmus, I started getting those "5 tourists to minmus and mun" contracts as well as "Sentinel" contracts. Yesterday and today combined I did 2x 5-Tourists, landing on both Minmus and Mun. As well as 2 Sentinel contracts...both with the same probe. Just went up from 3 million to 1,3 billion in funds with those contracts. So...what would you do with 1,3 billions of funds? Ideas please, think big!
  13. On my way to complete the tech tree Well....and learned to pull in solar panels before EVAing, destroyed one set of them due to bad EVA-backpack skills
  14. Hey @CatastrophicFailure , thx a lot! Was wondering about that pics are in the post now
  15. Managed to get my first ever 3-Satellite relay network around the mun up, with this beauty: Really, happy....took me about 2,5 hours of fiddling nodes phewww And combined with my other relay antennas around, from previous career contracts...my Kerbal System seems quite covered... I did not take too much time to make them a perfect 120 degrees setup. I think with a lot of extra-distance from mun, to make sure 'they can see each other', as long as their orbits match well enough...this does just fine. And there is actually another one from a previous contract almost 90 degrees declined from the three new ones, making it almost a diamond shape (well....at times...). Happy with myself for this day
  16. Thx, well this just opens up a whole new part of the game to me. Up to now I brought back every bit of science to kerbin and landed it, all with manned (erm....kerballed?) missions. Thus completely ignoring the ComNet. Now, another Scott Manley Video later, I'll have a lot to learn and to do, to figure out how to set up my first relay network... Thx for your tip...lots of work ahead!
  17. Hey there, this is my first post in this forum as I have just about 20 or so RL hours in this game. But I am hooked I wanted to boast about me doing two satellite missions (one around Kerbin and one around Mun) with my very first satellite....as I realized it was overpowered as hell when I got it into it's designated orbit around Kerbin (Also it has a lot of useless science stuff on it as I did those science points with rockets before already). So I was very happy thinking I can get to the other mission to place it around Mun....and when it looked really good and spot on on the yellow "go-to-orbit"...I realized it was going the wrong way around. Obviously the remaining dv is not going to be enough to fix that grrrrrrrrrr But as I spend maybe the same amount of time i've been playing on reading your guys helpful posts and watching youtube tutorials etc.... I want to thank you all while thinking about what to do now with that satellite riding "on the wrong lane"...?? Cheers to all, this is a heck of a game!
