Now for the asteroid grabbing: Grabbing numer one: I've seem to have gotten some help from the Kraken on this one. After timewarping it suddenly appeared to have been moved into a stable orbit all by itself. I'm not one to question the Kraken. So yay! [img]http://i.imgur.com/mdMihN5.png[/img] Right after grabbing the asteroids my computer just died on me. I lost all notes about which screenshot is what. I've tried to sort them as good as I can, but that proved hard. There was a lot of quicksaving and loading and I'm not sure which is which of the grabs. :( Therefore I've just put these in different albums without titles and let them speak for themselves. I've never actually been to Dres. I know, I know. I'm part of the problem. But I seek to redeem myself. I'll bring Dres some small friends to keep her company forever (or untill an update breaks the my save). Six friends actually. I aim to put six asteroids in low orbit around her. As I write this I've launched all six transfer crafts, six asteroid grabbers, grabbed them, put them in a 200 by 200km orbit and sent them on their way towards Dres. Mods used are Kerbal Alarm Clock and Kerbal Engineer Redux. I've also got Chatterer installed, but that really doesn't matter. Let me present: KSS B.U.F.R. This name is an homage to the B-52 which is known to their pilots as Big Ugly Fat F**ker. I also couldn't remember how much Delta-V I needed to get to Dres, and frankly I didn't care to look it up so I just gave it alot and figured it would be enough. I've named them KSS A.R.S.E. (AKA Asteroid retriever, single engine). The name is partly because descriptive of the role and partly because it looks kind of like a buttplug. At the last minute I decided to add two retro engines to make it easier to rendevouz with the asteroids. The name is therefore kind of wrong, but it was such a good name. Time compression makes it unstable for some reason, so I've gotta sit through each one in real time. Thankfully I've got YouTube on the other monitor. That's actually the good thing about having to use my fiancé's computer. I've only got one monitor on my own computer.

Mission status: In the process of doing transfer burn number 4 of 6 atm. Edit: Ref. mods: I'm using Kerbal Engineer Redux and Kerbal Alarm Clock. (I've also got Chatterer installed, but that doesn't really matter.) I feel these should definitely be allowed. I'm kind of on the fence about MechJeb. The autopilot function and node planner makes the game be all about sitting back and watching. KER and KAC only gives you information and makes it easier to remember WHEN to burn. Also: Having Kerbal Alarm Clock open timestamps every screenshot making it easy to verify that there is no cheating going on. Kerbal Engineer Redux gives you information about Ap and Pe at a glance also making things easy to verify. Splitting the challange into modded vs. non-moded would also be an acceptable option.

I think it's the wiring in this apartement that hates Dres. It's not very stable. I've told my landlord, but he's slow fixing it. I've got a good news/bad news situation. Bad news: My graphics card is dead and so is my SSD. Good news: I had backed up my save file. Only lost a few hours of gaming. Bad news: My screenshot folder was on the SSD. Good news: I was in the process of moving and sorting them and it seems MOST of them are saved. I only seem to have lost pictures of ONE out of twelve launches. The rest is fine along with astroid captures. Bad news: I had a text document with notes about which screenshot corresponded to which craft/launch on the SSD so I have to recreate that from memory. It might be a little off. Good news: My fiancé's computer still works so I might be able to use that one. Bad news: She's a photographer and needs it to work on her pictures a lot, so I won't be able to play as much.

My project will have to be put on hold due to Rapid Unplanned Death of my computer. Scanners indicate no signs of life.

I made a prototype Dres megalander. Still needs a launch vehicle, but it's comming along nicely.

...?! I seem to have gotten some HELP from the Kraken! I was fastforwarding waiting for an astroid to enter Kerbin SOI. When I came out of timewarp it was suddenly in a stable orbit. I hope I don't get disqualified by not reverting. I had forgot to quicksave before timewarping. I'm claiming force majeure on this one. Still gotta bring it down to a lower orbit so it's not like I'm skipping out on some work.

Man, I wish I had MechJeb right now. It would be so much easier. I guess since it's going well, I might as well reveal my plan. I'm going to put six asteroids in orbit around Dres. That way Dres will never be lonely again. 12 launches have been done and documented. Six ships to pluck the asteroids and six that will do the transfer. So far I have captured two asteroids in Kerbin orbit. Four more to go. Edit: I might do a "bonus" mission to. Haven't decided yet.

My plan involves stupendous amounts of coffe, a lot of swearing, some tears, throwing the mouse at the wall, smashing my keyboard to pieces, giving up and finally starting anew.
