Ian - I found that uninstalling 1.7 and reinstalling 1.6.1 fixed the problem and restored a lot of work that I had lost when I upgraded. I play exclusively in the sandbox mode and I have quite a few ckan mods. I now have ScanSats with J2X antennas in polar orbits around every body in the system. My CommNet links are now bright and light up the whole system. Very robust. But the experience kind of makes me want to stick with 1.6.1 forever and forget about any future upgrades. I lost entire fleets of ships because the mods I used to build them weren't compatible with 1.7. It was a lot of work to rebuild. Are upgrades always like this?

KAS missing parts?
Joe Calton replied to Joe Calton's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Tonka - I'm sorry. I'm new to KSP. KIS, KAS and this forum. I don't intuitively know where to go for what information. I just want to build cool spaceships on my computer and do fun stuff. Does the KAS still work in 1.6 or not? Looking for answers, not condescension. Any actual help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -
I have KIS and KAS installed via CKAN. I also reverted back to 1.6 because I lost too many ships and parts in 1.7 I've been trying to learn KAS and it's driving me nuts. I've watched probably half a dozen tutorials. They all reference things like the critical connection point attachment and they talk about electromagnets, and grappling hooks and anchors. I don't have any of that stuff! I have some winches, a have 3 telescoping struts that I can'e seem to attach anything to. I have some ground pylon bases. But none of the critical pieces that make it all work. I suspect I'm just stupid. But in the VAB I've looked under KAS, Utilities, Structural, EVA and I'm just seeing those parts! What am I doing wrong?

So, I've been getting this warning since upgrading to 1.7 Room to Maneuver: B9PartSwitch - Serious Warning B9PartSwitch has encountered a serious warning. The game will continue to run but this should be fixed ASAP. Initialization errors on ModuleB9PartSwitch (moduleID='endcapSwitch') on part sspx-expandable-centerfuge -375-2 subtype 'BlackHandles' No transforms named 'Ladders' found Please see KSP's log for additional details. I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled KSP 1.7. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the "Stockalike Station Parts Expansion Redux", which is the only mod I can think of that has an expandable centerfuge and handrails, but that didn't work. I don't know if this issue is the culprit or not, but KSP has also started "ghosting" me. Meaning, after switching back and forth between Space Center sites a couple of times, none of the buttons work anymore. I can't navigate out of wherever I am. Have to exit to Windows and ungracefully close the KSP window. This is severely cramping my style and harshing my mellow. Help?

WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER! Removing Remote Tech mostly fixed the problem! By "mostly" I mean my planetary probes are now able to complete their resource scans and transmit data. Which is the most important part because now I know where to land my mining plants and rovers. Also by "mostly" I mean I still don't see the green connectivity lines, but that's OK, I'll figure it out. At least now I know where to land my surface bases. Thanks!!!

I'm not sure what my Comm settings are. Where would I see that? When I go into Settings, the only Comm related option I see is the brightness of the CommNet lines, which I set at 100% just to make sure I wasn't missing them. The only mods I have I got through Ckan because I don't trust myself to add things manually. According to Ckan, I have: Alcubierre Ward Drive Astrogator B9 Part Switch (I get an incompatibility warning about this since upgrading to 1.7) Better Burn Time Chatterer Click Through Blocker Commnet Visualization (I added this to see if it would fix the problem...it didn't) Community Category Kit Community Resource Pack Community Tech Tree Deep Sky Core Diazo's Landing Height Display Dynamic Battery Storage Engine Lighting Relit Extraplanetary Launchpads HyperEdit Impossible Innovations JX2Antenna Kerbal Engineer Redux Kerbal Inventory System (also get a compatibility warning on this) Kerbal Joint Reinforcement Continued KerbalX Mod Kethane Mining Kerbal Reusability Expansion KXAPI MechJeb2 MechJeb and Engineer for all Module Manager Near Future Electrical Core Near Future IVA Props Near Future Launch Vehicles Near Future Propulsion Near Future Solar Near Future Solar Core Near Future Spacecraft Near Future Spacecraft - LFO engines Patch Manager Physics Range Extender RasterPropMonitor Core Remote Tech SCANsat Stockalike Station Parts Redux Targetron Tweak Scale - Rescale Everything

I have KSP 1.7 with some mods, all from CKAN. I have large probes in polar orbits around every stock planet except Jool. Each probe is identical, bristling with scanners and docking ports. At the rear of each one is a ginormous JX2 antenna pointing away from the planet. Back I have several relay satellites that I call "Comm Blossoms". Each one has a guidance computer, an RCS system, a bunch of RTGs and rechargeable batteries. Each relay has 2 JX2s, one on each end, and the middle is ringed with 4 JW1s. I have 3 in geosynch (kerbosynch?) orbit 120 degrees apart. I have another Comm Blossom in a polar orbit that extends as far out as Minmas. Yet, I have no CommNet. In the Tracking Station I can see all of the lines connecting my probes, relays and stations, but none of those lines are green and there is no CommNet interface. My probes cannot conduct planetary resource scand because there is no CommNet or KerbalNet. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Every YouTube tutorial I've watched tells me I should have a very robust CooNet, but I don't. Help?

I bought it on kerbalspaceprogram.com When I log onto my account, it shows the purchase back in Feb and gives me the option of re-downloading the original 1.6 install, but no mention whatsoever of the 1.7 update.

Before I get into this, 2 points... 1. I absolutely LOVE KSP! I've only had it since February (a gift from a friend) and I've already spent a huge chunk of my newly retired life playing in the sandbox, building and launching cool stuff! I'll spend the rest of my life (I'm 63) building my space faring civilization. Maybe I'll model it after Iain M Banks "Culture". That would be cool. 2. I'm an idiot. I'm sure the answer to my question is incredibly obvious and I'm just too stupid to figure it out. So there's that. OK. One of my challenges, even with MechJeb 2 and autopilots (not ashamed or embarrassed) is getting my ScanSat in a polar orbit around the Mun. I keep crashing (see point 2 above). So I'm really, REALLY anxious to try out the 1.7 Room to Maneuver update! When I fire up KSO, it tells me that there is a new version, but the Update button is grayed out, and I can't find a link ANYWHERE on kerbalspace.com, the KSP forum, ckan, the KSP FB group or anywhere else. I really want the Update, but I can't find it! I was a Systems Analyst for over 30 years and worked on TONS of system migrations and updates. If you are going to announce a major upgrade to your system, shouldn't "Job 1" be to making it super easy for users to get the upgrade? Again, I'm probably just stupid. Feel free to flametroll me (after you give me the link). I can take it.

Newbie Trouble Adding MechJeb
Joe Calton replied to Joe Calton's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I figured it out. ckan is definitely the way to go. At this point I may even have too many mods. LOL! Takes forever to load and exit. But that's OK! I love KSP so much! I have a fleet of spacecraft designs, a store of subassemblies and a couple of space stations in orbit. But I really need the 1.7 upgrade and CANNOT FIND A LINK TO INSTALL! Creating a new post about that. As before, I'm probably just an idiot.
