  1. That "crack" was basically an optical illusion; nothing to worry about I think. Main issue we've heard of now is Engine 3's lack of hydrogen bleed.
  2. What's the timestamp on his stream? For the "Engine 3 was fixed" part.
  3. I think the problem is that Engine 3 isn't in a hydrogen bleed like the other engines are intentionally doing. I am probably wrong though.
  4. I don't think so. Mind citing a source? I've been following NASA TV's stream with operational commentary and I didn't hear anything about that.
  5. Have you checked whether the image is actually crisper on the other channels? Might appear 1080p, but actual 1080p may only apply to the graphical elements, while the actual footage of SLS is still 720p.
  6. After exploring the entire local group, turns out the sandwich is on top of one of the tracking station dishes. Jeb takes a bite out of the sandwich. It turns out it expired by about 5 days, and goes to buy a new one. Unfortunately, after having journeyed to so many solar systems, no sandwich can satiate the hunger he feels to explore more of it.
  7. Dunno. It's a cool idea, but if they're going to go that far, they should've given us probe cores for Voyager, Juno, etc.
  8. If such lore was incorporated into the game, then the end-credit scene after exploring every celestial body is finding the sandwich stuck on top of one of the tracking station dishes, back at Kerbin.
  9. Making two threads is a bit spammy, I'm not sure how the mods would see it. Putting it into KSP 2 means that lore about interstellar travel can be discussed alongside KSP 1 lore, so that's probably more reliable. I'll make the post sometime later.
  10. What would be the most suitable forum section for a post like this though? Sure, it came about because we're talking about KSP 2, but it isn't exclusively KSP 2 related.
  11. You want to know what the reason is for the Kerbals going interstellar? Here's my non-canon explanation: Jeb has lost his sandwich. It's not on the Mun, it's not on Minmus. Not on Eve, Moho, Duna, Jool, Eeloo. The sandwich is absolutely nowhere to be found, almost as though the Kraken had swallowed it up. Then one bright Kerbal suggests something; what if the sandwich left the Kerbolar system? And thus Kerbalkind starts exploring other solar systems, seeking Jeb's lost sandwich. Fin. Nothing grandiose or important, just finding a missing sandwich. The most Kerbal reason you could possibly imagine. This isn't canon though, so please make your own Kerbal-like suggestions of why Kerbals are going to other solar systems.
  12. That Orion drive is just beautiful. Also, I'm seeing some people complaining about a lack of lore, but that description literally creates a huge amount of lore; It's canon that Kerbals discovered nuclear fission by trying to make a microwave. For humans, this is the other way around. Imagine what this means for everything else they've made. If you don't mind, I'm going to make up some backstory as to how Kerbals decided to launch rockets; The text in the spoiler above isn't canon, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Some people might prefer that Kerbals had war and geo-politics. Others might want to talk about alien civilisations and the origins of Kerbality. I would disagree with both of these things, and those people might disagree with my backstory. Point is, let people make up their own KSP lore. It's more fun that way.
  13. Here's some ideas to add onto yours;. Achievements involving landing a spacecraft within 7 minutes of entering the atmosphere: Seven Minutes of Discomfort - Land on Duna within 7 minutes of entering the atmosphere. Seven Minutes of Fear - Land on Eve with 7 minutes of entering the atmosphere. Seven Minutes of Terror - Land on Ovin within 7 minutes of entering the atmosphere. Achievements involving putting heavy payloads into LKO: Hercules - Put a +100t payload into LKO in one launch. Ares - Put a +500t payload into LKO in one launch. Zeus - Put a +1000t payload into LKO in one launch. Some 'grand tour' fly-by achievements based on limited DV: Hitchhiker - Use a spacecraft with less than 1000 m/s DV to fly by all of Kerbol's planets and moons. Explorer - Use a spacecraft with less than 500 m/s DV to fly by all of Kerbol's planets and moons. Voyager - Use a spacecraft with less than 250 m/s DV to fly by all of Kerbol's planets and moons. If anything here seems a bit extreme or not hard enough, then updates to KSP 2 would bring in harder achievements so players push the limits of the game as hard as possible. Of course, they could use cheats, but hopefully the achievements have a check against that.
  14. Fair enough. Solar sails are for light-weight, unmanned spacecraft. Unless laser stations are involved to push the probe to a sizable portion of the speed of light for an interstellar probe.
  15. So we come full circle. Make a post about electromagnetic radiation pressure that's useless, only to suggest a different type of radiation pressure that works. Could solar sails be partial? (I.e., Could a conventional chemical spacecraft (let's say the Apollo CSM) utilise solar sails as well, regardless of how heavy?)
  16. Well, sorry for making a post that bombed. I was going to ask about solar pressure affecting a spacecraft's trajectory, but I suspected it would be more of the same; not enough influence to be significant.
  17. Alright, I'll rework my entire post into something completely different; micro-thrust engines. Engines with less than 2 kN, allowing for extremely precise maneuvers
  18. It gets to a point where it can be difficult to tell them apart if you have too many colours. I'm pretty sure torchships are antimatter, which was listed in my original colours. But, I'll give it a go nonetheless: RED (#ff0000) Kerosene / Methane ORANGE (#ff9900) Oxidiser / Fluorine YELLOW (#ffcc00) Electricity GREEN (#66cc00) Uranium / Plutonium / Tritium CYAN (#66cccc) Electric Propellant (e.g., Xenon) BLUE (#6699ff) Hydrogen / Deuterium DARK BLUE (#3300cc) Helium-3 MAGENTA (#ff66ff) Metallic Hydrogen DARK MAGENTA (#9900cc) Antimatter BROWN (#cc6600) Ore Added ore and tritium, hopefully I'm covering all bases with this one. Also I found out how much I hate trying to make tables here; can't add or remove rows, gotta make a fresh new table if I want more rows.
  19. Just makes more sense from a user experience perspective. I mean, why make Xenon green instead of the colour of its exhaust material? Best to make the colours have useful associations with what they're related to instead of making them arbitrary. If you'd like a standard referred to, then I'm referring to the standard of what colours would be most applicable. These aren't hard and fast, since magenta could also be MPDs, green could also be methane, and yellow could be electricity.
  20. Looks really good. Just needs to make sure it's ready for the Artemis I launch though, because that's coming up real soon.
  21. Better colour choices: RED - Kerosene YELLOW - Oxidiser DARK BLUE - LH2 CYAN BLUE - Xenon GREEN - Nuclear fuel (if antimatter doesn't exist, then make this fission fuel) MAGENTA - Antimatter (if antimatter doesn't exist, then make this fusion fuel)
  22. I don't think KSP 2 has any reason to remove any parts... except for maybe the MTM stage and MPO probe.
