cant load the game at all! pls help
krblman replied to mrgoose14's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I can't help but notice this is in the modded installs sub forum. Could you kindly list all mods installed? Most mods are made for older versions of the game (they're made for 1.9 or similar versions since they generally seem to work on 1.11) for backwards compatibility. One of these might have issues with forwards compatibility. -
Random Mod Question (Heat Shields)

I got this under control. Thanks for moving it to this subforum, although I found this forum from the moved thing in the KSP discussion -
Random Mod Question (Heat Shields)
krblman replied to MacGregor's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Oh. Try looking in your recycle bin. Another last-case scenario if that foesnt work is to try to load the craft and write down what it says is missing. Then go into the Squad gamedata files, copy the 1.25 meter heat shield, put it in Squad, and name it whatever you like. I'll call it "PatchShield". Then in the cfg file, change the ID or name or whatever it says, to the value you wrote down. You should be able to load the ship and then swap the heatshields. Erase the description of the new heatshield entirely (especially the autoloc things) and replace it with "DONOR PART, DO NOT USE" or another placeholder text. After the spaceship is modified, save it, delete the patch shield (or use it more) and restart your game. I've simplified the parts and done them for you apart from modifying the name in the CFG file in a file you can download here. The file is hosted by discord (check the link if cautious) and is in a ZIP format, so no need to worry. -
Yes. This is true. You could save around 2km/s getting home from Eve by doing this, but it might be difficult to put into an SSTO, especially without the propulsion turning into kerbal singed propellers (KSP).
-
Eve SSTOs are nearly impossible and need over 10km/s of maximum Delta V in a vacuum (with mining gear!) to perform a successful roundtrip to Eve. With that aside, you could use heat shield wings as they have no drag (look to stratzenblitz or whatever hes called) and try to put a nose cone, parachute, or intake on every non-engine part.

I agree

Getting to Moho, going to Eeloo, going to Eve, going to Jool, going to Duna, going to Dres, then going back to kerbin. It's likely not THAT hard to do but it's probably extremely difficult in this order. You should go from Eeloo to Moho to Eve, Duna, Dres, Jool, and THEN back home. But screw that, let's go one step further of hard. Do this for every asteroid and land on the asteroid. It's physically impossible now since asteroids constantly spawn/despawn.

Career mode. The third, newest gamemode in KSP. What's its problem. Like, what I'm asking is why it's so hard compared to science mode. What's the point of it? Is it like Dres in gamemode form?
-
I don't know why. What if you used normal chutes?
-
I'm jealous of your son, I'm 13 and I still don't have friends.

I joined KSP WIKI before I joined these forums. However one of the captcha questions was the following: "How hard is ~~~~ ~~~~ anyway?" (it wasnt the exact amount of underscores) I never got this one right. I only joined when it finally asked me what the animal in the Squad logo is. So I've a question. Why does this captcha exist? It's almost impossible.

Random Mod Question (Heat Shields)
krblman replied to MacGregor's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
No idea what mod it comes from. However, in KSP if a part is missing, you can load the ship anyway but it'll be missing the part. From there you can add the heatshield yourself. -
I want to hear your best achievement during KSP. I'll go first. One day, about 2 years after i went to The Mun the first time, and crashed and spent the rest of the day crying, I was just sending a spaceship to high space above kerbin. If you drew a line between my target apoapsis, Kerbin, and Mun, it was about a 45 degree angle. So after burning my stage to get to space high above Kerbin, I did my science and it said "High above the mun:, I was quite confused until I timewarped and unintentionally landed on the Mun perfectly, and in the process learned the Clock method of getting to the mun.
-
The first time I successfully went to the Mun. It took me hours and hours to get the maneuver right since i didnt know how to quicksave or use targets (and i used the Orbital method, not the Clock method so it was ideal to have it a target) and i wouldnt learn about that until several months down the line. Upon getting to the mun, I landed but I landed slightly too fast and the command module was destroyed. I spent the rest of the day crying. (I was still a little one, probably around 9)

Getting home from the red planet

The lander does not have a heat shield. However, it has an escape pod (command module, parachutes, and science container) with a heat shield. -
Getting home from the red planet

How much delta v -
I can go to Duna and land with my eyes closed. At this point I've gotten duna missions down to a science, and I can land on duna with around a 30 degree margin of error from a transfer window. But, there's one thing duna-wise I cannot do. How do I get home from duna? I have no idea how to rendezvous (and even if i did, the ship doesn't have docking ports). The lander has around 2.5km/s of Delta V when it lands on the Duna. I've tried sending a kerbal home from Duna but he just got flung around the sun for all eternity. Perhaps the problem is like Eve - It's difficult for me to get to Eve, hence why I only have 1 satelite around Eve and 1 kerbal on eve whereas I have 3 on Duna, and 5 satelites. Either way, is it meant to be easy or something

Your channel is good, but I see why it doesn't have many subs, and a very simple fix. Your videos are beyond laggy! If KSP itself is that laggy, you should turn down the graphics as much as possible.

Yeah, Gilly is FAR more underrated than Pol. It's probably one of the top 5 destinations in KSP.
-
What's the point of Dres? It's confusing as heck - for the first 7 years I've played KSP I thought Jool was supposed to be saturn because of it, and I've played since 0.15. My Laythe/Eeloo rocket can't get to dres either because of its weird orbit. And bottom line, its not even that interesting. Whats the point of it? Are you just supposed to send a planet buster to Dres and get rid of it?
-
I wouldn't say so. Apart from Dres, Pol just seems like a boring rock. I don't even know why Dres exists. Anyway, I'd say Gilly is less interesting than Pol but then again Gilly has virtually no gravity so its interesting being able to land like 50 meters above the surface, do a bunch of science, and fly back up to your ship which is now 49 meters above.

I'm a "Kraken Hunter". So I've a question. What version of the space program loaded up with kerbals (aka ksp) has the most glitches? I will find another kraken! I've already found 2, I can find more!
