So we have MK0.5 ION engines ("Dawn"). But what if we had a slightly bigger ion engine for MK1 rockets? And at that, what if we have a MK0.5 nuclear motor? Another thing - Since Career Mode is a thing, what if we also had Argon-powered ion drives that are lighter and cheaper but less powerful and last longer? And also, there's something called an "EM Drive". It's slower than an Ion drive and works purely on electricity. However, it only works because of magnetic fields. Nonetheless, it'd be really cool to have an EM drive, and it'd be even cooler if it got stronger the closer you are to massive bodies - Kerbol should have around 0.1 kerbins of force just to make it fair, but for example the EM drive is 10x faster in Jool's vicinity due to Jool being the size of earth, and KSP is at 0.1x scale, so Kerbin is 1/10 of Jool's size.

Severe memory leaks
krblman replied to krblman's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
I don't use Windows (it hates my wifi card), does Linux do it too? I wasn't aware that 65c was a tame temperature as this computer is a 10 year-old upgraded PC, and the CPU is one of the 4 parts that weren't upgraded. Thank you. -
I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this so if it's not, can you please move it there? Anyway, here's a bug report. Whenever I start KSP, the CPU runs at around 45c and only around 1GB ram usage. But just 3 hours in it's running at 65c and a whopping 8GB of ram is being used. Since I don't use an amd i dont have to replace my CPU but I'm just wondering if it's possible to fix this. The GPU gradually ramps up from 45c-65c aswell. Also yes I know my processor seems to run too hot but it's an intel so don't worry, it's made to get hot so I'm alright, but I'm still uncomfortable with these temperatures.

Should I create a KSP youtube channel? If so, how should I go about doing it?

So in my mod I'm trying to make a new Ion engine for MK1-size crafts. It's meant to be a retexture of the LV-45 engine, however, whenever I go into GIMP, colorize the textures, and load KSP, it's solid gray. If I replace the textures with the original then nothing happens, it's just a LV-45 looking ion engine. This is really irritating me. How do I stop this? I use Linux so GIMP is the only image editor I can use.

No matter what I do the part ends up gray. I use GIMP, and I'm using the DDS format, but I also tried PNG.

How exactly does one create a mod for Kerbal? I just wanna add some command pods, fueltanks, and engines. That's all I need to know, I can figure out the rest. And if I have to use blender, can you tell me how to timewarp 30915 years into the future where AI is advanced enough that you can become a superhuman and learn to actually use blender? Jokes aside I can use blender to some extent, it's just very hard.

Both times I have sent Jebediah to Minmus, he has eaten a surface sample and has confirmed "it is not dessert" and one time he said it was crystaline. I'm assuming it's made of glass. Why does Jebediah keep eating glass? What-

Un-necessary kerbin orbit before space travel?
krblman replied to krblman's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I do "park" when I go to duna (atleast not when i wanna go to ike) and set my periaps around 30km to save a lot of fuel, since Duna's atmosphere goes up to 50km its gonna aerobrake -
Un-necessary kerbin orbit before space travel?
krblman replied to krblman's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I personally don't do parking orbits, but the first stage of me getting home from anywhere (minmus, duna, etc) is usually at a periapsis of 600km and then i aerobrake -
In a lot of videos I see on YouTube of people going to other celestial bodies in KSP (usually the mun, but sometimes I watch videos about Duna) they orbit Kerbin before going any further. Is there any advantage to this? I don't do it personally because it looks like a waste of fuel - and in my science mode save there's no room to waste fuel. I only have around 7km/s of Delta V not including the lander which itself have around 2km/s of Delta V to get home.

Smashed Jebediah Kerman into the surface of Duna by accident and forgot to quicksave

Woah cool! Anyway yeah, now that I think about it, Kraken Hunting is basically just testing the game. So the two symptoms I mentioned are all that'll happen. Thanks! To all moderators out there, can this thread be closed?

Still not sure of the drawbacks, but I just discovered a new kraken. It's called the Pillow kraken. Basically, I named a kerbal a blank name and made his "trait" pillow instead of pilot (please don't ask why) and now every kerbal is him and whenever you try to get more kerbals only he appears, and he can duplicate when you try to remove him from a seat. After just 3 missions, he will replace every single real kerbal.

I'm a pretty avid gamer, and I play Kerbal Space Program as my main game. Back when I was 10, I used to play pokemon red a lot. And I didn't like the plot itself all that much but I loved glitches. And ever since I've been obsessed with glitches. So now I wanna know: What are the drawbacks of Kraken Hunting? I've encountered an undiscovered kraken before (the censored kraken) and documented it, and it corrupted my game (though i have confirmed its not caused by corruption) so I know that can happen, as well as saves becoming infested, but this seems really fun. Are there any other drawbacks?

That last bit is cool. However, I have tried to build an SSTO in Sandbox mode for testing 3 times. SSTOs definitely seem difficult to create. The furthest one got an apoapsis around Kerbin of 154km and was only sub-orbital, the orbit only went half way around kerbin before crashing.
-
I like playing with space planes, but what is the actual goal with them? I keep sailing to other continents on Kerbin but I wonder, are we supposed to go to space with them? Strap rockets to them and launch the rockets high up?
-
That's extremely relatable. I agree!

So I'm new to these forums. I have played KSP since around 2014. But I was wondering something. I used to have a server on a block game that I played with my friends all the time, but on May 2nd the server had to shut down, so I didn't have any more friends. But then I re-discovered KSP in my steam library. I clicked Play on it to relive some memories. And now I'm hooked again. So I wanna know. This is a singleplayer game. Why is it the most enjoyable game I have played in so long? What is happening with this game?
