  1. If there is no other solutions than that, which I would rather hear from Squad, then I'll rest my case. But I can hardly imagine that if Squad looked into this there wouldn't be some way to enlarge the memory even by a little, say 400 mb.
  2. Nvidia ASUS GTX 680 Intel Core i7 3770K 16GB DDR3 Windows 7 64 bit OCZ Vertex 4 VTR1-25SAT3-256G 550/530 Trust me, its not my end...
  3. I'm not asking for 64 bit, I know that comes when it comes. I'm asking, if possible, for a temporary solution right now so you can use more than 1 part pack for instance.
  4. Yeah that's great... But I don't use Linux, and I'm pretty sure the majority of KSP players don't either.
  5. Anybody using mods might know what I'm talking about. Right now my Gamedata folder is 1.34 gb. Apperantly KSP can handle up to 2gb of memory but I guess that isn't true when it crashes at only 1.3 gb. I was wondering if there isn't a temporary solution for this problem because KSP is so much more awesome with mods. I know that when Unity some time in the future (hopefully) switches to 64 bit this problem will be resolved. But with the ever expanding list of mods to choose from isn't there some temporary solution squad can implement to crank up the memory?
  6. The least he could've done is donate his work to the community so other people can pick it up.
  7. Yeah.... Well maybe we'll someday get a flightplan, but again. I think it would be possible for Squad to implement a feature that balances the center of mass, lift and thrust into SAS. That would solve a lot of problems.
  8. Hey Sambo, Yeah, I'm now trying a design which basically straps two huge liquid boosters on either side of the shuttle. That way its a lot more symmetric. But I'll give your design a shot too .
  9. Anything non scientific or related to war. If they at one point decide to add a lasergun to sample rocks with, thats fine. But KSP should always be about exploration and science.
  10. I was trying to built myself a shuttle the other day with a mix of B9 and KW rocketry parts. But it didn't really work out because of the shift in how the fuel was distributed. In order to lift of sort of balanced I put a big rocketengine under the fuel tank, sort of Buran style. That same fueltank I was also using to drain fuel from for the shuttle engines. However with shift in balance, a big rocketmoter firing, in tandem with two big solid boosters, made that after about 100 meters of flight the tank was so light, and the shuttle still so heavy full of fuel, that it just filpped over. I'd like for squad to implement a way for me to make a simple flight plan which lets me control the thrust of multiple rocket engines at the same time. Or better still, make that the SAS doesn't only control the flightsurfaces and reactiontwheels, but also distributes the thrurst in such a manner that the center of lift, gravity and thrust are alligned at all times.
  11. This all looks very promesing!! I've been looking for a proper Shuttle to ferry cargo and kerbals back and forth to my space station. Any ETA?
  12. Oh my god I LOVE IT!!! Its so Kerbal, yet so NASA. This is the kind of art direction I wish Squad would take...
  13. Hmm, again I have to disagree. The actors just really convincingly potrayed a group of astronauts on a mission in my opinion. I thought there was a descent balance between drama, and profesionalism. Yes the characters don't have lot of background but they're not a bunch of stereotyped space cowboys. If someone were to drift away from ISS there would be probably a week of quiet mourning and then on with the mission. Because that is what these people a trained to do. The thing is that if felt in place. See, a movie like Armageddon, which I also love, if someone dies there it seems more fitting for people to lose their **** for about a minute and then forget about it because its part of the pacing and hollywood action. But this film, like you said, is set up more like a documentary. Which is how I believe you should watch it. Again you know I don't expect everybody to like this sort of film but I really do. Because it stays in my head for so long, it allows me to project a lot of things without being bothered by to many scientific defects and hollywood action. Not that there's anything wrong with that though.
  14. Well maybe we just have diffrent opinions then because I like the fact that there is a lot room for imagination. Instead of giving you a hollywood style green men who come from a mothership, one could ask if this is a really intellegent creature that knew what was going on the entire time. That knew that another species had landed on their planet, that knew that they couldn't be discovered. Or is is just a killer which is thirsty for blood. If you choose for one or the other you can get conflict and plotholes, instead its mysterious and creepy. And that's exactly how an encounter should be.
  15. Well that's the thing I actually enjoyed the most. See they don't really reveal anything untill the very end, and when they do its still, in my opinion at least, somewhat grounded in reality. What I don't like however if is a realistic space movie confronts you with a sunburned zombie in the third act without ever explaining why...
  16. In all the hype surrounding the movie Gravity, which on a personal note I think is being overhyped, I think a lot of people are missing this: I've seen it and holy -mushrooms-!! I thought is was, really, really, really good. The trailer might not suggest it but the actors are doing a stellar job of portraying the reality of deep space travel. And its just brilliantly filmed and executed on a high level of realism. Although this doesn't avoid some little movie cliche's, but then again which movie does, its just a great spacefilm. I liked it better then 2001 ans Sunshine. I would love to see a modder take some inspiration from this regarding the ship interiors and perhaps EVA activities etc. I would highly recommend it to any spacefreak, its a thrilling movie. Also, if you do wanna watch it, I would avoid watching any further trailers or featurettes besides this one because some tend to spoil a lot.
  17. Question, is this mod in preperation with the new .22 update? Because it seems to me like you are having a crack at the R&D portion of the game.
  18. I think mabye squad should try to implement a second solar system. I saw a documentary about alien life on Discovery the other day and it was about the possibility of life to emerge in solar system with completely diffrent chemical compositions. Then bacteria made out of metal. Now I'm not saying that I want alien life, but I'm thinking planets with atmosphere's of vaporized salt and oceans made of mercury. It could bring a whole new set of challenges with it.
  19. Never make assumptions, just because you want something doesn't mean its going to happen. The KSP dev's have more important matters on their heads first.
  20. The trouble with introducing proper seasons to Kerbin is that you need to tilt the planet, like you said. Right now its quite easy to get into e a nice straight stable horizontal orbit, in line with a lot of the other cellestial bodies like the Mun and some other planets. But if you tilt the planet, the equator moves to a position where that becomes a lot harder to do this. In fact if you want to get into an perfectly horizontal orbit around Earth (considering horizontal as the point where the suns rays hit the earth at 90 dagrees on the equator), there are only a couple of days a year where this is pobbile, in the spriing and in autumm. And I think that would sort of scare away a lot of people, this is still a game not a simulator and it shouldn't be to complex in my opinion.
  21. The problem I have with these sort of requests is how fun its gonna be if implemented in the game. It shouldn't be a tedious taske you're forced to do before launch. Sure it makes the game more realistic but KSP isn't a simulator. I do like the idea however of being able to plot out a journey much in the same way the manouvre nodes tell you what is going to happen with an increase/decrease of speed. Some sort of orbital map accesible via the Mission Control building would be neat.
  22. Here's a topographical map, thought I don't see any high plateau's near Kerbin City. However, eventhough it may seem logical to place it somwhere outside the city, which I'm agree with. You should also be able to take some creative freedom. http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/w/images/1/1a/Kerbin_ISA_Topo_0_21.jpg
  23. Hello fellow kerbonauts! I'm not much of a modeller or game dev for that matter, I hope I one day will be. I'm really excited for this project though, like where it is going, so many awsome additions ! But I was thinking, maybe it would be cool to have a telescope observatory a on the edge of town. Maybe on a little hill with a road leading up to it a and a guardpost at the entrance. http://www.astr.ua.edu/keel/telescopes/SARAnight.jpg

  25. Eventough you obviously have zero knowledge about gamedevelopment I still feel compelled to reply, so let me break it down for you: 1. KSP didn't start out after a group of CEO's and directors sat down and decided to make the 7th sequel, it began as the brainchild of one man who had very little recources. There wasn't a budget of 100 million and a big team of 400 artists, programmers and designers to start with. So the fact that KSP has become what it is in 2 years is rather remarkible instead of slow. 2. The amount of stuff in a game does not define how far it is in the development cycle. About 80% percent of the work goes into creating an engine, establishing a framework for gamemechanics, and fixing and tweaking all of this. KSP's framework is finished, the dev's have confirmed that themselves at last years Kerbalkon. All that remains now is adding all of the content and placing all of the gamemechanics. 3. KSP is a project with a large active community that (unlike you I assume) provides constant feedback and suggestions. All developers of a game like for instance, The Sims have to worry about, is that they have a trailer ready every 5 weeks or so, and that they publish a couple of patches every now and again. KSP evolves, it grows, and if you have to release a playable update very 2 months its just gonna take longer. So don't make these stupid claims, you're just impatient and not very passionate about this game. What sets KSP aside from other games is that demands your attention and envolvement to some degree. Which I really like because it doesn't make me feel like I'm another mindless consumer in the eyes of the people that make this. And its a damn shame that that's such a rere sight these days because I slowly feel like more and more gamers are becoming mindless consumers. Which in my respect isn't very fair towards the intellectual property we demand. You are after all a gamer because you want to do more than just sit back and watch right? Then don't behave like that's what you want but you still want to be treated like you're building the game yourself.
