As cheesy as the title implies, it's not very wrong. Uncertain as to how this was caused but I was escaping Kerbin's gravity well and plotted a course to Eve when I left the map view to see my flying over KSP center. I'm not sure what else I have dont above this other than what I have said.

UPDATE:
Tried thrusting to start course and soon realised this land wasn't just any graphical issue but rather a solid object. Vessel went as it would upon coming into contact with any other floating mass of land in space: Screenshot by Lightshot (prnt.sc)
