In version 0.1.2.0.22258, pressing 'm' in the VAB will occasionally open the map screen. To reproduce, use the tracking center to select and then control a vessel. It may be that the vessel must have a functioning control center, or it may be somewhat intermittent. Not sure yet. While controlling the vessel, press 'm' to open the map normally. With the map open, open the burger menu and select the VAB. While in the VAB, press 'm.' The map screen will open and display unusual behavior.
