When at a large distance from the ground, the terrain is lit up when it should not have sunlight. this causes a mismatch between the cloud shading and the planet shading.
After getting closer to the ground, the lighting returns to normal. this happens on many planets, but it most noticeable on Kerbin, and in craters on Minmus. I have more images to provide, but I can't seem to be able to attach more than one.
