I am not in the gaming industry, just normal software dev. And I don't know much about how it works in the gaming industry. But let's say I have a company A which is interested in a contract from B. I pitch the stuff and get the project. And afterwards I am like: "I have no idea how to do any of this, can I talk to the people who did this before?". That is so braindead mismanagement I am unable to comprehend this. Maybe for some weird reason this is normal in gaming but they should have clarified that before. And then I go like "Hey, we will be doing the stuff you wanted and much more, like multiplayer. We don't even want more money". And after all of that stuff hits the fan I am like "booo, they didn't help us and didn't give us more money". How on earth does that work? Is gaming industry some magical place with other rules?

Just adding my 2 cents here because in a certain way the discussion was entertaining. Insert "that escalated quickly" meme. But I think people were not really talking about the same thing. I think the discussion went something like this: Someone: Here are some values. So the real value X could be close to 1% Someone else: I think X is closer to 1% than 10% Someone: But from my reasoning X is close to 1% (not comparing it to 10% at all). Uses the term "margin of error". After that it was popcorn time and everybody wanted to look like a maths/physics genius. Maybe one of the problems was the use of the term "margin of error". I am not a native english speaker. But interestingly in my language there is a term which if you directly translate results in "margin of error". However the original term in my language is pretty loosely defined and not a technical/mathematical term. We also have "margin of error" but it uses slightly different words. Interestingly the wiki page for "margin of error" does not have a translation linked into my language which is pretty rare. Probably because of the slightly different meaning of the term although it is a direct translation. So maybe it was just people talking about different things and also maybe a translation problem.

KSP2 is NOT bad, and it should not be canceled.

Yes. All the nice people who barked at anyone who said anything critical about the game after FS came out on discord and reddit. I know there was a lot of criticism over here. But on other platforms it was basically the "this is fine" meme in action.

Maybe passionate. But when I see all the drama about KSP2 there are obviously not many in "the community" who think about the financial aspects of the game. Which should be a priority for a "smart community". There are other games where the community is more focused in making the game a financial success. Yet in KSP the community seems to be only focused in getting their game and they simply ignore these things. Which is kind of strange given that the community is so smart.

TBH I do not understand this kind of stuff. A lot of people here talk like "the community" is a magical thing. I have read a lot of stuff how "this community is not toxic" or something. This community is not a static thing and changes because of external influences. Like the development of KSP2. Honestly the amount of praise "the communitiy" is giving themselves over here is next level cringe. And feels totally out of touch with realitiy.

I am not sure about that. The game still has so many bugs that it is pretty much unplayable. At least for me. There was a lot of talk about how "Science" was a good update. I tried it and after all the bugs I stopped playing again. It did improve the game. But the game was still bad. I know others have a different oppionions. But for me the game in the current state is still not playable and the Science update did not fix any of the main issues I did have with it.

From my point of view the "Hype" fell apart when we got the "heat devblog". Before they told us heating was disabled because of VFX. Then we realized they were still in the concept phase for heat. That was brutal to read because it ment that things which should have been done about 3 years ago where not even started. And that is a management problem. If you have no idea what game you want to do you will most probably fail. They were never honest about the state of the game OR the concept of the game. They actually had nothing after years of "development" and that was the reason why it failed. They had no idea what they want to actually do.

That was exactly what I was thinking when I read that. I mean most people do 2-4 week sprints. Why do they need 2 weeks for sprint planning? I really don't understand how that works.
