I haven't bought anything yet (GASP!), but I'm waiting for Doom Classic Complete, Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil, the Wolf Pack (Wolfenstein 3D, Spear of Destiny, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein), the Quake Collection and Quake IV. If they all go on sale for 75% off, I'll only spend about $23.35 I'd also like to see the Unreal series and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series go on sale for 75% off. My current motto for video games is "Don't buy unless it is 75% off or more".

I think I once created a thread like this WAY back when. It got lost in the April Forum Catastrophe. The title of the tread was "If KSP was developed by..." and I started it of with EA. I don't remember exactly what I said there, so I'll make up some new stuff. The following hypothetical statements are based upon REAL things done by EA and other game companies. It would cost $/£/€ 59.99, plus a $/£/€ $20 "Season Pass", in addition to other miscellaneous DLC. There will be XBONE and PS4 releases, followed by an iOS and Android spin-off that is linked to regular game. For the people who pre-ordered it, you can have your kerbals wear red spacesuits. The physical copies would have a few different varieties of pre-order deluxe editions, depending on where you bought it. The PC release is for Origin only, and it contains SecuROM. You can't mod the game. You would have to pay to bring back dead Kerbals. Bill, Bob, and Jeb require $/£/€10 DLC to be on your ships. Rockets just disappear when you crash them. Explosions would be added with $/£/€10 DLC. The Kraken would be actually be a creature in the game. He would look like something from Dead Space, and you would encounter him fairly often. If you have weaponry on your ship, you get to defeat him with a sequence of quick-time-events. If you don't, he breaks into your ship and kills all your crew in a manner reminiscent of the worst Dead Space cutscenes. He can be removed from the game with $/£/€10 DLC. Every so often, Kerbals from a rival nation attempt to invade the Space Center. The game then becomes a poorly-designed muliplayer third person shooter. It plays like someone put two games of whack-a-mole across from each other and gave the moles plasma rifles. Also, you can pay to get new weapons for these stages. There is also a rocket racing multiplayer minigame where all physics get thrown out the window. They shut down the severs after two years of release. If you had the guts to purchase the game pre-owned, you would have to pay money to get features that would be present in new copies of the game. The game would be extremely linear in it's progression. You have to advance the game with a series missions (e.g. sub-orbital, orbital, munar, Minmusian, etc.), and don't you DARE try and skip a stage! There are severe bugs on the release date that require 15 patches in the first month of release. They attempted to give all the Kerbals personalities and give them spoken dialogue on the level of poorly-written fan fiction. People from NASA would be paid to make public statements about it being "too unrealistic" in an attempt to highlight how fun the game is.

I decided to test my skills as a pilot today. I decided to put a Kerbal on the mun, not because it is easy (blah blah, generic cliched JFK speech imitation) I have done so before, but this time, I decided to get some better screenshots. Here they are. Here are some bonus pictures from two failed attempts before that one: Credit goes to trydyingtolive for the rocket design.

This is a screenshot of me landing on the mun in the old demo (0.13.3) No mechjeb. No patched conics. No EVA. No IVA. No Tracking Center or persistence files. No docking. No in-game tutorials. No Kerbals other than Bill, Bob, and Jebediah. No spaceplane hangar. No Kerbals in the VAB. No music. No celestial bodies other than Kerbin, Kerbol, and the Mun. No "large" part sizes. No Astronaut Complex. No reverting. No contracts. No Administration Building. No Quicksave/Quickload. Just you, the rocket, Bill, Bob, and Jebediah. Don't get me wrong, I like all the features that the newer versions of KSP has. But I'll never forget my first time in 0.13.3 This was the result of two out of the three mun landing attempts for that particular mission. Compare that explosion to this one to see how far KSP's most spectacular feature has changed. Thanks to trydyingtolive for his tutorial. In case you were wondering, I used that rocket. These are the only two screenshots I took for that mission. I wish I'd taken more.

Hello. I thought I'd be fine with my nice build. Unfortunately, when I was about to order the parts, I came to my senses and realized that I couldn't afford that. So, I had to cut my specs to the bone. Here is my list. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qTnbVn How does it look? My plan is to use a TV as a monitor and to use Linux until I can afford Windows 8.1. Then, I'll get an SSD and another graphics card because this motherboard works with CrossFire and SLI. Then I might get a better processor and a cooler. Is it possible to hook a laptop up to a desktop so that the laptop's monitor works as the monitor for the desktop? Also, can you recommend an Nvidia GPU for the same price point?
-
I just totaled up the price of the desktop at that site I mentioned earlier. Let's just say that I am no longer considering it. Instead, I'd like some more advice about my custom build. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zczpVn The absolute maximum I'm willing to spend is $1500. I'd prefer to spend less than $1400. Questions: The motherboard that is currently in this list was recommended to me when I wasn't considering overclocking. I've since decided that I want to have the ability to overclock, even though I don't plan on overclocking. I also want to have the ability to upgrade to 16GB of RAM. I don't plan on using SLI. Can you recommend a motherboard for me? Did I pick a good SSD? If I didn't, can you recommend a 256GB SSD for less than $150? I'm also considering this and this I've already decided on a GTX 970 4GB. However, I've seen different versions that are either cheaper or more expensive than the one I am planning to get. Would choosing a cheaper GTX 970 4GB make much difference in the long run? I'm looking for a higher quality tower. Preferably something bigger. I'm planning for the future with this build, and I don't want to be stuck with a case that is too small. A friend told me that I should get a gold PSU with at least 700W. Is this good advice, or overkill? If this isn't overkill, did I make a good choice in choosing a PSU? Am I missing anything else? Thanks again, everybody. EDIT: Vorago from the pcpartpicker forums read a copy of this post that I posted there, and suggested this I've decided to go with the SSD and case he picked out.

When I was younger, I was very stupid in how I bought games. Some of them are really bad. So, I want to see them turned into cash. I've sold used games before at Gamestop, but they don't give you much. So I want to sell them online. The question is, where is the best place to sell them? The first things that come to mind are eBay and amazon, but the fact that some of these games start at $0.01 used makes me wonder if there are any worthwhile alternatives. I'll give a game list if requested.

My dad, who has been noticed my plan to build a gaming desktop, recently said: "I would suggest that you try to build a computer through a place like this. It will be built for you and probably be cheaper for the same components. http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Columbus-Intel-i5-Special" Do you think that this is a good website, or should I stick to pcpartpicker?

Okay. I removed the cooler from my part list. Can you recommend any coolers in particular, if I need one at all? Separate network card? Are you referring to the wired network adapter? It was there when someone recommended a part list to me, so I just kept it there. Are you implying by saying "separate" that one of my other parts contains a network card and I can remove this one from my list? My budget can accommodate some more. I updated my list to include an SSD. It's a Transcend TS256GSSD340. Here is my current part list. Any other suggestions?

Hey everybody, I just found something interesting for those of you out there who want to buy a HDD. https://www.backblaze.com/blog/hard-drive-reliability-update-september-2014/ This data backup company has recently released their hard-drive failure statistics. Also, I have three questions. This is my current build. 1. Does everything look "alright"? 2. Do I really need a CPU cooler? 3. If I don't, what is the best way to spend $40 to improve things on this list?

4/10 I don't care about your channels or anybody else's channels.

Wow... You just invalidated the last argument I had for the benefits of pre-built computer (tech support). Thank you so much. I'm going to get some second opinions on this, and if everything works out, I'll probably order the parts around cyber Monday like you suggested. This laptop can still run most of my games. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm making one small change to your list, though. I have some bad experiences with my current laptop's small hard drive. So I've decided to get an unnecessarily large hard drive. I'm currently planning to use this: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seagate-internal-hard-drive-st4000dm000 And when I get some more money, I'm going to get this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/crucial-internal-hard-drive-ct512mx100ssd1 By the way, here are the specs for my laptop: CPU: Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T6600 @ 2.2 GHz I couldn't complain for a while. Then I got Battlefield 3. RAM: Some type of DDR3 ram with 4GB. HDD: 282GB Let's just say that this is the reason why I currently have X-COM: UFO Defense (16MB) installed right now rather than XCOM: Enemy Unknown (16GB). This is why I want a 4TB HDD. I want to run out of icon space on the screen before I run out of hard drive space. GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 Graphics cards are not fine wines. They do not get better with age. By the way, can anyone recommend a cheap small laptop? I want the cheapest thing that can run a word processor and an internet browser and isn't a surface or a chromebook.

Object Oriented Elite It's an open source remake of the original game (Elite)with an emphasis on moddablity.

Hello everybody! I've finally decided that it's about time for me to quit my 2010 laptop and get a gaming desktop. After doing some searching, I found the Vanquish II. https://www.digitalstormonline.com/configurator.asp?id=1060070 All I want right now is a desktop that can play pretty much anything that is currently out now (even with the graphics on low) for less than $1000, including the monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, Windows, etc. This seems to meet this, all from one place. What do you guys think? By the way, if I do get this computer, I'll upgrade the hard drive and maybe get a better graphics card and SSD in the future when I get more money. Specific questions I'd like answered: Is it worth spending $70 more to get a larger HDD (0.5TB to 1TB) and a GTX 750 Ti 2GB instead of a GTX 750 1GB (by buying a higher-tier model of the Vanquish II? Is it still worth it if I plan to buy a 2TB HDD within two months and get a better graphics card and a SSD within a year? Should I save $50 and get a lower-end monitor? If I get another Nvidia card, will I be able to use SLI with the existing card and a new one? If I buy a SSD, will I be able to move Windows 8.1 to the new SSD (or any hard drive) if it came pre-installed on the HDD? Am I making a mistake that is obvious to you guys but not obvious to me? Thank you.

I'm not Finnish, but I'd suggest reading the Kalevala. It's Finland's national epic poem. I'm sure you'll find something in it.

What is your Least Favourite Movie/TV Show/Game?
ajshell1 replied to ShadowMasterZ's topic in The Lounge
My least favorite movie: The Lightning Thief I know that films never 100% faithful to the books, but the film had WAY too many changes, none of which made the story better. My least favorite TV show: All reality shows, all sitcoms...well, pretty much all TV shows except for some good old CN cartoons that I grew up watching and good anime series. I just don't like TV shows in general. EDIT: I forgot to mention that I do like Monty Python's Flying Circus and I liked Mythbusters when I used to watch it (I'd probably still like it if I started watching it again.) I also liked M*A*S*H but it isn't on much anymore (because it's old) so I haven't seen many episodes. Least Favorite Game: I've played many bad games, but if I had to pick a game that people would be familiar with, I'd choose Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. This game took everything I loved and expected in a Zelda game and threw it away. -
Okay. Take your time.

I'd like to thank you guys for keeping Bobcat's projects alive. But I have a question: Can I get the Nautilus (that interplanetary transporter for the original HOME) and the DEMVs anywhere?
-
Ever heard of Half Life? You should give that game a try. There's also a game called Serious Sam that some FPS fans might like.

Congratulations! You get the key! Expect it in a PM shortly.

1. Such as? 2. I think you have good intentions, but this would be...difficult. There are simply too many different dialects of English to standardize it, and even if there weren't, English uses to many sounds in an inconsistent way to make a conversion to phonetic spelling easy. 3. This is also a good idea, but there are some problems. While I agree with the removal of C, the sound that is made with a "qu" as in "question" is not pronounced the same as "K" as in "Kerbal" (In most dialects). And as for X...I'd agree with you, but xfinity, the X-factor, the X-files, the x-ray, Egosoft (the developer of the "X" series of video games), xkcd, Malcom X, Apple (for OS X), X (a manga series created by CLAMP), Microsoft (DirectX and the Xbox), and numerous radio stations and bands would all disagree with you. Maybe we could make it have the same pronunciation as the "X" in Cyrillic languages ("kh"). 4. Yes. Look at this for inspiration https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Phonetic_Alphabet#Letters if you plan on reordering the consonants as well. 5. Huh? 6. .I think this is a good idea..The Spanish already do this.

As a frequent Humble Bundler, I have an extra steam key for the game "System Shock 2" I will give it away to the person who demonstrates in a reply in this thread that he or she deserves it the most. WARNING: This game is not for the faint of heart. Seriously. Even though it was made in 1999, it's scarier than most modern games. But it's also VERY critically acclaimed. Here's a preview video.

Even though I'm not Mexican, I'd like to wish everyone a happy Cinco de Mayo. And just so everybody knows, Cinco de Mayo is NOT Mexican independence day. It is a celebration of the Mexican victory in the Battle of Puebla in 1862, during the French invasion of Mexico by Napoleon III during what is referred to as "The French Intervention in Mexico", "The Maximilian Affair", or "The Second Franco-Mexican War".

I completely agree with you.
