(adjust the borders) Any and all help will be much appreciated, thank you very much in advance for any assistance.

dacamp66 replied to oab2's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
oab2: If you have not done so already, please read the challenge submission rules sticky, they clearly state that you MUST complete the challenge YOURSELF before submitting the challenge; you must also post pictures to prove that you completed the challenge. if you do this, it is possible that others might try the challenge. this post is submitted in the spirit of providing a set of guidelines that will facilitate easier and more enjoyable participation in our community here, and is not intended to be insulting or hostile in any way. other than that, HAVE FUN AND GO FOR BROKE, DUDE! P.S. if you HAVE read the challenge rules sticky, please ignore this post. -

dacamp66 replied to Lego8_bit's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
found this, it tells exactly what mach number is and how to calculate it along with the required maths. it might help, if anyone feels like double checking their figures for an entry for this contest. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mach_number -

[1.12.x] Freight Transport Technologies [v0.6.0]
dacamp66 replied to RoverDude's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Have you considered creating a set of steerable ducted fans (like the goodyear blimps have) steerable through the fore and aft axis from pointing full forward to pointing vertical to pointing full reverse, so that the rockets can be saved for suborbital hops or launching into orbit? just a thought for saving fuel. -

would anyone be interested in trying their hand at making THIS: of course, if you did make it, Jeb would probably go catatonic with awe/joy/astonishment, and then never leave the cockpit for the rest of his life.

Anybody built a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird?
dacamp66 replied to Halban's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Check this one out: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/77471-SR-71-White-Bird?highlight=white+bird not only is it an sr-71, but it is also an ssto spaceplane with cargo bay and docking port! KEWL! -
Just a thought, but it MAY be possible that with deadly reentry and/or FAR you might get excessive heating on the tip of that nosecone during reentry. generally, you want a blunt nose for hypersonic speeds to spread out the aerodynamic and heat loads. other than that, TOTALLY KEWL SSTO,DUDE!

VASIMR engine
dacamp66 replied to Northstar1989's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
IIRC, "KSP Interstellar" mod has a plasma-electric engine somewhere in the tech tree that is similar to the VASIMIR engine. Direct quote from ksp interstellar thread "[ultra-High Energy Physics] Plasma Thruster: Magnetoplasdynamic ----> Quantum Vacuum Plasma Thruster" -
Jeb; "Computer, this is Captain Jebediah N. Kerman, Commanding Officer: Destruct sequence 1, code 1-1 A." Bill:"Computer, this is Chief Engineer William F. Kerman: Destruct sequence 2, code 1-1 A-2B." Bob:"Computer, this is Science Officer Robert J. Kerman: Destruct sequence 3, code 1 B-2B-3." Computer:""Destruct sequence completed and engaged. Awaiting final code for one-minute countdown." Jeb: "Computer, this is Captain Jebediah N. Kerman, Commanding Officer:"Code zero zero zero. Destruct. Zero." Posted this just for laughs, this thread brings back memories of star trek TOS marathons; great show for the era, too bad it was cancelled. O.K. end of post, time to get back on subject.

.5 or maybe .25 g would probably be enough, remember, you don't need the full force of gravity, all you need is enough g-force to keep bone and muscle decay from becoming a health issue.
