  1. Most modders are "quiet" because they have had to do a lot of work to get their mods up to date. For example the new KOSMOS VA was only released a day or so ago because the whole time (since 0.16 launch) they have been working really hard to change things over to being 2m parts. The KOSMOS Angara won't be ready until at least next week and I'm sure its the case with many other big mods. Another example is the new Novapunch remix was just released today because of the whole 2m parts business. You just have to remember that modding is their whole life, they have other commitments which can take them away from developing their mod(s).
  2. Its not really my craziest but it is by far my biggest problem (yes It's even bigger than exploding rockets). Many times have I accidentally staged my rocket when I wasn't meant to (usually whilst in orbit) and have had to abandon the mission or sometimes, and even worse, try and return them home from a mission with even less fuel than intended. This has led me to designing most of my rockets with more RCS fuel than needed on my final stage (in order to bring my crews home no matter what - within reason).
  3. The new skybox is by far the best addition, the new planets are that are par for the course (no offence) and were 'expected' or whatever where as the new skybox is the dev's doing their thing and being awesome decided to give us a hot new space scene and a new sun <3
  4. The rings weren't used to actually dock. All I did was launch the LEM and the Command Module attached together on the pad and separated them once they were in orbit, then landed the LEM and returned to the Command module to fly home.
  5. Those trails are awesome, I think I need to start doing some trails too
  6. Actually ExPI can now be found here and here on Kerbalnet. Now for some of my images.
  7. We have reached the big milestone of 500 downloads (512 at time of posting), thank's to everyone that has downloaded and extra special thanks to everyone who has uploaded content. We are working everyday to get more and more features onto the site and just today we have completely redone the ranking system to be more efficient and user-friendly. We have updated the way mod descriptions work and instead it's much easier to quickly identify what a mod is. We encourage everyone who hasn't yet checked it out to go and have a look for yourself (and give us feedback <3) and maybe even upload a save or a mod of your own. Thanks guys, The Kerbalnet team.
  8. Hello mod makers, developers and just plain old KSP fans, I am here to tell you about an exciting (at least we think so ) new mod site for KSP. Developed by a small group of designers and developers from the Facepunch forums we hope to make a big impact on how users get mods for KSP both now and also in the future. Our site (www.kerbal.net) has just entered an open beta phase and as of the 29th of August has been accessible to the public. In it's current state mod authors are able to upload their content to a 'mod page' not unlike having a thread on the forum here but being designed specifically for the task. The site is relatively bare-bones at the moment and there is a HUGE stack of features in development and testing even as you read this and so it is important you realize this is by no means a finished product (and perhaps never will be). Bearing that in mind we highly encourage you to check out the site at http://www.kerbal.net/ and we are completely open to criticism as we as new idea's. We want to know what you like (hopefully everything! <3) and what you hate (hopefully nothing :c) and what you think needs improvement. Another big request is to get a lot more content on there, as you can see it's pretty bare at the moment (mostly due to it only being live for 3 days) but also because it hasn't been widely publicized, until now. We would REALLY love to see you guys upload your own creations, whether that be simple craft files or complex mod packs we don't mind, we just want to see people getting quick and easy access to mods for a game we all love Some pictures: The mod page for Kerbal Engineer Redux by cybutek. This is the home page. All the mods we currently have on the site, We have a rule on the site about uploading content which is you must own the content you are uploading. By this we mean you must be able to provide proof and or refute ownership claims if the authenticity is in question. In simple terms we don't want duplicate mods uploaded by fake authors because we don't believe this will result in good mod page upkeep and so fake mods will be taken down (so that the real author has the opportunity to create the page themselves). This does not mean you cannot upload your craft files and saves that use those model packs, it simply means you cannot upload the model packs themselves (but we really want you to upload your craft files!). Another great thing is you won't ever have to sign up in order to download files, that's right it's completely anonymous and instant. No waiting 5s with an ad on the screen or anything. You will be required to log in in order to publish your own content, rate mods, comment on mods as well as various other future features. As a finishing touch to this hopefully awesome post I would like to let you all know that there is a standalone client for kerbalnet being worked on right now, so there's always that to look out for. Thanks endlessly, The Kerbalnet team.
  9. snipped - wrong section, sorry! http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/18844-Kerbalnet-Yet-another-mod-site-for-KSP-%28kerbal-net%29?p=252678#post252678
  10. So all you will be doing is indexing mods, in which case why even bother uploading to a git in the first place? It's no more reliable than each mod creator providing a mirror url for the mod files and then you simply make a 'profile' of the mod. I fail to see the revolutionary idea, if you were to host the files on your own server it would make much more sense (+speed, +consistency, +easier rights management and less legal doohickery, +no need to rely on api's, +did i mention the huge speed difference?, +speed, oh and +speed) and if you choose your host(s) right then uptime wont be an issue.
  11. I was working on something similar to this a while back but I had to stop working on it because I had other commitments, it was pretty close to finished as well. PM me if you are interested in it, it's called kerbalnet (and at www.kerbal.net but you won't be able to access it because it's password protected).
  12. I would love to see cities at night from orbit though, where entire landmasses are a sea of lights from the cities, street lamps and country towns below.
  13. The coaster on the top right, that\'s no moon.
  14. These images were taken over two landings, both were 100% successful although I did an initial test landing on Kerbal near the KSC to test the system.
  15. No don\'t be stupid, it\'s a great thing that the starting solar system will have a sense of familiarity about it. Last I checked we have never had a manned flight to any body in the solar system other than the moon so why do we need a more challenging system than what we already have. On the same note our current solar system hosts a wide range of different celestial bodies so we are by no means limited if the Kerbal solar system is based on the same planets. If you are super worried about having abnormal planets and planetary orbits then don\'t be, there is plenty of room for that kind of thing in nearby solar systems (which will present an even larger challenge) as not only will we not know exactly what the planets are made of but we would also have to design a method of interstellar manned spaceflight. As far as we have observed life is not prevalent anywhere but Earth (Kerbin) so what is to say that life could have not existed if the solar system was vastly different to it is now, for example there are many theories that life actually originated off Earth (most cite Mars) and was seeded here on asteroids and flourished because we are at a perfect distance from the Sun and had plenty of water and oxygen. Again, rest easy about the solar system; It\'s really no big deal if it looks a lot like our own because there is always room for exactly what you are asking for in another solar system and is likely to be implemented as such.
  16. I made this one a few days ago, its my impression of Kubin some 3.5bn years ago.
