  1. I am starting KSP.exe from a shortcut, and I just noticed that this shortcut has set home directory in C:\Windows\System32. That probably explains it. Edit: I have now changed the home directory and also downloaded the newest version, and now it works.
  2. I might see the same issue on windows: I just installed 1.1.1, and when I now start KSP 0.24.2 32 bit I get a message box saying "KSP Add-on Version Checker: Checked 0 of 4 add-ons." This message box just hangs there forever in the middle of the screen even after I have entered the game proper. The log file contains: Executing: KSP-AVC - 1.1.1.0 Assembly: D:\Games\KSP_0.24\GameData\KSP-AVC\KSP-AVC.dll [Log 06:12:36.8227259]: Starter was created. 3. I just found this video of how ESA plans to move Rosetta into orbit of 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. It is crazily complex. Anyone want to redo this in KSP?
  4. Omg, I flew my Rover to the moon and landed, and THEN I noticed that I Lomy Kerman had climbed into the Rover right before takeoff not knowing that there wasn't space for 2 on the return trip LOL. Oh well, I guess I will have to mount a rescue flight to save him. I know that you warned me about the bug about Kermans, but I fell for it anyway ... Sneaky little green *###&
  5. Thanks for the answers. I placed a docking port on the rover and it did the trick. I have gotten the price down to 150 k, isn't that still a bit expensive? Here's a picture of the rocket, and a craft file: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7714699/Mun%20Rover.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7714699/Mun%20Rover.craft oh, and a picture I took of the galaxies M81 and M82 with my telescope. Not that it is relevant for the discussion, but I had it in my dropbox and I am just proud of it https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7714699/M81_82_20140420%20Try%204.jpg Anyway, what is a reasonable price for a rover to the Mun?
  6. Hi, I am trying to get a rover to the moon, and I have a few questions: - I am using a Mk2 Lander Can. However, it is oriented vertically, so when I man the rover, the Navball is not oriented correctly. How can I fix this? - I built the rover first, then added a lander module on top of it. The idea is that this lander module will be used to get Jeb back home after the mission, so first it drops the rover from very low altitude, then it lands next to it. However, the lander can (i.e. the rower) is where the kerbals are placed by default. Won't this mean that I will control the rover and not the lander when I separate them in low altitude? That won't be good as I have to fly the lander, how can I fix this? - My entire rocket is way too expensive, it costs nearly 200 k! It is way overpowered, but on my first try to get a rover to the Mun I ran out of fuel so low that the rover landed ok and the lander fell over because I ran out of fuel. Can anyone suggest a much cheeper design that gives me a rover plus support that can bring the rover to the mun and the kerbal back home again?
  7. Hi, Thanks for this mod, it looks great. However, I don't think I can do any of the contracts without loosing money, but then I am a n00b For instance a contract for a Mun Spacestation with space for 9 Kerbals pays 196875. A stock "Test Rockomax orbiting Minmus" pays 320869. I can make money on the rockomax contract, but I cannot on the space station contract. I only have stock components to build from. How do I build a space station with space for 9 kerbals. The greatest pod I have currently is the Mk1-2 with space for 3. Should I send three rockets to the Mun to build this? I think I also saw a contract to build a station on the Mun itself. How can I build a space station on the ground with stock components? I haven't tried any of the kerbal flying contracts as I currently have no idea on how to build a plane
  8. Thanks for the quick reply. I kinda guessed it just was just a standard disclaimer, but just wanted to be sure. I am going to try it out now, thanks for making this!
  9. This seems to be exactly what I wanted for contracts What does "DELETE EXTRA CONTRACTS BEFORE INSTALLING" mean? Should I not have any active contracts when I install the mod? Also, the warning on KerbalStuff: "The mod is still in development, it has become more stable over time, but I still recommend you back up your saves." makes me a bit nervous Is there a risk that I will destroy my save files using this? How long should I keep the backups before I am sure that the save is ok?
  10. Check out this launch window planner: http://alexmoon.github.io/ksp/ I think of the launch windows as the dark-blue areas of the plots it produces. Those are the opportunities for transferring with the least amount of delta-V. Some times I go in light blue areas as well, it costs more delta-V, but that may be ok depending on my setup.
  11. I hope so This is the kind of contracts I would love to see. - Land a specific spot on some planet/moon (and come back) - Put up a satellite at a certain orbit on some planet/moon - Map surface using e.g. scansat - Create a communications satellite network for remote tech - Establish a base somewhere (in orbit or on a planet/moon) - Expaind the base - Fly ressources to the base etc. etc. Anyway, I think this is the wrong forum for this post. -
  12. I have been away from KSP for a while, and am now having a blast trying the Career Mode. I have a few questions about maneuvers and the map. Is there a way to look at the encounter part of a maneuver while adjusting it? Is there a way to select one of the "commands" of a maneuver when I am zoomed out so all the icons are on top of each others? E.g. I am trying to fly to the Mun, so I create a maneuver, zoom out so I can see the Mun, then try to adjust the maneuver so I get an encounter with a close encounter periapsis. If I zoom out so I can see both Kerbin and Mun, the icons are so small that it is difficult to select them, I often grab the wrong one. Is there a way to make this easier? Also, is there a way to disable for instance flags from the map, so I don't target them and not the maneuver when trying to manupulate it? Are there some advanced tutorials for maneuvers available somewhere? I have no problems with simple maneuvers such as Hohman transfers, but could use some help with more complex stuff. Thanks in advance for any help you can give a fellow astronaut
  13. Hi, I understand how to use manoeuvre nodes to alter an orbit. But have no idea what is going on when I try to use one to fly to another body such as Minmus. For instance, when I pull the prograde hotspot, I see a yellow ellipsis expand. That one I understand, as this is the orbit I will get into. However, if I keep adding more prograde, suddenly the yellow ellipsis is cut off, a white piece of curve is added and then a new green ellipsis. There is a circle marked Mun encounter, and further out another circle marked Mun escape. If I move the node so that Mun does not interfere with the node, then yellow ellipsis will expand past the Minmus orbit but then suddenly just be cut off with a circle marked Kerbin escape, and another line, this time violet, shows up. What does all these lines mean? It certainly cannot be my projected path. I have tried to search the wiki and see several Youtube tutorials, but they explain the orbit change stuff in detail, then lightly skip over this more complex part. Can you point me to a tutorial explaining this part of the maneuver node system?
  14. Hi, are there some updated tutorials for total newbies somewhere? I tried the inbuilt training, but that is not of much help in my opinion. The one about building rockets just told me how to put 3 parts together nothing about why etc. Am I right in assuming that there is no manual available? I checked out YouTube and those that I found are pretty old. All the new ones assumes that you know what you are doing already and cover very complex stuff for someone like me I am looking for something that can take me through building a reasonable rocket, and take it into orbit and back. Next step would be to go orbit the Mun or something. I am looking for explanations on not only what to do, but also why I do it... Any pointers to reasonably up to date tutorials (youtube or elsewhere) for this? Helge
