F Class asteroids!
Bioman222 replied to Arugela's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I seriously think we need Nuclear Asteroid Deflection Devices. -
Oh, I didn't notice the spent parachute. I thought you had a descent stage which you had used to lithobrake.

Signature checks out.

THE single most aggravating thing in KSP for me is...

SPACE STATIONS! Post your pictures here
Bioman222 replied to tsunam1's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
BioStation-I An experiment using TAC life support to answer the question: Can a kerbal live in orbit indefinitely? The answer was, yes. But I was slightly bothered by the lack of return vehicles on the craft, so, I wanted to launch a DERP module that contained three DERP escape pods. But, whilst reviewing the space station, I realized that it was out of monopropellant, so I made up a cargo vessel heavily based on the Dragon spacecraft. Upon rendezvousing it with the station, something very, very, very bad happened: A rescue mission is in the works. -

Someone hasn't seen Armageddon, apparently. I almost performed seppuku whilst watching that movie. The Martian is probably my favorite, though tied with 2001: A Space Odyssey. 2001 was a very unique movie, in the way that it is the most movie movie out there. The dialogue isn't driving the plot, the visuals do. And the dialogue is probably only a few pages long. The Martian, is, well, The Martian! The book was awesome and the movie lived up to it,

What is your favorite stock engine?
Bioman222 replied to Mad Rocket Scientist's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The Rhino. Stupidly efficient and powerful, making it versatile as a first stage engine and/or an upper stage engine. -

Kerbal Permanent Habitat Challenge
Bioman222 replied to Bioman222's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
HyperEditted habitats don't get the multiplier for being on a different planet. Score: 500.16 -

Meh. That sounds much to bothersome to score. Let's keep it with the stock solar system, people. -
Kerbal Permanent Habitat Challenge
Bioman222 replied to Bioman222's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
That is a good point about hyperediting to other planets, rule change inbound. What are planet packs? -
The goal of this challenge is simple: Using TAC life support or a similarly balanced life support mod, build an extra-Kerbin habitat, whether that be orbital or surface, that is capable of supporting as many kerbals for as long as possible. Criteria for habitat: Must use TAC life support or similar, and if using TAC please keep the default settings. Any changes to these should be noted in your post. Must not be on the planet Kerbin. Orbiting Kerbin is acceptable. Please, for the love of god, don't slap a Mk.3 Hitchhiker on a stack of resource containers. That's a lame way to do this. It's understandable to have an abundance of resources, but please at least use some resource converters for your Uncle Bio. Point opportunities: The point formula is this: K * [m]p + 0.1r Where k is kerbals, m is Screw Kerbin! multiplier (if you don't have this, it is equal to 1) , p is how many of the following points you earned, and r is the days of surplus life support resources you have the least of (So if I have 20 days of O2, 9 days of water, and 11 days of food, then r = 9). It should be noted that a habitat can only be a orbital or a surface habitat. No buts. Orbital Habitats You spin me right round*: Have a centrifuge or other artificial gravity device on your habitat +10 HabROCKED: Have an asteroid attached to your habitat +10 For Science: Have a part of your habitat dedicated to science (has science parts) +20 Legit Launch: Actually launch your habitat instead of hyper editing it. Please post a screenshot of the habitat's launch +20 Modular: Launch your habitat in multiple parts. Please post screenshots of each module's launch and docking +5 per module Abort Scenario: Have spacecraft on your habitat capable of landing Kerbals on the surface and supporting them for at least 10 days. +1 per Kerbal if the body has an atmosphere, +5 per Kerbal if body has no atmosphere. Nomad: Have significant engines attached to your habitat that allow for a decent amount of movement. RCS doesn't count unless it is a monopropellant-using engine like the O-10 "Puff". +20 Screw Kerbin!: Orbit a different body than Kerbin x1.2 for moons of Kerbin, x2.5 for an inner planet (Moho or Eve), x3 for an outer planet (Duna, Dres, Jool, Moons of Jool etc.) Surface Habitats Welcome to Munar Industries: Have a mining facility +30, +20 extra if ISRU's are included They see me roving: Have roving vehicles for Kerbals +5 per rover Trailer Home: Parts or all of the habitat can be moved to other locations. +10 per part of habitat move able For Science: Have a part of your habitat dedicated to science (has science parts) +20 Abort Scenario: Have rocket(s) capable of getting some kerbals to orbit of the body and supporting them for at least 10 days in orbit. +1 per kerbal to stable orbit, unless your habitat is on Eve, in which case +20 per kerbal to stable orbit Modular: Launch your habitat in multiple parts. Please post screenshots of each module's launch and landing. +5 per module Screw Kerbin!: Found your base on a non-Kerbin body (required). x1.2 for moons of Kerbin, x4 for an inner planet (Moho or Eve) x6 for an outer planet (Duna, Dres, Jool, Moons of Jool etc.) *Recommended, helpful, or fitting mods: TAC life support is compatible with 1.0.4 despite saying 1.0.2 Pathfinder adds parts for surface bases Station Science adds science parts for space stations Near Future adds, among many parts, very large solar panels. Persistent Rotation allows objects to keep rotating whilst in orbit. Brownie points go to anyone who makes a video recreating the scene from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Please recommend other mods, though if you do include a link to the forum page. Submission Format You must include a name for your habitat, a full calculation of the points (show your work!), and an album including a picture of the habitat, two pictures showing the total resources (one 30 minutes later [with warp] so we can see that it sustains itself to an extent), and any other required screenshots. Misc. stuff Please don't try and find loopholes in the rules. That's no fun. HyperEdit is acceptable, especially if you are launching a larger habitat. However, you will not get a Screw Kerbin! multiplier if you use it. If you have any suggestions, concerns, or questions please feel free to post here or PM me. I will not be extremely active as I have a busy life. I will be on vacation for the next two weeks (as of October 7th) so I will be frequently here, but after that I won't be here as often. Scoreboard Orbital Habitat: Duna Permanent Research Convoy Mk 253 #34782 RA3236, 500.16 points Surface Habitat:

(WIP) The Martian Rockets
Bioman222 replied to MajorLeaugeRocketScience's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
You should collaborate with the dudes making the Hermes mod to make a full "The Martian" mod. Obviously you must name the resulting mod "The Dunatian". -
No, it wouldn't. The very first sentence of the original post goes as follows, and I quote: "The idea here is simple. Fly a plane up really high and drop a payload from it." THAT, my good sir, is a rocket. "But it has jet engines and wing-" No. Not a plane. Also, it doesn't drop its payload radially or from a cargo bay. This said it's a cool design.

Part mods? I could care less as long as it isn't anything cheap. FAR? If you want to use it, sure. I will throw on a point bonus for FAR. No versions under 1.0, sorry. The aerodynamics model is different and there has been some rebalancing of various parts.p, so it wouldn't be fair. Also leaderboard will be updated momentarily. - - - Updated - - - The planetary orbit bonus only applies once. Your score is 564.

Expelled for exiling. The first rule about the circle: do not talk about the circle.

My submission: 2.8 + 2(0.715) + 10 + 10 + 10 for a whopping total of 34 points. Wowzers.
