  1. That's what the modified telescope part is, you can switch to it using f8 and f7. All controls should be available as well. I didn't include many pictures of the actual telescope view because they aren't particularly pretty. My massive KSC debris field does mean I have plenty to look at, though.
  2. A proper telescope for KSP. Unfortunately, you can't zoom in on objects in the sky, but it works great for anything that's actually rendered (terrain, ships, artifacts). Download the following mods: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/...t=fixed+camera http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/...pment-Thread-2 (Probodobodyne and BACE) http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/...-Version-1-2-1 http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/...morial-Plaques Extract this to your KSP folder. Agree to merge the folders. http://www./?4w5228eevd6ekna Use f8 and f7 to switch cameras, it has a viewfinder and a proper zoomed view. 1 and 2 rotate the telescope to either side. 3 and 4 will rotate the telescope up and down. Important: Before focusing on something other than the telescope, be sure to orient it so that it is flat and faces the same direction as the gold plaque. Failure to do so will probably cause the telescope to violently jerk and fall over when you return to it. The launcher + lander brought it up to 11 mods, and it had a habit of killing KSP, so I decided not to include it. You will have to fiddle with balance before it will fly properly. Some of my mod installs may be outdated, so be sure to tell me if you have any problems.

  4. Herzer Kerman, gazing into the abyss. Alright guys, here's the craft file + the modified part http://www./?61v3n225l1w2wmf Put the telescope in the "Ships" folder, and the modified piece in the "Parts" folder. 1 and 2, 3 and 4 to point it. F8 and F7 to toggle the cameras The mods you'll need: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/12329-0-16-Multiversal-Mechatronics-Fixed-Camera-1-1?highlight=fixed+camera http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/12237-Silisko-Industries-Addon-Development-Thread-2 (Probodobodyne and BACE) http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/9675-v0-16-Damned-Robotics-Version-1-2-1 http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/18197-0-16-Astronaut-Memorial-Plaques Let me know if I missed something
  5. I did it! Thanks to my extreme competence, I never had to use the debug console... ever. The whole flight was actually pretty easy, but I abused the infinite fuel pretty badly in order to put it exactly where I wanted it.
  6. Thanks! All that's required for the .cfg edit is to post this at the bottom of the telescope piece's part file. (with Probododobyne and the camera mod installed, of course) MODULE { name = MuMechModuleHullCamera cameraName = Hull cameraForward = 0, 1, 0 cameraUp = 0, 1, 0 cameraPosition = 0, 0.37, 0 cameraFoV = 5 } As for the mods, the number has changed a bit, because parachutes don't exactly work on the mun. Right now I have The telescope itself: Damned Robotics Probodobyne (modified scope) Fixed Camera BACE The lander: Test Weights (modified piece to be slightly heavier) Armstrong Memorial Plaque Mechjeb Truss Pack Novapunch I think I have too many mods installed. The only stock parts on the thing are the RCS blocks. I might make a more download friendly version in a bit, so I can post it.
  7. How do you get the precision to point it like that? I've almost finished a lander for my stationary telescope.
  8. The latter, I think it's due to the fact that the sky is not "really" being rendered. It zooms very well though. Note the lack of zoom on the sky
  9. I used about 5+ mods and some .cfg editing to create a functioning telescope. It can currently land anywhere on the planet, but I'm working on making a lander for minmus and the mun. The camera on the back is a view finder, I edited the telescope part to be a fixed camera with an FOV of 5. Unfortunately, it doesn't actually work for viewing the Mun, but you can use it to survey your surroundings. I hope to put a mobile version on the Mun to look for artifacts.
  10. Yeah, I'd recommend a leaderboard with ranking based on number of fully deployed chutes, just one caused the same design to implode. Also, add a tip in the main post to deploy your parachute after takeoff, otherwise it doesn't work.
  11. 12 is a far better number of chutes. Here's the pic, it's an SSTO and could probably carry a bunch more chutes In order to make the challenge harder, reward only full deployments or rank by number of parachutes. The trick is to deploy a little below the parachute's trigger height. It's about 20km, I think.
  12. The bug fix is acceptable, also good catch, I did the update in the right after I woke up, so that's probably why I mixed them up. I'll update your entry. Thanks! I think an achievement for multiple mun landings would work, but adding Minmus requires a whole new batch of rules if you think about it.
  13. AmpsterMan, so the entire thing was stock? You currently qualify for There and back and Explorer
  14. Good work guys! I have updated the leaderboard. I'm curious about how to incorporate Minmus, the low gravity would create entirely new circumstances.
  15. I'm pretty sure ASIMO is far more developed.
  16. Yeah! and docking! Where's docking? That too! Why not both? Why can't I dock with a buddy's spaceship?
  17. My computer sobbed and begged for mercy (a lot), and in-between crying fits, a frame would pass. But I got 226000m. Not stock though, it has a mechjeb pod on top. Am I doing something wrong?
  18. Nice work iplop! Quite fortunately, one of your screenshots showed a spent booster in the staging that shows you did land with SRB's. I have updated your entry on the leader-board. I am adding another achievement, Live Long, for completing the challenge in one go. It requires a screenshot showing liftoff from KSC in the flight summary.
  19. That's gonna be a hard time to beat! I'm assuming the last spoiler contains the SRB craft, but it's broken and won't open. I can't give you Way of the Master until I have seen the craft.
  20. Nao, I can put you down for an Honorary Award. As much as I love mechjeb, it isn't vanilla. The fact everything else is vanilla is still very impressive, and with a bit of refinement, I think you can make a proper landing
  21. Congratulations iplop! You are the first to be put on the board! Right now, I am using your MET for the original (sideways) landing, since it qualifies. Unfortunately, I think you need a little bit more proximity to get the Scout achievement, but you did get Dedication. You are also the first to complete this challenge, which I have marked.
  22. I did quick test flight using the claw instead, it looks like it could work very well with proper timing. I'll add an achievement for stock parts only. PizzaovertheHead, mind if I put in my signature?
  23. Are you as good as Jebediah? Prove it! Your mission is to create a mun lander using only the raw power of SRB's. Rules: -You are allowed to use any means to send your lander to the mun. -Once the lander is below 20,000m, the lander may only use SRB's; rocket engines and RCS are banned. -You can edit and mod to your hearts content, but the SRB itself cannot be modified to be controllable after firing. -Impact tolerance of any part can not exceed 50 -You must land mostly intact -You must provide images of descent and touchdown -Any achievements must have an image for evidence -MET will be used to determine leader-board ranking Achievements -Honorary award: Keep the cockpit after a violent landing -Mountain Goat: Land upright on a slope of 20 degrees or more -Mountain Climber: Land on the peak of a mountain -Explorer: The lander has a detachable rover (the rover can use non-SRB propulsion) -There and back: The lander has a return stage capable of getting back home (the return stage can use non-SRB propulsion) -Gentle Touch: Make contact with the ground at under 5 m/s -Scout: Land by any of the Mun's mysterious structures -Dedication: Use only stock parts -Way of the Master: Use only SRB's -Live Long: Complete the entire mission without having to reload Leader board: 1. Banbite MET: 2:59:38 Achievements: Way of the Master 2. samiamthelaw MET: 6:06:54 Achievements:Dedication, There and Back 3. Nao MET: 7:16:16 Achievements: Dedication, Way of the Master 4. iplop MET: 8:45:34 Achievements: Dedication, There and Back (First!) 5. AmpsterMan MET: 9:53:54 Achievements:Dedication, Scout, There and Back May Jebediah smile upon you.
  24. Welcome to the forums! Tosh's cart mod is a must-have http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/7854-PLUGIN-PART-0-16-Carts-v1-34-Cruise-Control-Compatibility-and-More
