  1. Hello. I'd like to know how, exactly, the specific impulse system works. I'm not fammiliar with rocket science (I just mash a bunch of SRBs toguether, put a parachute and tie it all toguether with struts) so I'd like an explanation in layman's terms. Anyways yeah, how does the specific impulse system work? That's pretty much it. I used google, the wiki and the forum search feature to no avail. If anyone could help me I'd appreciate it! Thank you.
  2. So you could be a ship... Orbiting an asteroid, orbiting another asteroid... orbiting a moon that was orbiting a planet that was orbiting a star? Yes. Just yes.
  3. Thanks for all the help. I'll be tinkering a bit more and following your advice. If you want I can give you my .craft file, but it requires zoxygene.
  4. Just so you know, I launch at full thrust but upon launch only the solid boosters and the toroidial are turned on. Only after the solid boosters are decoupled the other thrusters get to thrust. I'll try moving and removing some stuff around anyways, thanks.
  5. Hello. I am a proud kerbonaut who has sent around 10 successful missions(Not saying out of how many). But the reason many of my missions fail is the lower stages. Most of the times, here's what happens: 1-The ship blows up before launch. I add more struts, repeat until enough struts. Go to 2. 2-The ship now launches, but collapses into itself upon liftoff. Add struts. Repeat until enough. Go to 3. 3-One of the boosters dislodges sometime after launch, and procceeds to collide with the rest of the ship tearing it apart. Add more struts. Repeat until ragequit. So yeah. If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it. Here's the picture of one of my most recent ships that I've been attempting to fix:
  6. You're just supposed to jam it in there, as said folder isn't needed for vanilla. Edit:Never mind, I need to do more research before I post.
  7. Quick question:Why exactly should we end our previous zoxygene flights before updating? In layman's terms, if possible. PS:I want to go to bed but you're forcing me to stay up :[
  8. This isn't reasonable... The short answer is depends. The long answer is depends on what mods you're using. I have a satellite around kerbal. It's geocynced. Does it serve a purpose? Yes. What is it? I use the remotetech mod. Said mod requires a connection to the kerbal space center, direct or indirect. The antenna on that satellite allows me to better control my ship if I am not to be bothered with zoxygene life support.
  9. I don't see why would you require cheats, after all, the point of the game is not to brag about how you got to the mun by teleporting there. It's about bragging how you got to the mun with 4 liquid engines.
  10. Here's a couple of tips. First, raw power. Use solid boosters, as many as possible. Some of my ships use 18 solid boosters and 1 of the huge liquid fuel thrusters. Yes, that's how much raw power. Then, once you get to 10 KM start turning. This is called the gravity turn and if you do so at around 10 KM you'll benefit from it. Do avoid doing so if you're still on the raw power phase. If you have lots of solid boosters burnin', it's not a good idea to turn your ship. Finally, you'll want to stay above 75 KM. That's the edge of the atmosphere, and unless you REALLY want to get back to kerbal you're better off staying above that level.
  11. When I want to go to Minmus I simply make an orbit and attempt to get my apoapsis line up with minmus' orbit. On my first time I actually did a gravitational slingshot maneuver on the Mun to help me get there. Anyways, simply line your orbit up with minmus, time warp and wait until you're on a collision orbit. Works fine for me.
  12. Hey there! So I'm robly18 and I just got KSP. I've been hyped about it the whole week and today I finally got an opportunity to buy it and here I am! As you can guess I've been playing a lot of the demo. I'd already landed on the mun but today I went further:I landed on minmus... And came back! Landed safely on an ocean, but quite near the coast. I'm quite proud of myself and I have a feeling I won't stop playing KSP sso soon...
