This made my morning! Gargantuan amounts of kudos to Ven and NathanKell! -
People who joined back in 2011: are any of you still here?

Been here since july 2011. Posted a few quite popular crafts back then. Time flies -
[1.2.2] Stock Part Revamp, Update 1.9.6. Released Source Files!
Kristian replied to Ven's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
@ObsessedWithKSP Ah yes, thank you for pointing that out. I got the terms all mixed-up. Nevertheless - the CoM of the stock Mark 1-2 is perfectly aligned, as is the case with all the other stock pods. I for one prefer my CoM's to be lined up with the rest of the rocket, but that may just be me being obsessed with precision... -
[1.2.2] Stock Part Revamp, Update 1.9.6. Released Source Files!
Kristian replied to Ven's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Hi Ven! First of all, your work is absolutely amazing. The attention to detail, the crisp textures, the design... just about everything - awesome. Now, the boring part - the attach node of the Mark 1-2 pod seems to be off-center. I've not ruled out the problem being on my end, but none of the other mods I've installed modify the stock parts or their configs. [IMGUR]BkU3S[/IMGUR] As evident from the pictures, it seems the node is misaligned on one axis only. KER confirms that the problem is not just visual. -
Hi there, I'm Kristian. I have been here since 2011, but I seldom post anything. This is the fourth plane I have constructed in my career save (hence "La Quarta", feminine form of "The fourth" in italian). Not much to write about it, really. Have a look at the pictures and take her to the skies! Oh, and you need Ven's Stock revamp. Since it's meant to be flown without SAS, you probably need Raster prop monitor in order to keep an eye on the trim levels. http://kerbalx.com/Martellato/Quarta

[AAR] The Grand Tour - Voyage To The Planets
Kristian replied to czokletmuss's topic in KSP Fan Works
Compassion and emotion are functions of logical reasoning, their very phenomenae owe their existence to evolution. Berty's reasoning may be poorly explained by it, but they remain true. The consequences for kerbalkind will be dire. -

Berty's logic is flawless. I agree with everything it says, altough it needs to polish its people skills. -
Connecting Girders to two Mounting Points
Kristian replied to Jonathonm's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
No, that is an issue within KSP itself. A part can only be connected to one attachement point, unless you strut it to another. -

Then you came just in time, mate! Check the OP ^^ -
Hedvig Mk.II Heavy Launch Vehicle
Kristian replied to Kristian's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Darkside, any plan without explosions is not worth its name Newt and jersey, I realised this only after updating the OP. MechJeb was used solely to determine the mass and thrust ratio. Rest assured, it is perfectly controllable manually. dikkjo, indeed, it is. Which is why I am revamping the entire vehicle Also, in order to strap a fuselage onto a surface with its topside facing outwards, exploiting a glitch is necessary. Observe: Mount a structural fuselage onto the surface of a two-meter one. Before the glitch can be exploited, the game needs to recognize the part that will be placed around the structural fuselage. Make this happen simply by placing the fuel tank anywhere in the scene. Ta-da! This eyesore of a picture illustrates the gust of it. Now grab the structural fuselage and place it in, preferably, hexagonal symmetry around the core tank. Go bananas. -

Your feedback is awesome New pictures! Also, this launcher is too small. Working on a bigger one. -
Hedvig Mk.II Heavy Launch Vehicle
Kristian replied to Kristian's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Reading these comments always puts a smile on my face Also - it has grown! And possibly visited the gym. The hexagonal lay-out is now kept throughout the entire launcher. Altso, its thrust to weight ratio is somewhat improved - 1.39, compared to 1.06 - thanks to a new arrangement of engines. -
Hedvig has grown from a shy little girl into a real woman! The Hedvig Mk.II boasts an initial TWR of 1.4 and an upper stage that has some 4000 litres of fuel to spare after orbital insertion. Beware though, the first stage needs some serious babysitting if you want it to bring you anywhere near space.

Hey, another Swede! Välkommen ^^

It means 'utmattning', my fellow swede

I really wish there was some way to accurately calculate the gimbal angles - but as it stands now, you\'re pretty much left with guessing and correcting. Although the process is certainly easier if you start of with very little thrust. MechJeb is the key to determining how much the nozzles whould be angled - if it wants to pitch up, press 0 and vice versa. Also, I just noticed it is impossible to land. I\'ll probably just slap some canards to it, although I suspect it may behave better with a shallower reentry angle.

Of the two spaceplanes I\'ve created, this is by far the hugely overdesigned one. The shuttle itself features two oversized engine pods on which are mounted the two SSMEs. These must be manually gimbaled in order to counter the off-set centre of gravity. Beware - this monstrosity will give you a hard time. I am not liable for any rage induced damage caused to your hardware and/or (but must likely and) the rapid decay of your mental wellness. (Updated) screenshot time! At launchpad: Ascent: Liquid booster separation: Please note that the separation must only be executed once thrust has been completely cut, otherwise you\'ll have no time to re-gimbal the engines to intersect with the new COG. After booster separation, SSMEs re-gimbaled: External tank separation: MECO: Free from the last structural strain! Häpp!

Thanks for the kind words, guys It\'s certainly capable of achieving the orbital insertion on its own. However, I like to dispose of the tank before making the circulisation burn. Can\'t stand debris littering the skies.
