  1. BEautiful I love it I haven't tried it yet but I will get it for my 1.8.1 ksp install :) It should work right since on GitHub it says 1.8.0 works also in 1.8.1 id assume :) ALso should this work With realfuels and the Stock Configs with out RO? sorry if this has been asked before. I love the flat design of the capsule! I don't like the stock capsule in ksp because it's too tall!

That's the whole point of RO. See what are you trying to do is basically what RO does, it changes engines/tanks/parts to have their IRL, Fuel, Mass, ISP & Scale. The only thing you don't want is that RO scales parts up, right? I'm a bit confused here.

There is however another option: SMURFF (not compatible with RealFuels, so Stock LF/OX) it changes just the mass and the thrust of all parts, not their size. As a summary you can't get both. RealFuels is linked to RO.

YEa pretty much I would like to keep my kerbal look and feel and not up scale the capsules.I do use procedural parts tho. I don't mind having to make rockets bigger but I would like to keep the kerbal size as if kerbals were operating from earth. I want to operate with real fuels in RSS and not be limited by underperforming engines.Would be nice to use RO engines I downloaded the engines but they don't work as I assume they need the config from RO. I know they have configs for people who don't use RO. and that works fine for the stock engines. But I was wondering if there was more engines or configs out there that I was not aware of.

  3. Be cause I like the kerbal sized parts and I like the idea of kerbals and not humans but I like the size of RSS. So I would like to use real engines if possible but with kerbal sized capsules etc. Would it not be possible to Download the RO engines but then download RO and just use the engine configs? SO far I have raptors config for stock parts but RO engines don't work with that. only stock engines.

  4. SO I quickly read through here so i'm sorry if this has been asked before. I haven't played ksp in years and I just now got back into Real fuels with RSS on ksp 1.8.1 And I love RSS but I don't like the RO so I was wondering if I downloaded REal engines and theres missing options in game to right click on the engines and configure the tech levels it's because i'm missing RO? What does one have to download to get the engines to work properly in RSS using realfuels but with out using RO? do I just get the default config by raptor posted in the RF post? but then won't that under perform the engines for the Real solar system? Thanks for the help in advance i'm sure for you veteran players out there it's an easy question to answer but I've been out of the game so long I can't remember what I had to get to make it work properly! and yes I did read the post on RF forum but also a lot of the links are dead.

  6. Hello :) i'm sorry if this has been asked before. But i'm an old returning player and I just installed 1.8.1 with RSS. The mod works great I get clouds I found in game that you have an option to disable city lights. But I also remember when I used to play I could remove the city textures with out breaking the mod and only keep the visual effects and clouds with out city lights or the city themselves. Can any 1 help me? if I recall you had to delete a .ddl file or a folder or something along these lines.

Check out adding a Firespitter texture switch module to the fairing CFG. - look / ask on the fireapitter thread.

Then copy the original texture, change to your liking, and add as many variations as you’d like. I have done this myself before to add logo’s and “heat shield” textures for entry style fairings.

Cool thank you I will check it out. I feel like it will blend my rockets a lot more if I can match the textures to my fuel tanks.

SMURFF operates on stock resources only, so it shouldn't interact with Real Fuels at all.  (Nor does it need to, to my knowledge -- I understand that real fuels' tanks are already defined with realistic mass fractions.)  The only effect left over is making capsules and heat shields lighter (which may still be desirable, since Real Fuels doesn't do that.)

    ok thanks :)

  9. Hello :) first of I would like to say that i'm quite out of date with KSP because I have not played it in years. But I recently wanted to get back into it. I intend to mod KSP with either RSS or a Real solar system sized kerbin.

That said I would like to use real Fuels but in the engine configs you either have to use RO, I would like to avoid doing so because RO mods to much stuff and changes the looks of everything and has a lot of dependencies. The other engine config says is for stock size or 6.4 at most.... so i'm wondering what mod or Engine config should be used other than RO for a 1 to 1 real life size Solar system in order to get proper performance out of the engines? I obviously ran a search but I did not find much so instead I thought I would ask the community to point me in the right direction!

I should also mention i'm planning to do this on a 1.3.1 install of KSP as mods become available ( if not already).

    Thank you :)

What you're doing wrong is not ignoring that message. It's only happening because someone didn't designate that RF is compatible with KSP 1.3.1 - the compatibility checker only KNOWS RF is compatible with a given version because we told it so:

    https://github.com/NathanKell/ModularFuelSystem/blob/rf-v12.4.1/Source/assembly/Checkers.cs#L67

Excellent! I felt like it  was something like that because RF seemed to work fine in the VAB. But I wanted to post just to be sure I didn't mess anything up! So this is good news :). Also this is not really related but you seem pretty knowledgeable. SO What's the best engine Config to use if I plan to use RSS or earth sized kerbin mods with Real fuels and I don't want to use all the mods that RO requires? I think that for stalk engine configs it says it's meant for 6.4 kerbin or stock.

I understand that there is a few mods that are not up to snuff for 1.3.1 but I imagine that in a short while most mods will get updated for the current ksp as it's been doing for years now.

  11. When I installed this I followed and downloaded the required mods listed in post 1. When I launch KSP ksp says that " realfuels" is not compatible with KSP 1.3.1 yet when I go to real fuels git hub to get the latest release it states that it is indeed for 1.3.1 What am I doing wrong?
