  1. Where is the S-IVB stage parts. Can't find them.
  2. I like how the inside of the clamps looks scorched. Nice little touch.
  3. I've been doing some reading on the plans for the LM and it's pretty interesting. With just the parts that are worked on at the moment you could already do both the H and J-class missions. H is Apollo 11-14 and is just a barebones LM. J-class missions included the ALSEP science package and the Lunar Roving Vehicle. You can also make LM Taxi (normal H-class, but with fuel cell modded in instead of all those batteries) and the LM Shelter (J-class but without the Ascent Engine and its fuel). One can also make the LM Lab for use as an orbital mini-station (just remove the ascent/descent engines, fuel and landing legs). DennyTx are you by any chance Dutch? Your YouTube name sounds very Nederlands.
  4. I remember some of these pics. I feel old.
  5. Wow, this is pretty amazing. It solves the problem falling off the edges that the previous version had and it just looks gorgeous.
  6. I wouldn't mind terrain features that added some more life and diversity to the static planets we have now. If some of them can tear up your ship if you're not careful then I don't mind it all. It shouldn't be too ubiquitous though. Don't want a lava planet with only one tiny island in the middle. But cryo volcanos on Eeloo or a primordial lava-strewn planet close to Kerbol sounds just about right.
  7. Why do the pods have multiple science containers btw? One can already hold an infinite amount of science I think.
  8. Please do a version that can open only from one side. Maybe make it so that it there's two animations. One for one side and one for the other. Than you have a part that can both open together or separately.
  9. Using the Shuttle both for military purposes and civilian purposes is what ultimately caused it to reach its full potential. The USAF wanted a 1000-mile cross-range capability so that the Shuttle could be used for launching military spacecraft. This meant it had to have the wings it did. These relatively large wings influenced much of the rest of the design, limiting the use of it as a civilian spacecraft. Another problem with the Shuttle is that it was designed to be part of a larger fleet of spacecraft. The Shuttle to ferry cargo and crew to orbit, small space tugs to move things around in orbit and larger nuclear space tugs that would transport (manned) craft to the Moon and beyond. In the end we only got one piece of the puzzle. So while spaceplanes like the Shuttle aren't a bad idea in themselves, the way the Space Shuttle was designed and used left much to be desired. While it did a lot of wonderful things, for the money it cost a lot more could've been done. Perhaps an Apollo continuation which, without the added cost of developing new tech, probably could've done much more with the same amount of dollars.
  10. Just tried the newest version. Simply amazing.
  11. The planned Big Gemini, an extended Gemini spacecraft used for ferrying crew to space stations, would've had a traditional LES because the extra engines needed to lift it would've made the ejection seats useless.
  12. I went to a NASA exhibit in the Netherlands last week and I thought I'd share some of the photo's that apply to this mod: Without FASA I probably wouldn't have taken such an interest in the Gemini part of the exhibit. The one thing that impressed me is how big everything was about it. You don't really get that in KSP (due to the scaling and the third-person perspective) but the aft section with the golden foil is just humongous. How for Aldrin and all those astronauts must've felt spacewalking around such a monstrosity (especially when attached to the Agena).
  13. I'm drooling right now. The rest of the game looks so ugly compared to this state-of-the-art particle effects.
  14. DennyTx and your Apollo Program made me dive into the real Apollo Program and into the various designs that were considered. Some very interesting stuff. All of the historic designs can be created with just the following stages: the S-I, S-IV, S-IB, S-IVB, S-II, S-IC. When those are combined with already existing parts such as the various Titan boosters and the Centaur Transtage you can cover the majority of the planned designs such as the Saturn INT-11, 12, 13, 18, etc. I would also argue for adding a mounting plate for the F-1 engines as well. The Saturn INT-20 for example planned to have only 3 or 4 (because 5 was too much for that smaller design) F-1 on its first stage. This is also makes the Saturn V-B, V-C and V-D designs easier to make. Those had a stage-and-a-half approach, similar to the Atlas. A central F-1 was the sustainer engine. The other 4 were mounted on a Fairing Decouper which was dropped when the single F-1 was enough to accelerate the craft.
  15. Yes, but I'm suggesting you could make it separate from the ascent stage. It's not terribly important, but I thought that if it would be simple to do it might be something you'd be interested in, for variety's sake.
  16. Might I suggest making the docking ring of the Lunar Module a seperate part as well. That would allow it to be placed on your future Apollo Command Module. In case the Saturn V couldn't be manrated in time for launch, the plan was to launch the CSM+LM unmanned and then send a Saturn IB with a manned CSM Ferry to transfer the crew to the CSM+LM stack in orbit. While KSP doesn't simulate active/passive docking systems, it'd still be nice for role-playing purposes.
  17. 1.2 has been released and can be found in the OP. The changes: 1.2: -ModuleManager updated to 1.5.6 -Hitchhiker moved to the science tab and replaced its Crew Report with a special space-based experiment -Small experiments have had their values changed, as I had a few values switched around The Hitchhiker's new 'Micro-Gravity Experiment' is the biggest change. It only works in space, which gives the Hitchhiker a new use as a space station piece although it can still be used to ship a lot of Kerbins in one go.
  18. I also noticed that the Do Science Experiment thing on the MOL Lab has 100% transmission efficiency, even though it's a Materials Lab experiment (which gets 30% efficiency in stock). There's not a lot of FASA experiments that can be improved by the Science Lab, so I suggest lowering the transmission efficiency. Also 'Do Science Experiment' is kind of an ugly sentence. The standard 'Observe Materials Bay' or something is much better.
  19. Great new releases Frizzank. Noticed that the Gemini Docking Nosecone is wrongly spelled as Noseccone.
  20. The FASA integration is great news. Two talented modders sharing each other's knowledge is better than when they go at it alone. And the amount of separate parts is just what I had in mind. May I suggest making the ALSEP package a seismic scan. FASA doesn't have one of those yet and two of the experiments in the ALSEP were seismic in nature.
  21. What did you have planned in terms of modularity? Are the different stages one single part or can they be mixed and matched a bit more than that?
  22. In the mod there is and IRL the Big Gemini would've had an LES, since the normal ejector seat option wouldn't work with that larger and heavier design. Also the launch clamp looks awesome. Going to try it out immediately.
  23. The inside looks impeccable, but the landing legs are a bit weird. Are the white boxes a placeholder of some sort?
